It had been no surprise that the twins had been expelled from their normie school the moment they had excited the swimming pool. It had almost been as if the principle had the expulsion papers ready premeditating the moment they would be needed. Just like the twins had premeditated their actions. It had also been no surprise that there were still schools that Mortica and Gomez Addams could send their uncontrollable children to. And when they had been informed of the next school on the list of ones to attempt to flee from, Nyx was stopped from making her early escape plans. As it was finally that her mother had listened to her begs. The repetitive asking had finally paid off. As the twins had been signed up to attend the one school that often frequented the psychometric girls mind. Nevermore Academy was finally going to be graced with an Addams walking their hallways for the first time in 30 years. Only this time they had double the number, and two who were quite unlike the usual crop of Addams they experienced. After all neither twin was socially as loud as their father was.
Therefore, sat in the family hearse Nyx was not nearly as upset regarding the current events as her sister was. Not even listening to her parents off tune signing to every song playing was enough to dampen her mood. Nyx had prepared herself for the uncomfortable journey noise level with her noise reduction earplugs in. She gently pushed the right one in slightly further finding the seal incomplete and as the road noise dampened she found the stress her body was displaying lower slightly. Finding as much peace as she could get in the enclosed area, Nyx closed her eyes and rested her head backwards against the headpiece crossing her hands in her lap.
"Darling how long do you intend on giving us the cold shoulder?" Mortica Addam's charming voice would float across the hearse towards her eldest child. The only one actively giving their parents the cold shoulder following the decision to send the girls to another school rather than homeschooling, the option she had been hoping for.
"Lurch, please remind my parents that I'm no longer speaking to them." Wednesday directed at the family butler. Lurch had been someone who had been a part of the family for many years, enough that Nyx could not trace back a time where he was not involved with the family.
"I promise you, my little vipers, that you will both love Nevermore." Gomez responded to Wednesday but his words were enough to cause Nyx to open her eyes and make eye contact with the man, who could only produce a large proud smile to his youngest daughter.
"Why? Because it was the perfect school for you? I have no interest in following in your footsteps. Becoming captain of the fencing team, Queen of the Dark Prom, President of the Séance Society." Wednesday huffed as she spoke her arms folded more tense than usual as she gave a smoldering glare towards her mother. She chose a moment to pause before turning to Nyx hopeful that her sister would support her statement but knowing it was unlikely she would. After all, Wednesday had been suffering from hearing her twins hopeful dreams about going to the boarding school and finding the same love their parents did since they were small girls.
"I'm rather interested to see if the Sèance Society still exists." Nyx shrugged as she spoke, knowing that it was one area of her abilities she wished to learn more about. If anything her Granny Frump had told her was true.
"I'm sure they would be honoured to have you join my thunder storm." Gomez responded to Nyx the two wearing matching smiles for just a moment or so before the reminder came that there was another conversation going on.
"I merely meant that finally you will be among peers who understand you. Both of you." Morticia paused before continuing on taking a second to look at both of her daughters to gauge their reception to her previous comment. "Maybe you'll even make some friends." Morticia added on. She knew that outwards that both of her daughters preferred to be alone. But she also knew that deep down just like any other teenager they also wanted friends, connections outside of their family. And that Nevermore would be the place that out of any there would be a chance that they could actually make friends.
"Nevermore is like no other boarding school."Gomez started still with the intent to sell the school, unaware that he need not to do so for his youngest daughter. Nyx would never deny attending the school and yes her parents often showed just a little too much love for one another around their children but she watched on as her father became much softer as he focused his attention on her mother. They were sickly sweet sometimes in the best way and sometimes in the worst. It would just be fate to work out which way round it would be this time. " It's a magical place. It's where I met your mother."
"And we fell in love." The pair leaned in close to one another and Nyx found that familiar longing she had. The longing to hopefully share a love as pure as her parents. As strong as her parents. And as odd as her parents.
"You guys are making me nauseous." Wednesday interrupted the couple from getting too lost within one another. "Not in a good way." Nyx noted that they remained somewhere within the woods, a sure distance from their location and made the effort to return to her resting state aware that she would need as much rest as possible before the force interaction she would have to go through to meet the rest of the student body at the school.
"Darling, we aren't the ones who got you expelled. That was the work of you and your sister." Morticia tried to once again get Wednesday to see reason, but everyone in the car knew that there was no way to get Wednesday see things from an aspect which was different to her own, it was a reason they loved her so dearly. But was also a reason that they had such difficulty conversing with her surrounding difficult topics. "That boy's family was going to file attempted murder charges. How would that have looked on your record?" Morticia asked the question spoken aloud to the room.
"Terrible." Wednesday answered before Nyx could and considering she shared the same sentiment Nyx chose not to add anything further to the conversation. "Everyone would know that we failed to get the job done." And as Wednesday paused as it appeared as though they had arrived at some sort of large manor Nyx took a second to add another point to the conversation.
