Maverick's Blessing
The most nerve wracking thing Jake has ever done was ask Maverick for his blessing.

At this point in time, Maverick had known Jake for just under a year, both as a pilot and as his daughter's boyfriend. Maverick was always a step ahead of the younger pilots in the air, so why would it be any different on the ground? Besides, it was bound to happen eventually, even a blind person could see how much Jake and Nova loved each other.

So when Jake went with Mav to his hanger in the desert on their one day off, he knew exactly what was coming.

Now, Jake wasn't one to beat around the bush. He was direct and blunt as always. But this… this had him shaken a bit. He was nervous.

Maverick decided to put him out of his misery.

“Yes, Jake.”

He says this in such a way that he could be answering a million different questions. But both men know what he is truly answering.

“I haven't even asked a question yet,” Jake says back. Although his nerves did calm down a little at the abrupt statement from the older man.

Mav gives him a look, all but daring him to finally say it out loud. Jake sighs, before putting down whatever he had in his hands.

“I love your daughter, have since the moment I saw her practically. I already let her go once, I'm not about to make that mistake again. And although I know Nova has said she doesn't care, as she can make her own decisions, I know your opinion is important to her. So, here goes,” Jake takes a deep breath. “Maverick, I'd like to marry your daughter. Do I have your blessing to do so?”

He holds his breath needlessly, because Mav has already answered the question. But Jake needs to hear it again, just to be sure.

Mav smiles, a smile Jake had only seen a few times himself. “Jake, there is no one else on this planet that makes Nova as happy as you do. I gladly give you my blessing.”

And for the first time, and certainly not the last, Maverick brings Jake in for a hug. Happy to know his one and only daughter (biologically speaking) had found someone who loved her to the moon and back.

The Brothers’ Blessing
The second most nerve wracking moment of Jake's life was talking to Rooster and JJ about his plans to propose to Nova.

Again, both men saw it coming. While Nova and Jake were pretty good at hiding their relationship the first time around, they were not subtle this time.

They looked at each other like no one else was around and they were the last two people alive. It was quite obvious what the next step was.

This time, while Jake was still a bit nervous, he was slightly more at ease already having Mav's blessing. But again, JJ and Bradley meant a lot to Nova and their opinions held a lot of weight. (That much had been obvious since the night all their relations were revealed.)

The three men were finishing up at the gym, occasionally going to get a workout together. (I know the three of them together?? But they made it a competition, so that made up for it.)

On their way out to the cars, Jake stopped them for a moment. This was the last chance to get them alone for a while. Better to kill two birds with one stone.

“I've already talked to Mav but I wanted to talk to you two anyways,” Jake began, looking at the two men. Bradley and JJ exchanged glances briefly, having a good idea what this was about.

“Your thoughts and opinions matter to Nova, so I wanted to tell you I'm planning on proposing soon. I already have Mav's blessing, but I would like to have yours as well.”

JJ broke first. “Well it's about time dude! I thought this would never happen!” Jake was slightly stunned at that but accepted the handshake/hug anyways.

They looked over at Bradley, who had for a long time been Jake's main rival in any and every thing.

“I mean, I'm always going to say Nova can do better, but that's because in my eyes no one is perfect enough for her. But I know how much you love her and how happy you make her. And that's all I can ask for.”

So Jake had all the blessings he needed. (He had already talked with Amelia knowing the baby of the group and surrogate little sister would through the biggest bitch fit if he didn't.)

All he needed to do now was find the right time.

Bradley's Girlfriend
It finally happened. Bradley had finally brought a girl home to meet the family.

Bless this woman because she had no idea what she was walking into. But she held her own, and that's all that mattered.

Nova and Jake had been engaged for a few months and were planning their wedding when Bradley casually informed Nova he would need a plus one.

Naturally, Nova screamed so loud the house three doors down could hear her.

She then demanded Bradley bring over this mystery plus one for a family dinner on Sunday, as they were doing a cookout at Penny's.

“Now I've warned you about Nova and her questions and JJ about his tend to make inappropriate jokes at the wrong time,” Bradley was reviewing with his girlfriend, Cece. This was the first time in a long time he was bringing home a girlfriend and he was nervous.

“Yes, and how Jake, or Hangman, will make jokes at your expense for some old rivalry you two had. And how Amelia will either love me immediately or hate me for a while but to not take that personally,” Cece was on top of things, not as nervous as she would have thought. Though that could have been the fact that both of them nervous would have made things worse.

