Evening
Arthur is no longer paying attention to his sister talking now, as they continue to relax in the hot tub... Well, he isn't really calm now...
He is watching for a sign of his feline friend, through the gates.
The night is falling now, and it smells like a perfume of its own; the fragrance of various flowers, pool water, sunscreen lotion, and barbecues from the surrounding neighborhood, all forming one artistic blend, like incense. The palms sway, lazily in the wind. It is quite pleasant, so there is only a trace of tension flowing in the air.
He doesn't see her, and Soline finally admits that she is cold, and they both end up leaving the vicinity.
He wonders, as they walk back, who is this Carmen really?
He thinks that each of us has a higher version of ourselves that goes beyond our mundane, earthly identities. He believes this to be explanatory of their preconceived bond.
He is nervous that Nightshade won't return, and he doesn't know where she is from. He does have the feeling, though, that she doesn't belong to a family. She's a rolling stone, like he wants to be... Free.
She may have a family though...
..............................................................................
Later...
He is exhausted and falls into a deep sleep, temporarily exiting this dimension, and falling into the void of stars in his third eye.
Once again, he has left his window ajar...
He wakes up in the middle of the night at 3 A.M. with the feeling of an overwhelming presence seeming to be there.
As he awakes, he turns around to see her on the window sill.
Time feels frozen in this instant, almost like slow motion, as she leaps into the room.
The cat purrs in his arms, a friendly and relaxed glow on her face, and her eyes blinking shut.
This time, he falls asleep with her remaining in his room until dawn.
As the sun rises at dawn, she vanishes back out of the room before he can think to speak again.
