Author's Note

Hey y'all! *gasp* It's not a Fairy Tail fanfic?!

Yes, I read/watch other manga/anime than just Fairy Tail. And, naturally, I have other OTPs for each too!

If you're here because literally every single other one of my published books is a Fairy Tail fanfic, sorry to disappoint.

I invite you to stick around though, I still think you'll like it!

This book is for another one of my favorites, Akagami no Shirayuki-hime (Snow White with the Red Hair). Highly recommend! 👇

And so, introducing Ningyō no Ohimesama (The Doll Princess)!

This was originally going to be a rendition of Rapunzel, hence Miho's long hair. But the more I thought about it, the more I wanted a strong female lead, and the further my story got away from a girl trapped in a tower waiting to be rescued.

Well, Miho does feel trapped... but I'm getting ahead of myself.

Also, if I was going stick to the script then I would have stayed true to her Japanese name—like Shirayuki means Snow White—and Rapuntsu~eru just doesn't roll as smoothly off the tongue.

Below are the names I picked for the two main characters and their rationales.

Miho (美穂) = "beauty, ear (of grain)"
•  Miho is blessed with extreme beauty since she was a child, although this blessing ends up being a curse instead.
•  The kernel is symbolic of birth, a sign of hope and the future; the ear of wheat is an emblem of spring, when nature awakens and conquers the darkness of winter—like how Miho wants to conquer her dark past.

Aoi () = "blue"
•  Blue is the color most often associated with sadness; Aoi loses his mother at a young age and is called a Demon, his father is murdered by his uncle, and he's forced to run away from his home in fear of his life—Aoi has certainly experienced sadness.
•  His parents knew about the stigma with red eyes and didn't want him to be associated with it, so they named him Blue.
•  Blue is also the color of the sky and the sea, symbolizing peace and tranquillity/calm; Aoi's father and mother grew up fighting in wars, so they named his son in hopes that the current time of peace would last...

Sorry for being a long-winded human being. Let's get on with it, shall we? Disclaimer: I don't own Akagami no Shirayuki-hime.
