Night: 1
"Patton... Patton, wake up." I whisper. I hear stomping coming towards us. I give up and close my eyes, pretending to be asleep.
"I-I know y-you're not asl-sleep." Thomas's distorted voice seems to taunt me.
I keep my eyes closed and control my breathing.
"D-Don't mak-ke me pry-y your e-eyes op-pen m-mys-self." The nightmare hisses. I don't give in, even though I feel terrified.
There has to be some way to get to Virgil and Roman.
I silently pull my phone out of my pocket and dial his number, pressing send.
Virgil's POV
I feel my phone vibrating in my pocket. I pull it out and see that it was Logan. I answer it and pull it up to my ear.
"Yeah?" I ask quietly, just in case.
Suddenly, I hear a dark glitching voice on the other end.
The Night Terror!
But it wasn't talking directly to me.
I hear tapping on the phone. Confused I listen again. Its Morse Code.
The Nightmare's here. Help.
I end the call and shake Roman awake.
"Roman, come on, we have to go help Patton and Logan." I shake him desperately but my words toss him up quickly.
Roman throws open the door and unsheathe his sword. He throw open the door and see the nightmare leaning over them. I shudder, the thing terrifying.
"Get away from them!" Roman shouts. The thing looks up at us and smiles evilly.
"Oh, look. The chivalry is here." It's body suddenly melts onto the ground and the black goo pours out of the room and down the hallway.
"Patton... Patton, wake up. Oh, please wake up." Logan's words catch me by surprise.
I look over and Patton's limp body lie in his hands as he desperately shakes him. And then I remember.
Night-terrors can kill through sleep.
I rush to their bedside and place a hand to his head. "He's burning up. Roman, get me an ice cold wash cloth, please." I say. He closes his eyes and suddenly a wash rag appears in his hands. He quickly hands it to me and I put it on Patton's face.
"I've heard that if they're significant other sings a song to them, they'll most likely make it back... So..." I look up at Logan.
"I don't sing. I'm sorry... I love him but I just can't sing." Logan says, running a hand through his hair. I could see the tears in his eyes. I put a hand on his shoulder.
"Hey, what if I sing with you?" I ask him.
He nods. "I guess that would work."
"He could be a sinner
Or a gentleman."
Logan nods and joins in.
"He could be a preacher
When your soul is damned
He could be a lawyer
On a witness stand but
He'll never love you like a can
Can
He could be a stranger
You gave a second glance
He could be a trophy
Of a one night stand
He could have your humor
But I don't understand
'Cause
He'll never love you like I can, can."
I drop out to let him sing alone.
"Why are you looking
Down all the wrong roads?" He looks over at me and I nod.
"When mine is the heart
And the salt of the soul
There may be lovers
Who hold out their hands
But
He'll never love you
Like I can, can.
He'll never love you
Like I can, can."
"A chance encounter
Of circumstance
Maybe he's a mantra
Keeps your entranced
He could the silence
In this mayhem."
Logan brushes the hair out of Patton's face and I smile.
"But then again
He'll never love you
Like I can, can, can."
Suddenly, Patton begins to stir and Roman gasps.
"Patton? Patton?!" Logan asks, rather loudly.
I quickly remember and lock the door, shushing him. He nods.
Patton groans. "Logan? Is that yo..." His voice falters.
"Yes, yes, it's me." He pulls him to his chest. "Oh, I thought I lost you." Patton gives him a weak smile.
I awkwardly look away when Patton grabs Logan's tie and brings him into a kiss. As does, Roman. He share a look and nod. We stand, unlock the door, open the door, lock the door, and then close it behind us.
We rush to my room and quickly shut the door, locking it as well.
"So... That happened."
"Yep..."
