Trust No One
Zach stood with the adults outside of the south end gate as they were going around and removing the repellers and blockers.
"God, this was thought through." Lowery said. "They covered their bases entirely."
Keira turned to Zach. "How are you holding up?" she asked him.
He shrugged. "Kinda missing high school." he joked. She smiled with a small laugh but suddenly, she stopped. There was confusion and then her eyes widened.
"What?" he asked. "Why are you making that face?"
"We need to get back to the control room. Now." she said. Everyone looked at each other puzzled but followed her lead as they piled into Keira's call. She grabbed her cellphone and called her mother.
"Hello?"
"Mom! Please listen to me, I need you to go to the raptor paddock-"
"Keira I-"
"Mom! Please! I need you to go to the raptor paddock and tell Owen to go to open up the gate pass box."
"What?"
"Mom,I can't explain right now, just make sure he gets that information."
"Keira, where are you?"
"We're headed to the main building, I have to go." she said.
She hung up her cell phone.
"Care to explain what is going on?" Alan asked.
"I think I know who's doing this." she said. "But I have to be sure."
Ellie left the Grady's at the house and drove to the raptor paddock. She stood in front of the gate when she heard the screeching. She swallowed only remembering the raptors chasing her through the old park.
"Come on Ellie, pull yourself together." she said to herself before heading in.
The raptors were running around screeching and chirping. She saw Owen calling to them.
"Owen!" she called. Owen looked over.
"Hey, what's going on?"
"Keira, she said open up the gate box."
"What?"
"It's all she told me."
Barry and Owen walked over before the two men broke it off.
Owen knelt down and picked up two black pieces that didn't appear as though they belonged.
The raptors went silent.
"That's what's been causing them all to go crazy." Barry said.
Owen looked up to Ellie. "Where's Keira?"
"She said she was heading to the main building. She told me she couldn't explain."
"Go on." Barry said to him.
Keira came in and was immediately stopped by workers.
"You're gonna wanna see this, Miss Grant." the man said.
They followed the man and entered a room and saw Claire sitting at a table holding an icepack against her head.
"Aunt Claire!" Zach ran over to her. She flinched as his loudness.
"Zach." she said before he wrapped her in a hug.
"I found her in the men's bathroom." the man said.
"That's a bit out of your range Claire." Keira said lightheartedly.
Claire looked up at her with a small smirk.
"Who did this to you Claire?" Keira asked.
"I don't know." Claire said closing her eyes. "I just remember leaving here for the night to head back home but I don't think I ever made it there."
Keira walked out and headed to the control room. Alan and Zach helped Claire up to her feet and with Lowery as they followed her.
Owen rode his motorcycle towards the main building. Keira had figured out the mystery that was causing the disturbances to the dinosaurs but his focus was now on who was behind it. He heard his radio go off and stopped his bike.
"It's Owen." he said.
"Owen, it's Doug. Where is everyone?" he asked.
"They're at the main building." he told him.
"Alright, I'm going to head over there."
"Okay, I'm heading there now."
"Keira, you gotta tell me what's going on? Who do you think it is?"
"I've been going about it all wrong." she said. "Can you log me in to the employee profiles?"
Lowery nodded starting it up. "Here." he moved over. She began typing away.
"We were looking at all the wrong people. Jack was perfect to take the fall and so were you. They knew everything about us!" she said.
"Keira, you're not making any sense."
"Don't you see? This was all planned long before we even detected anything was wrong."
"You said you knew who it was? Who is it?" Lowery asked.
She pulled the profile up on the large computer screen.
"No way." Zach said.
There was silence before the sound of a gun cocking behind them. They all turned.
"Nobody move."