They arrived at Penny's house and walked around the back. Everyone was already there and out. Jake was manning the grill while Amelia and Nova were playing with Theo, Amelia's dog. JJ was rooting through the drinks, tossing one to Taylor before he noticed the new arrivals.

“Well finally! I was beginning to think you bailed.”

Bradley shook his head. “Nova would have hunted me down and killed me.”

“Correct,” the woman in question chimed in as she walked over. She gave Bradley a hug before looking over at the woman attached to his side. “You must be Cece. We've heard a lot about you, all good I promise.”

Cece was a bit surprised when Nova went right in for a hug, but she returned in nonetheless.

As she was introduced to everyone in the yard, she could clearly see this was a close family. Yes, only four people were related by blood, but this was the definition of family.

And to be honest, Cece couldn't wait to enter it herself. She and Bradley had only been dating a few months but she could already feel herself falling in love with the man. It wasn't a stretch to see herself also falling in love with his family. Luckily for her Amelia loved her right away.

So when the transition from Girlfriend to Fiance happened about two years later, it was the best moment of Cece's life.

Amelia's Boyfriend
Oh boy. Here we go.

Ameila, baby of the group, little sister to all, has a boyfriend. And one serious enough to bring home and meet the family.

Now, they had been dating for quite a while, apparently taking after Nova and Jake and not telling many people. The two had met in their senior year of high school and had started dating towards the end. But fortune would have it that they were going to the same college, just for different majors.

Penny, being Amelia's mom, had of course known about this and had met the young man once or twice already. Nova had also known about it, but she hadn't had the chance to meet him.

That was about to change. A family picnic was happening, despite winter being around the corner. They had a string of warm days and wanted to take advantage of it. Unfortunately for Amelia, both Penny and Nova insisted on inviting the boy so he could meet them. (They had been dating for almost a year at this point, and none of the men in the family knew anything about him.)

So reluctantly, Amelia invited her boyfriend. She assured him that she wanted him to meet her family, as she had met his already. But she was the baby and the majority of her family was highly intimidating when they wanted to be.

“I don't think it's going to be as bad as you are expecting it to be,” Emmett said to her as they pulled up to Penny's house. He was nervous, obviously. Especially when he's heard nothing but amazing stories about all of them. But it hadn't fully sunk in that he was meeting the ENTIRE family just yet. (He was not prepared for that.)

Amelia gave him a look. “Not to scare you away or make you more nervous, but two older brothers and one older sister, not to mention their partners, and my step-dad. Of those seven, three are actively in the Navy and two are contracted by the Navy. They don't joke around when it comes to me.”

Emmett gulped, just slightly more afraid than before. “Mel, we've been dating for almost a year. I was bound to meet them eventually. Besides, with all the stories you've told me, I'm really excited to meet them.”

And with that, the two teens get out of the car and head for the backyard. And the first person to see them is the one person Amelia was looking forward to the most.

“Aunty Lia!!” is shouted from the little two year old who runs as fast as her little legs will allow her. Skyler Seresin loves her Aunt Amelia almost as much as she does her parents. And Amelia loves her niece just as much.

With Skye in her arms, Amelia feels a little more at ease introducing Emmett to her family. Although she is slightly concerned when it appears that none of the men were expecting him.

(The women thought it best to not give them time to prepare anything and just spring this on them when Amelia arrived.)

Mav is the first to snap out of it, having had this with Nova as a teen. Out of everyone, he is the most welcoming but don't worry. He will be the one interrogating the boy later on.

Jake, having his own biological sisters, had quickly adapted to having Amelia as a little sister and protected her he did his own. But a quick look from Nova made him rethink his strategy.

JJ and Bradley, on the other hand, stood there with their arms crossed and eyes laser focused onto the young man standing next to their baby sister.

Amelia rolls her eyes, and puts a stop to it quickly, after Nova took Skye back from her. “You weren't even this bad over Nova and Jake and you hated him for years!! Knock it off.”

Bradley snorts at that. “Oh I was worse, Lia. You just weren't there to see it.” Jake and Nova both nod but use it as a segway to move the conversation along.

It goes smoothly for a while, until they are asked just how long they've been together. When the answer comes out, the men look ready to murder the poor kid. But once again, Amelia knows all the dirt.

“Nova and Jake had a secret relationship for two YEARS the first time around. None of you can say anything.”

Emmett has to admit, it's a crazy family. And while he was definitely intimidated by it all, it wasn't as bad as he thought. He had a small family, so seeing this big one, all protective over each other but still teasing to no end, was nice.

