Timed
I led Pinetree to my room. Not a single syllable was sounded from either of us. It amused me what had happened between him and Babbcock after the show, after the stupid human's challenge. He had paid for involving Pinetree now he must live up to the challenge.
The doors to my room opened and the both if us walked in. Pinetree walked to the liquor cabinet instantly.
"I won't be needing any tonight." I declared flatly. He looked back at me with surprise and confusion in his eyes, and maybe disappointment? "I have a meeting with Tom and Sock. You will stay here tonight." I continued, straightening my shirt collar as I turned to a full body mirror I had conjured from thin air. "If you want to bathe just think of it and go through the door that led you to a kitchen previously, Dani and Dallia will provide clothing." I straightened my already straight tie and made the mirror disappear, then looked again at Pinetree. "If you're hungry just say so and you will be fed."
I stared at the usually stubborn human on the other side of the room expectantly.
"Alright." He answered softly. He put away the bottle he brought out with his head hung low. I couldn't help but to think that he looked . . . . Cute?
I should the thought from my head and turned to the door. "Good." I concluded. "Behave and good night." I walked out, the doors shutting themselves behind me. I turned right and walked to the main intersection that all the corridors branched from and continued on straight through. Past a few straying demon and companions, a wandering companion or two, a few handful groups of murmuring demons. I stopped before a set of dull plain purple double doors. I took hold of one of the platinum knockers and rapped it against the purple wood six times. Almost instantly the door was opened by my brother. Tad had a look of concern on his face.
I was let into the room. Tom and Sock were already waiting in the sitting area speaking in hushed tones that were silenced as I joined them. I already knew tonight's topic of choice.
"Quite a show, wasn't it?" Tom inquired with anxiety in his voice.
Sock nodded, a bit slower than he would usually with the new found nervousness. "The sudden improv was interesting too."
"I thought so." Tad agreed, joining us with a tray of tea like usual. "Minus the trainer's, er . . . Statement." He added bluntly like the other two weren't walking on spikes with my temper about Babbcock's stunt.
The two froze at Tad's comment. I sighed and took a cup from the tray. "I'm perfectly calm, Tom, Sock." I said. "I will deal with the trainer properly just a bit more severe than Pinetree had." I smirked as I took a drink of the warm brown liquid.'
Tom raised a brow with piqued interest. "The Companion did something to the trainer?" He questioned.
Sock joined in on the interest. "You saw?" The smaller demon asked. "What did he do?"
I chuckled at them. "Wouldn't you like to know what the little brute did?" I taunted.
My friends nodded earnestly but the small distraction ended thanks to my brother. "That aside," Our there's attention turned to the purple clad demon. "The challenge? Babbcock could be the reason for your Timer." He reminded.
The Timer, a mark demons get when death is marked for them. Usually happens when a threat lurks nearby or has been confronted recently and still remains near. Sometimes even the Timer mark is placed were the death wound will be done.
I set down my cup. "I've told you enough times Tad that the Timer appeared after Pinetree was brought here." I replied, undoing my bow tie and top buttons and showing off the black hour glass shaped outline. When it fills up to the top, I will be no more. "Pinetree will be my death."
"Then do something about him Bill." Tad declared. "End him if you must." The look in his eyes was one of many that I was familiar with. The look of a big brother caring for his little brother.
"That will end Will's Pinetree then." I reminded. "Even so he will reincarnate at some point, from Mermaid's bloodline or those stupid books of Sixer's."
Tad looked at me with wide eyes. I know he hates it when I kill, even when it's necessary but he hates it even more when I don't do as the chaos I embody does. I hated going against what I am also, but I won't just buy myself time for the next one. Reincarnations always get stronger than the last.
"Why not blood him?" Sock suggested. The rest of us looked at him oddly. He looked at each of us with another odd expression. "What?" He asked.
Tom hummed thoughtfully, rubbing his chin. "It actually would work." He said after a minute. "As long as it's Bill that presents the raw meat Dipper should become unconditionally loyal and even docile."
The plan made sense, plenty. It just not the condition I wanted him blooded under. My own life against the slim chance of him keeping his sanity. "He hasn't gone through the rest of the requirements for blooding to happen." I reminded hoping not to sound too reluctant to turn my human into an unstudied monster.
"He's right." Sock drawled his agreement with me. "And Dipper's reaction to each test needs to be documented."
Tom nodded. "True as that is," he began. "A lot of demons saw Dipper and the reactions must have already been documented through his own subconscious."
These two, I can't deny, are incredibly intelligent compared to the other so-called brainiacs that claim to deserve being on the head counsel. If only it weren't over my very existence at stake for them to think like I was going to die tomorrow.
"Then it's covered for, correct?" Tad butted in with his plea. "Pines just needs to succeed a few more tests and he can be blooded, right?" My poor big brother, I haven't seen him look so desperate for me ever before.
My two friends and fellow leaders exchanged an unpromising look. Then Tom spoke, "It's not that easy. There's always that small chance Dipper won't last through the tests."
"And if he does," Sock continued for him. "He may not withstand the hell animal blood."
"There's a lot of uncalculated variables Tad." I concluded for them. "Not everything has a positive outcome." I looked back up at him, his amethyst eyes pleading for some good news. He doesn't realize that this is Dipper Pines we are speaking of, even if he was blooded and I bound us as Tamer and Beast, he would still resist and even increase the chance to kill me. But I can't deny that I deserve it.
If there was a compatible animal that-
That mutt the Pines keep for a pet. She would work perfectly with Pinetree. And not only for blooding alone.
"But I think something will work."