"It wouldn't be as though the prison would have been able to keep us in."
The second Nyx laid her eyes properly upon Nevermore academy did she realise that her childhood dreams of the place were not quite right but the feeling she had hoped to have was at least still present. Perhaps it had been some sort of overly childish idea to have had the place look in one way, but the eery dark building which was clearly built in the gothic style was still absolutely stunning. And her parents did not describe it well enough. The place was beautiful and her eyes were drawn to one of the many towers of the building. The large glass windows drew Nyx in and she had a feeling the room she was staring at was likely her new dorm room. Something told her it meant something if she could see it from so far away. A gentle wiggle of her fingers was enough to give an overall feeling of the building, its dark spiralling grey aura told her everything she needed to know. It had many secrets as a building, secrets that Nyx was excited to get to explore and find out for herself.
"Nixie come." The voice of Gomez called his daughter to catch up to them as they were brought through the vast halls of the building and up into an office by a very tall blonde woman. Someone who Nyx had only got to see the back of but she knew that this woman held a lot of power. The family of five were encouraged to take space in the office they had been lead into, the two daughters directed to take the plush seats on one side of the desk with the blonde lady taking the other opposite them. The plaque on the desk reading 'Principle Weems' indicated Nyx to the name of the woman she had missed whilst being distracted by the building she was soon to call home.
"Wednesday is certainly a unique name. I'm guessing it was the day the twins were born." Principle Weems started an attempt to open a door of communication, Nyx watched her closely as she waited for her sister to respond.
"We were born on Friday the 13th." Wednesday responded for both girls looking over to her twin for a tiny bit of confirmation that it was okay, not that she would ever admit aloud to wanting her sisters approval before doing anything.
"Her name comes from a line from my favourite nursery rhyme 'Wednesday's child is full of woe.'" Morticia wore a proud smile on her face, it had been the one thing that Morticia had always prouded herself on, the name choices she had made for all three of her children.
"Any Nyx?" Principle Weems decided to prod the dragon and ask most likely to make the twins feel as equal as possible.
"Jet black hair, and a dark dangerous beauty from birth she was named after the goddess my mother worships." Morticia went to move slightly to place a gentle hand upon Nyx's shoulder before returning her attention back to the principle who was ever so familiar to the dark haired woman.
"You always had a unique perspective on the world Morticia." Principle Weems spoke allowing Morticia a moment to respond accepting a hum before continuing on with her conversation. Continuously trying to make an effort to make the twins feel accepted, connected to the school even something that Nyx could thank her for doing, just inside her head only.
"Did your mother tell you we were roommates back in the day?" Principle Weems asked and it finally dawned on Nyx as to who this woman was, other than the principle that was, after all she had been the one to request story after story from their mother when she was younger about their times at the school during the 90s. Their principle was Larissa the shapeshifter their mother used to dorm with whilst they were students, someone their mother had fought with over the affection of many of the boys at the school. Even if their mother only had eyes for one.
"And you graduated with your sanity intact? Impressive." Wednesday spoke back her voice remaining as monotone as it ever was, no signs of her ever being actually effected by anything going on around them.
"You have certainly had a very interesting educational journey. Eight schools in five years." Principle Weems decided to ignore the comments made by Wednesday and returned to the files laid upon her desk, two clearly similar yet slightly different files.
"Hopefully this might be the last?" Nyx responded, her words phrased as more of a question and allowing for multiple interpretations. Allowing her sister's desire to leave the school be clear through them but her own to stay just as obvious. That was if you were to read between the lines, and all literacy fans knew to read between the lines.
"What our daughter is trying to say is that we greatly appreciate the opportunity to attend Nevermore." Gomez tagged on for the first time having spoken in a little while, Nyx knew he was in the room but she was unsure up until this point just how much attention he was paying to the conversation and how much he was dancing his way down memory lane.
"Nevermore dosen't usually accepted students mid-term, but given the accessional grades of both girls and your family's long history with the school. I've spoken with the board and we have made some exceptions this time around." Weem's words allowed for three people in the room to let out a sigh of relief as Nyx did not know what would happen to the little fantasy she had been crafting in her own head the moment she passed through the gate had their admission been denied.
"Larissa... what about the girls therapy sessions?" Morticia raised a very good point, after all it was a clause in the charges being dropped against the twins. Not that Nyx was sure she was looking forward to said sessions, she wasn't the best with medical figures of any category physical or mental.
"The School has a relationship with a therapist in Jericho, they can each meet separately twice a week." Principle Weems confirmed and then it seemed as though everything was organised and Nyx was finally going to be attending the school of her dreams.
She only hoped it turned out to be the school of her dreams.
And not her nightmares.
