[4] lover boy
I was sat in the cafeteria with Mae, Kennedy and Layla. Like I always was as I began to tell them everything that happened yesterday at Billies. Since I just couldn't stop thinking about it for some reason.
"So you forget to tell his friend I found him-" I cut Mae off quickly.
"-I did! Before I left, I told Mike that you thought he was hot." I gave her a reassuring smile.
"Mike," She repeated, mostly to herself. She repeated the name a few times then sat and smiled. Again to herself as no one else was really looking over at her but me. And I don't think she even realised I was to be honest.
"This guy sounds suspicious," Layla mumbled to me.
I guess one way I could label Layla as being was paranoid since she loved to second guess everything. Of course she had good intentions, since she always has second guessed any of the boys any of us have ever had any interaction with. But that was just because she cares a lot I think.
"You think?" I asked her, a little worried myself.
"I mean, he sounds like he could possibly like you. But he's just always been the boy to as soon as he meets a girl. Fuck her, but he's not even mentioned anything like that to you. I can't put my finger on- don't take this the wrong way but- if he just wants to be your friend or if he really does have a good feeling about you." She explained as best she could. Kennedy sort of nodded beside me in agreement of Layla, although Mae had her eyes on other things.
"What do you think Mae?" I asked her.
"Mike."
"Seriously?" I laughed hopelessly.
"No, no, Mikes in here. The boys. They're about to come in line." She added on as we all turned around to the cafeteria doors, and in fact they were. Me and Kennedy turned back around quickly as we began to make a fake conversation with each other. Still keeping an eye on them all as they got in line.
Or more a less, just me. Keeping an eye on Billie as he got in line.
He looked around, not really engaging much in the conversation Mike and Tre were sharing until his eyes met mine, And the famous smirk showed up.
"Shit," I muttered looking straight ahead at the table. Dodging his eyes.
All the girls questioned me as they looked over at Billie.
"He's coming over," Kennedy whispered.
"He is!?" I asked.
"Hey Echo," I heard him greet, I turned around to see he was stood directly behind me, looking down at me since I was sat and he was stood. His smirk still there.
"Hi Billie," I smiled rolling my eyes.
"I saw you staring in the line?" He attempted to tease.
"I wasn't staring, don't flatter yourself Billie Joe," I rolled my eyes playfully. He laughed too as Tre and Mike found where their lost member had gotten to, joining him beside our table.
I looked over at Mae who looked as if she was having a silent freak out in her mind.
"Hey Echo," They both greeted. With food in their hands they had just got from being in line.
"Hi guys,"
"Wow you're really red," Mike laughed as his eyes diverted to Mae. "Are you okay?"
"E-erm- yeah,"" She struggled. Smiling to him.
"Are you sure?" He asked her. "I'm Mike by the way."
"Mae," Gosh, she could hardly get any words out.
His face sort of dropped, then he smiled. Realising she was the one who found him hot, as they carried on with their own conversation Billie bent down to my ear and whispered something over to me.
"Is she the one who was on the phone?" He asked me. I couldn't help but laugh at his confusion.
"Yes Billie," I whispered back.
He nodded as he stood back up. "Thought so."
"Just checking?" I asked.
"Yeah, y'know just gotta make sure." He smiled.
Layla and Kennedy were having some sort of fake conversation between them to make me and Billie think they wasn't listening to us, and although I know they had Billie fooled. I had been friends with them for over years. They were idiots, crafty ones at that. But where has Mae and Mike were really having their own conversation, laughing and smiling amongst each other. And Tre sort of on his phone behind Billie using him as a shield so no teachers would see.
"You're still coming over tonight right?"He asked after a few silent seconds.
"Of course I am," I grinned. A little too eagerly. But my reply seemed to of made him smile.
"Just checking again," He chuckled. "You realise the boys won't be there too don't you?" He asked me.
Well, I didn't. But now I did.
"Oh, yeah. So just.... me and.... you?"
"Yeah, is that okay?" He smirked. I felt myself fluster.
"Y-yeah that's fine. I'll see you later on then."
"Yes you will." He winked, as he elbowed Tre and they walked over to Mike, waiting for him to wrap up his conversation with Mae stood silently behind him, waiting for him to realise.
Billie looked at me with wide eyes annoyed at Mikes lack of realisation as I giggled, he rolled his eyes then flicking Mike in the back of the head.
"Ow- what the hell dude." Mike flinched holding where Billie had flicked him. Turning around to them.
"Come on lover boy, wrap it up we're off."
"Lover boy?" He laughed. "Don't know why you're calling me lover boy you was the one that couldn't shut up about Echo yesterday once she left," He muttered.
Billies eyes went wide in panic as he did the only think he knew how to do, elbow him. "Dude shut up!"
"Fine fine- bye Mae." Mike smiled to her.
"Goodbye mike." She beamed back, absolutely overwhelmed as they walked off. Billie looked over his shoulder. And gave me one last glance of his smirk before leaving the cafeteria through the exit doors.
"Ain't he charming." Mae smiled. Her chin resting on her hand looking sort of into space.
I thought about Billie.
"You've sure got something on your hands there Echo." Kennedy smiled.
"Yeah," I nodded. "Isn't he just something."
