Chapter 7 - Nothing Is Unusual

"We've been standing here for a while now, doing nothing important," stated Arcana, trying to stop a conversation that bored her so much she would've already jumped out the window if it wasn't boarded up because of that reason, "Why don't we show Tyler around? We could go to the town centre. Do some shopping or something."

"I know Saki wanted to go and get some more berries from the market near the train station," Wester added.

"Sure, I don't see why not," Nadess answered, "I'd planned to go to the station sometime soon, you know, just for exploring and stuff."

"That'd be nice," Tyler concluded, truthfully.

She'd like to get to know this place she situated, since she'd only really seen the inside of the house and the outsides of the other houses on the street trough the glass of the windows. But a thought came to her; how did they know she doesn't know the place. She might've just been some random drunk resident of the town who metaphorically washed up on their metaphorical beach (being their veranda). Maybe it was because she was so confused of their appearances, and maybe everyone in the town were weird looking humanoid aliens, she questioned. Not that it really mattered though, she just wanted to find out more about the town she would have to live in for however long this dream would last. She wanted to see how creative her imagination is.

"I'll just go and get my backpack and a change of clothes," said Nadess, who then walked towards the hallway, around the corner, then out of sight. "Don't wanna have to walk home in clothes covered with blood like last time. That walk home was fu— uh... not a pleasurable experience," she concluded from around the corner, hesitating when she could feel Hsakia's stare through the wall.

Tyler's attention was suddenly attracted to the source of a repetitive loud banging noise, which sounded like someone had just fallen down a flight of stairs, and then to the person lying at the bottom of the stairs with their legs splayed across the bottom few steps. It was someone she recognised, but couldn't fully remember. His eyes. His eyes were what she remembered. They interested her. Four black, vertical slits on a white background. They glistened in the faint glow from the artificial light source inside the house.

"For Dog's sake, Tom!" Phoxen shouted as he stepped down the stairs, only just aware of the pile of person at the bottom, "Don't you even know how to use the bloody stairs?!"

"I-I do! I-I just tripped. I'm alright though, nothing's broken." He dragged his legs off the bottom steps and positioned his body upright, then moved out of the way as Phoxen continued to walk down. He stood up and brushed the dust off his t-shirt, unaware of the group of people in the other room, staring through the doorway. Phoxen gave him a small sympathetic kiss on the top of his head, then softly talked to him with words only they hear. They both walked through the doorway and into the main room where everyone else was situated.

"Wonderful performance, Meatloaf." said Nadess, jokingly, "I think you really impressed the human."

Tyler was getting annoyed at being referred to as 'the human'. Tomasn chuckled, trying to hide his embarrassment in front of the guest he'd forgotten was there.

"Thanks, Bean Pole," he said sarcastically, "O-oh, and not to forget about our dear guest, but may I request your name, m'lady?"

He gracefully reached out his hand in Tyler's direction, requesting a hand shake. Tyler noticed he'd put on an incredibly posh accent, different to his regular, British accent.

"Tyler. Tyler Kathryn," she replied, grasping then shaking his hand softly, playing along with his act, "But I think we've met before. Not that that matters through. And thanks for letting me stay in your room for the night."

"Not to worry, dear, for that room is now yours. I welcome you to our community. And I love your choker by the way! I don't think I've ever seen them make a VWM— sorry, voice translator look so fashionable!"

Tyler didn't ever recall having a choker, let alone a voice translator. Free stuff is always good, she thought.

"Bit late for a welcoming, Toast," Nadess interrupted, "If you got your ass out of bed a bit earlier, then the timing would've been a little more valid."

"Anyway," Wester interjected, "Hsakia says why don't we get going. Tom, Fox, get your stuff, were going to Town Centre. Tyler, there's no need for you to bring anything. You can have some of my, being Hsakia's, money if you would like to purchase anything."

"Oh, I'm sure I don't need to use your money. I haven't done anything for you guys, so there's no need to treat me like a —" Tyler protested, before being abruptly stopped by Hsakia's finger on her lip. A sweet and silent, but mildly sinister looking smile was displayed on his coffee coloured, white freckled face. He walked away, and Wester followed. Tyler's body was frozen. She didn't know what to do. She just had to wait until someone told her what to do next. She was out of place again. Everyone went off doing their own thing, but she remained in the kitchen area. This was weird, she thought.

A small gust of wind flowed past Tyler's orange t-shirt, as Hsakia opened the front door to the outside world. A waft of air, faintly stained with the scent of something rotting, had run past her nose and made her slightly queasy. The scent was only faint, but horrible. She blocked her nose by squeezing it with her fingers, but not in a way anyone would notice.

"Shit!" Arcana worryingly shouted as she sprinted out the door, pushing everyone aside in the process.

"Arcana! This is the second time this rotation that you haven't put the body in the pit!" Nadess shouted in reply, later following Arcana out the door.

"But I thought Saki did it!" Arcana argued.

Their conversation muffled as they walked further away from the door which everyone was still crowded behind, but didn't dare to go through.

"What's going on? What happened?" Tyler asked with concern.

"Nothing you should be worrying about." Wester replied for Hsakia, as he hesitantly wrote down words in his notebook.

His expression showed insecurity, him not being sure on whether Tyler's mind would be able to cope with the issue, and how casual they did it. He didn't want her to leave them. He was honoured she, or whoever her subconsciousness was being controlled by, had chosen his house, only to leave due to one measly secret one of his minors forgot to cover. He subtly sticked out his arm as a barrier to stop her from curiously wandering out the door.

"Ty, if you don't mind me calling you that, you can just stay inside with Hsakia and Wester whilst we sort out the uh... issue."

Tomasn and Phoxen both walked out the door, gently closing it as they passed through the doorframe. Tyler was confused. She'd never smelt such a pungent smell in her life. Or, at least, for as long she had been in this town for. She still had no memories before that point in time, and there was no sign of them coming back anytime soon. And why was whatever was outside something these people had to hide from her? She heard the rambling of footsteps and muffled yelling through the beaten up door. It sounded like they were dragging something at one point, Tyler noticed.

"Oh well, I just gotta classify the unordinary as the ordinary, I guess. Right, Hsakia?"

He didn't reply. She sat herself onto the couch to avoid any more awkward social interaction.

She noticed a window. Directly above her current place on the couch. Boarded up, as expected. She also noticed a faint, mumbled noise coming from the outside on other side of the wall behind her. Noises that sounded like words. Words, from different voices, that sounded like: 'Run faster Tom! Can't you go any faster?! Try to catch the darn thing before it does any more damage!' and 'Someone please just grab the leg from his mouth and return it to the rest of the postman's body' and 'Holy shit! It's going to jump through the boarded window!' Then there was a crashing sound, followed by Tyler turning her head around to see what was going on. A long reptile-like, no, mammal-like creature followed the many shards of wood, looking completely unscathed from the debris. The one meter long, indescribable creature sprinted around the room, unsure of its surroundings. It had what looked like a leg, up to the lower knee, forcefully gripped in its mouth, which splattered blood all over the walls, floors and everything in-between. Hsakia stood near Tyler, just staring at the chaos that was occurring in his recently cleaned living room. The beast frantically raced around the room in circles, knocking over many items such as chairs, a footstool, and the television, with its long, scale covered tail, but Hsakia just watched them fall. He didn't even flinch. The creature jumped up onto a wall shelf, only to knock off more possibly expensive possessions, most shattered into a million pieces as they hit the floor. Tyler could feel Hsakia's inner pain, both now being held back from doing anything by an unknown mental force. The worst kind of pain is not being able to prevent something happening right in front of your eyes.
