Chapter one

Flamestar was sharing a peice of fresh-kill with Rainsong after he returned.

"Aren't you going to announce that you got your lives on top of high-rock?" Rainsong cooly asked.

"Not until I finish my prey. As they say, eat your prey first"

"Uhh no-cat says that." Rainsong scoffed.

As Flamestar gulped down his last bite, he climed on to the high-rock. "All cats old enough to gather prey meet at high-rock for a clan meeting!" He shouted loud enough for the whole clan to hear.

"Well, some-cat knows how to call a meeting. You already mastered it!" said Rainsong impressed with his friend.

"I was born a leader. I don't need any practice." he said arrogantly.

"Cats of all ages, as you know since Silverstar died, so I became leader. I traveled to the Moonstone and got my 9 lives."

Chattering spread through the clan.

"Silence!  I also ahead of time chose Rainsong to become my deputy. So he will be organizing patrols

Murmurs or worry spread through the cats. Finally, an apprentice said, "But Rainsong became a warrior just last week?!"

"How dare you disobey my choice!" Flamestar was angry that his clan did not trust him.

"S-S-Sorry, Flamestar." The young cat stammered and hid behind the leaves.

"Now, I trust Rainsong. He has been loyal to me since we were kits. I am not just choosing him as a friend. And, I am the same age as him. If you are okay with me being a leader, you should be okay with Rainsong becoming deputy. - "But you became a warrior first!" a cat interrupted-"Do not interrupt me! As I was saying, Rainsong is loyal and will risk his life to protect the clan."

"You may be dismissed now." the tom said as he was stepping off the high-rock.

Flamestar padded up to his friend. "I'm sorry the clan doesn't trust you. But I know you will be loyal to my clan."

Rainsong sighed and was quiet for a moment. "Well, It's okay. Even though my clan does not trust me, I will be loyal to my clan."

"Very well said, Rainsong. Now can you organize the dawn patrol for tomorrow? I will go get a piece of fresh-kill.

The orange tom headed to his den to sleep. Startled, he saw a familiar cat in his dreams. "Silverstar! Aren't you proud of me? I am doing a great job as leader!"

But the she-cat's voice was fading away as she spoke: "Use these wisely..."

Suddenly he felt a shake on his shoulder. He woke up to a start.

"Flamestar? I organized the dawn patrols."

"Who did you send to patrol Treeclan territory?" the tom spoke in the middle of yawns.

"I sent Liontuft, Lilynose, and Poppypaw. I asked them to patrol all the borders."

"Very well chosen. But all the borders? - Flamestar thought for a minute- I guess it's okay. Who is out in the hunting parties?"

"Bramblepaw, Thornstrike, and Stoneclaw." the grey tom said proudly.

"Ok. I would like you to be in the afternoon patrol."

"Why? Is there something bothering you?"

"No. I just want you to go."

"Okaayy.... I will be out hunting now if you need me." the tom said as he left the den confused.

Why is Flamestar acting so weird?

He decided he would go back in and ask his friend.

"Flamestar?" he said entering the den.

"Well, you already came so I don't need to say enter." he annoyingly said. "Just tell me why you came back."

"Well... We have been friends since kithood and-"Do you not trust me any more?! the angry tom snapped at Rainsong -no, no. It's nothing like that. It's just that I can tell if somethings bothering you and something is up."

Flamestar sighed and spoke "Say no word of this to any clan cat? Got it?"

"Yes, Flamestar."

"I am only telling this to you because you are my friend. I want to attack all the clans. They have lots of prey and are living at ease. We should be the clan that does that! Us, us!!! Meadowclan should thrive!"

"But Flamestar.... An attack so early? You just got your lives and Meadowclan is thriving. Besides, we don't have any good reason to attack."

"We do have a good reason to attack. I just got my lives! Even if I lose a life, I still have plenty! And when we attack them, they will be weak and we will thrive. So they won't have the energy to fight against me! So, I will always have at least 8 lives!"

"But- "No buts. I made my decision"

It was no use arguing to the flame colored tom, so Rainsong just left the den without saying any other word.

As he was out hunting, he caught a scent of rabbit. Going into a hunting couch, he leaped at the rabbit. His fangs sank deep into the rabbits flesh and it was soon dead. He buried it and covered it with leaves.

He was walking as he stumbled upon Lilynose. "Hey Lilynose!" he said.

"Oh hey Rainsong! Out hunting eh? In this season, hunting is easy."

"I agree. Where's Lionpaw?" he asked questioningly.

"I sent him out hunting with the other apprentices. I needed a little me-time." she said as thoughts of Lionpaw clouded her mind.

"Always distracted by something" she murmured shaking her head.

"Well, I need to go now. I gotta organize the evening patrols."

"Bye!"

"Bye!"

As he reached camp, he put his piece of fresh-kill in the pile.

"Have you organized the patrols yet?" Finchwing mewed.

"Yes. And you are coincidencly are in it. I think it's time you lead a patrol. Take, Scarear, Patchnose, and Fernclaw with you."

"All right. Hey, Scarear, Patchnose, Fernclaw! We're going to the evening patrol!" she shouted as far as the twolegs place could hear.

"Got it! Let's go. And by the way Fernclaw, I'm leading it." she proudly said.

"Eh it's okay." he coolly mewed.

                                                               ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Flamestar took a piece of fresh-kill and headed to his den. As he finished it he slept hoping Silverstar to come and finish the sentence.
She did, but this time she said something different: "Fire and flame will be gone. Rain will pour and rule the clans."
After she said that she faded and disappeared.
"No! Silverstar! I need you to tell me what you meant! Is this a prophecy?!" he pleaded but it was too late.
He woke up with a start. It was raining very heavily. Some of it leaked through the roof of the den. It was very early and no-cat woke up. He thought about what Silverstar had said: Rain will pour and rule the clans.
 Rain will pour and rule the clans! It was a prophecy! But isn't it good? Rain gives us water and helps plants grow. Eh, who cares.
He thought and forgot all about the prophecy.
What do you think of the chapter? I love it. PM me if you know what the prophecy meant and who is the antagonist. Remember to vote, comment, share, and follow!
