[3] What did i tell you?

I strolled behind the school building to the dumpsters to have a cigarette. Which I was in great need of seeming how shit my day was so far.

I got there as I pulled out the pack from my bag and inserted one in between my lips. Lighting it up and taking a drag.

"Lucky seeing you here," A voice chuckled as I blew out the smoke, I looked over at the direction the voice had came from to see none of then Billie Joe. The bastard I couldn't get rid of lately.

His eyes were on me, but fuck were they green.

"What are you doing here?" I questioned him, taking the cigarette away from my mouth.

"Same reason as you are," He smirked standing next to me as he felt his jean pockets for what I'm guessing was a cig packet. Before he scrunched up his face. "Fuck." He cussed. "Can I bum one?"

"What?" I asked, confused.

"A cigarette," He clarified. "Can I bum a cigarette? I swear I'll owe you back."

"Oh right, yeah." I shrugged taking the packet back from my pocket and pulling one out for him. He took it, "Do you need a light?" I asked him. He nodded with the cigarette between his lips. I turned on my lighter and lit it for him, as he nodded to say thank you.

After he finally took a drag he spoke. "Didn't know you'd smoke," He smiled starting a conversation.

"What's that suppose to mean?"

"Nothing, nothing I just didn't realise you was the sort."

"What's that suppose to mean?"

"Don't take it harshly. Just wasn't one of my first assumptions I'll say,"

"So you make assumptions?" I smirked.

"Okay... well, I wouldn't necessarily call them assumptions. Rather more first impressions, but yeah."

"So what other 'first impressions' do you have on me?" I asked him.

"I think if I say any more you might just bite my head off, so maybe I'll skip that question" He smirked. "Any on me?"

I nodded, "Quite a few."

"Let's hear 'em."

"Well, you seem like the type of idiot that doesn't have any plans o anything. I think that first impression speaks enough about the rest I have,"

"Well that's wrong," He huffed on his cig.

"It is?" I asked sarcastically.

"Yeah, I've actually got pretty good plans on what I wanna do."

"Tell me."

"Well, I'm in a band." He smirked.

"Oh god you're one of those boys." I scoffed rolling my eyes, taking another drag on my ciggarette.

"What's that suppose mean?"

"Those boys who think they're in a band, and that they're going somewhere, and think they're gonna become big when in reality it's just them and their friends fucking around with cheap guitars."

"Well actually, are band is quite good," He protested.

"I'll believe that when I hear it."

"Okay then," He smirked. "Why don't you?"

"Why don't I what?"

"Listen to my band." He smiled. "We're having a band practice tonight. Why don't you sit and listen?" He asked me, smirking. I bet he thought or even knew I was gonna say no. So that's why I did the total opposite of what any person with common sense would've done. I said yes.

"Okay," I nodded, "I'll be there. Address and time?"

After school, after telling the girls how I basically got invited to Billies house tonight, I got ready to get changed. He wanted me over at his for six. His house was just around the block suprisngly. So it wasn't long away, which was lucky since I had just got out the shower and it was half five.

Once I was ready I began to leave the house and walk to Billies. I was already aware I was gonna meet a few more boys like him since it takes more than one for a band. And I was already strictly told by Mae that if his friend she thought was hot in the line was there I had to get her set up with him. Which I agreed to thinking he wouldn't be. Hopefully anyway. I don't plan on being a cupid tonight, only proving my point.

I knocked on the door. The door opened.

"You really came?" He smiled, then quickly smirked. "I didn't think you would."

"Well I did, I'm intrigued in this band of yours." I smiled back, as he let me in. I was greeted by two other boys. Two familiar looking faces.

There he was, the one Mae liked. And stood the other one. Suddenly the other one had spoke.

"Bro you didn't say you was gonna invite a girl around?" He laughed, as they both walked up to me. "I'm Tre." He greeted.

"Another girl of Billies? I'm Mike."

I tried to ignore his another girl of Billies comment. "I'm Echo," But it was kinda hard. Was this how he started to meet all 'his girls'? Inviting them around to listen to his band.

Oh Gosh, I hope I wasn't falling in some line.

"Echo? Isn't that the one you was speaking about the other-" Mike began to speak but he was quickly interrupted by Billie. Who punched him in the arm.

"-Shut up idiot!"

"Cool name though," Tre smiled entirely ignoring the two. I thanked him as the three boys took me down into their basement, where there were a few guitars hung up, and a big drum kit stood at the end of the room.

I was surprised. They did have professional instruments and not some crappy ones. But I couldn't make any big judgments just yet. I hadn't even heard them play.

"I'll show you how good we are." He whispered over to me as he walked past, giving me shivers as he grabbed a guitar from the wall. With his initials 'BJ' on the front.

Tre got behind the drums as Mike also picked up a red guitar bass guitar.

They got on a little platform on which the drums were sat as Billie was in the middle. In front of a microphone, are you meaning to tell me he's the singer?

I held back a snigger as I watched him put his guitar strap over him. As if he could sing.

"You ready?" He smiled.