It also helped that Skye warmed up to him very quickly, claiming him as new favorite. (Amelia faked being shot at that, betrayed by the announcement. Skye just giggled.)

All in all, it was a good day. The family liked Emmett, he treated Amelia well, he respected her and cared for her. Was it love? Not yet, after all they had a lot of life ahead of them.

But if it turned into love? Well no one would be surprised.

Luna and Alex
Everyone saw this coming.

Luna and Alex had been attached at the hip since they were born. Best friends through it all. Nova and JJ were so happy that their kids were just like them. Until it became obvious that they weren't exactly the same.

The families had seen it start sometime in high school. The two teens were best friends, no one could come between that. But that didn't mean people didn't try.

Luna had gotten her first boyfriend, freshman year of high school. It was one of those innocent dates that they say they are boyfriend/girlfriend but all they really do is hold hands. Hell, they hadn't even kissed before they broke up. But that didn't stop the little green monster from starting up in Alex.

Alex had gotten his first girlfriend the next year, though he had always had girls around him. This was a bit more serious, but the minute she tried to make him choose between her and Luna, she was sent packing. Until that point, Luna had felt something settle in her chest, something she didn't like, but didn't quite understand.

It took a few more years and multiple significant others before the two would realize that what they felt wasn't jealousy because they weren't spending time with the other. It was jealousy because they weren't together, period.

Neither one knew when exactly their feelings switched, but the pining had happened for a few years before anything was done.

It was actually Alex's last girlfriend who gave him that final push. She was a total sweetheart and everyone loved her. She was actually good friends with Luna, never threatened by the close relationship the two shared. And while she knew she loved Alex, it was very clear to her that Alex was in love with Luna. She wasn't mad. Maybe a little disappointed, but all she could hope for was a love like the two clearly shared.

When she broke things off with Alex, she gave him some parting words to think about.

“I love you Alex. And I believe that you truly love me too. But you aren't in love with me. And that's okay. Take some time to think about things. But when you have, tell her how you feel. I think both of you will be surprised with the outcome.”

When Luna and Alex finally got together, it was like the worlds aligned. Nothing had ever felt as right as they did. And their families were just waiting to say “I told you so.”

They dated for two years before finally tying the knot. And while Skye was Luna's Maid of Honor, Alex's last girlfriend was a bridesmaid. Because while she was an ex, she had also stayed a friend. One they themselves acknowledged in helping them get together in their speeches during the reception.

Jake, for his part, did go on to say he was disappointed Luna had married Alex if only because he couldn't intimidate the man. Alex had known Jake his entire life, there wasn't much he could do that Alex hadn't seen or experienced before.

Nova and Taylor tag teamed their speech with all the love and joy mother's could bring. Though they did have their fair share of teasing, especially when the two did everything together as babies.

JJ, as expected, went the route of joking with Jake and Maverick saying the Kazansky/Mitchell line was finally complete. But he, in all seriousness, told the newlyweds that Tom Kazansky would have been so incredibly proud of them both and would have loved them together. He ended the moving speech with the joke that, had Tom still been here, he and Maverick would have had bets placed since they were born and would be in constant competition for best grandpa.

Skye, ever the older sister, went with the most expected speech. “I can not tell you how long we have waited for this day. Seriously, I've been referring to Alex as my little brother since high school and you two had to wait that long to get together?? So inconsiderate, honestly.” That got laughs out of everyone, especially the ones who knew the story.

“But seriously, Luna and Alex have been soulmates since day one and I have always believed that. It was just a matter of what kind. Were they platonic like our Mom and Uncle JJ? Or were they destined in the stars like Mom and Dad? Well, I think they found that perfect mix.”

Not a dry eye was in that reception hall as Skye finished up her speech.

“You two found something most people can only dream of. You fell in love with your best friend. And there is no greater love than finding your person in someone who you can be yourself around.”

Luna had to hug her big sister briefly, unable to hold it in any longer.

“To the newlyweds! Alex and Luna Kazansky!”

Some little headcanons and snapshots of their lives. I liked the idea of seeing a small glimpse of other relationships and how they grow. Also, peep my little Easter egg with Bradley's Girlfriend. Couldn't resist having my baby Cecelia make a little cameo.

But some sad news now. This was officially the last chapter of the bonus content. Some extra stuff will be posted soon, but this is it for actual book content.

I can't believe I actually finished my second fic. And a much bigger thank you is coming later on, but still. Thank you all for going on this journey with me.