I nodded. "What you gonna sing?" I asked, smiling back.

"just some songs. You won't know 'em," Tre explained breifly.

"So these are your own songs?" I asked surprised. They all nodded.

I watched them as they began to play, Billies eyes so focused on his guitar, and Tre and Mike also in their zone.

I was really surprised when they suddenly started loud, all in rhythms and unlike the other boys bands I had heard in my school, all of their instruments went together in time.

And then of course Billie began to sing,

No way

He was actually amazing...? His singing voice was nothing at all like the way he spoke to me. He sounded so different. But in a good way? I really wasn't expecting that.

He could see how surprised I was as he looked at me and smirked still singing, and looking back down at his guitar. His eyes felt like they must have been on me the whole time, where as Mike and Tres stayed on their instruments.

Once they finished they all took a breather and stared over to me. As I began to clap, actually really impressed with what they played. Which means my point was not proven, rather Billie Joes.

Billie jumped down from the platform with the guitar still around him, making his way over to me as he sunk down beside on to the old sofa where I was. Since that's where I was instructed to sit when listening. "What did I tell you?" He grinned. Proudly. "I told you we're good,"

"You know what Billie Joe, you actually have something good there." I nodded honestly, sort of accepting defeat that I was wrong. "Something amazing even."

"You really think?"

"Yeah! You've got an amazing voice and you all are so good!"

"So you take back what you said?" He smiled.

I rolled my eyes and laughed softly. "Yes Billie, I take back what I said."

"Awesome," He grinned  jumping up off the sofa, that kid was so filled with so much fucking energy. He pulled me up unexpectedly. "Come on." He continued with his smile pulling me with him as we left the basement and found our way into the kitchen.

Tre and Mike began to raid his fridge. As me and Billie sat at the table in the centre of the kitchen area.

"Hey guys," Billie interrupted. Turning to Mike and tre. "Don't touch the chocolate from the back, that's my moms and she's sick of you both stealing it." He told them. Turning back around to me.

"What's the name?" I asked him, referring to the band.

"Billie joe Armstrong." He smiled, obviously knowing I didn't mean that.

"No your-"

"-Green day."

"Green day?" I asked. Confused. He nodded. "Is that something to do with weed or-?"

"-Oh yeah totally." He smiled again.

"Of course it is, another impression I had of you." I chuckled slightly.

"What?"

"That you're a stoner."

"I'm just gonna take that as a compliment,"

"Well you probably shouldn't-"

"-Too late!" He shouted.

My phone began to ring as all the boys in the kitchen looked at me.

I picked it out of my phone to see Mae's contact on my screen. A picture of me and her standing with each other Kennedy had took of us from the night the four of us went to the Carnaval.

"Hello?" I answered. Brining it to my ears. Looking at Billie, Mike and Tre who were all still staring at me. Tre and Mike still stood in front of the fridge with the door open.

"Echo! I've been texting you where have you been!" She asked loudly, my volume must have been the full way up, as I'm guessing the three boys could hear her. But I didn't bother turning it down.

"Sorry Mae, I was busy. What's up?"

"Is he there?" She asked.

Their eyes widened in interest.

"Who?" Tre whispered. Mike elbowed him meaning for him to shut up.

"Yeah, he's here." I laughed rolling my eyes.

"Have you spoke to him yet about me!?"

I chuckled slightly at her enthusiasm. "No Mae, I haven't had chance."

"Well you better, anyway. Your moms been texting us all asking where you are. She's really angry for some reason, I told her you was with me and we was doing homework. And you're on your way home right now." She told me. I gulped fast. Shit.

I swear my mom finds a way to ruin everything. Even things she doesn't know about.

"You did?" I asked relief. She had near enough just saved my life. "Thank you Mae, okay well I'll get on my way now."

"Don't forget to talk to Billies friend for me!" She shouted down the phone. I ignored her comment saying goodbye as fast as I could before I ended the call and stood up.

"Where you going?" Billie asked, getting up too.

"My moms angry, I probably shouldn't piss her off anymore." I told him.

"Five minutes wouldn't hurt, right?" He smiled innocently. Walking over to me.

"My moms a strict women." I told him as he walked me to the front of his house at the front door. Tre and Mike still staring at me wondering what and probably who Mae was on about.

"How come?"

"She's really strict when it comes to hanging around with people. She wants me to do this certain shit in life and turn out a certain way and if I some how dissatisfy her she gets real pissy. But guess that's all moms right?" I explained to him. He nodded and smiled.

"Ah, probably best then. Will I be able to see you again- out of school?" He asked me glancing down at the floor scratching the back of his head.

I smiled, he was cute. "Sure, I'll be back tomorrow."

"O-okay, sounds good." He contained a grin as he opened the door for me.

"Wait!" Tre shouted before I managed to step out. I looked over at him confused.

"What was the phone call about?" Mike questioned following behind his friend.

"Oh," I laughed, remembering. "My friend thinks your hot." I laughed pointing to Mike. As I walked out. On my way back to mine as Billie shut the door behind me.
