I landed on the flight deck, Snag hanging onto my tail and Thunder, Shade and the twins beside me. In front of us stood Sonar, the head guard Stormcutter. He was flanked by a Thunderdrum, a Changewing and a whispering death. 'Scorch.' He spat, 'Do you know what you've done?!'

I lowered my head.

'It was all over my son's "internet", Do you know what I saw? I saw you and your friends flying out of a school, with hundreds of humans watching!'

The Changewing spat at my feet, the acid burning a hole through the wood.

'Not only have you released to the world that Dragons exist, You've shown them that they can transform into humans!' Sonar spat at my feet too, 'The alpha wants to see you. Bring the human.'

I eyed Vanessa and the group. Shade was pale, and Snag looked as if he was going to throw up, like he did when he first flew after he transformed.

I lifted up again, and so did the others, and we flew together to the Mountain were my father lived. News travelled fast around the village, and soon the entire village came to watch our flight of shame, some threw abuse and rubbish, I dodged the rotten fish and corrode metal and old rusted axes, Vanessa clinging onto my back, 'Scorch ... ' She hugged me around my throat.

Finally, after what seemed an eternity, we landed in front of my Father's cave. I led us in, Vanessa walking next to me, holding on to my spines in case she slipped.

My father glared at us, and his voice was loud and rough.

'What do you have to say for yourself, Nightfury?'

'I ... It was purely in self defence. I was attacked by a knife.'

I sat up to show him the still bleeding cut on my scaly chest.

'I see and were your friends attacked by knives too?'

'No. They ... They escaped with me.'

'I see, So, they thought to prove the fact that Humans change into Dragons?'

'No! Father - '

'DO NOT CALL ME FATHER!' The Alpha roared. I took a step back.

'Alpha, please, it was an accident on Scorch's part - ' Shade began.

'I do not care. You did not have enough control. And you chose to put yourselves in front of ordinary humans. You CHOSE to put yourself in harms way, you tempted fate, and it took the bait.'

'Father - I mean Alpha - '

'Enough!' Alpha snapped, 'By my word as Alpha, I disown you as my son.'

'No!' I yelled, I ran forwards but was held back by Shade.

'I banish you all from the Island, for Life.'

'NO!' Thunder screamed, and Snag's front legs collapsed.

'You are never to have contact with any dragons again, and if you are seen by a resident of Berk, They will end your life.'

'Please, No... Father...' I begged, hot tears spilling from my eyes.

'Never.' Alpha's control bound me like a vice, I struggled and shook as he spoke, 'Never call me Father again.'

He let me go, I looked down at the ground, 'OK ...' I closed my eyes and looked down.

Alpha Turned to the others. 'Leave. Now.'

We turned and left, slowly walking out. I looked back, Alpha was studying the icy ground hard, a tear dripping down his scaly cheek, before freezing into ice.

I looked at the others when we reached the outside. 'Where now?' Snag asked me.

I blinked. I'd just been disowned by the Alpha, at yet they were asking me for help? I couldn't lead.

'The warehouse?' I asked.

'Why?' Shade asked. I looked at Vanessa, 'I need to take her back home. And Then we can go somewhere remote, far away from here and The school.'

The others nodded and lifted up, And quietly under the cover of darkness we flew quietly from Berk.

There were no songs during the flight, just quiet, flat silence. It came to my attention half way that Vanessa had no idea what was going on, and I speeded up.

When we landed in the warehouse, I changed and hugged Vanessa. 'You shouldn't have come.' I whispered.

'I had to, now what did your father say?'

'... T-The Alpha banished us.' I couldn't say Father. I couldn't. And from that fact alone a tear welled up.

For once I wasn't laughed at for crying, Shade was sobbing on Thunder's shoulder, and even he was blinking back tears, the twins had their arms around each other, and Snag stood at the edge of the cliff, looking as if he was considering suicide.

'For how long?'

'Forever.'

'Scorch! No!' Vanessa gasped.

'We'll spend the night here, then leave. You'll stay here. Go home.'

Vanessa folded her arms, 'No. I'm coming with you.'

'Vanessa - '

'I am!'

I glared at her, 'You're not riding on me, and The others sure as hell won't let you.'

Vanessa opened her mouth to argue, but Shade screamed, 'Snag!'

I turned, Snag was gone. I rushed to the edge, a figure was falling.

'He's committing suicide!' Flight creamed.

I jumped.

Transforming, I flapped my wings hard, The figure came up to meet me, I scraped my claws on the shirt and it tore.

Snag saw me and shouted something the wind whipped away before I heard, I grabbed his torso and brought my wings down, We were slowing, slowing, I stopped completely a metre above the ocean, I saw jagged rocks peaking above the water.

I flew up and dropped Snag on the ground and changed.

'ARE YOU CRAZY!?' I screamed at him, 'WE HAVE ENOUGH PROBLEMS WITHOUT YOU TRYING TO KILL YOURSELF!'

'IT'S EASY FOR YOU!' Snag yelled, 'I HAVE A SISTER AND PARENTS BACK THERE! I HAVE FRIENDS!'

'AND WE DON'T?'

'NOT YOU! WE WERE YOUR ONLY FRIENDS, AND LOOK WHERE IT GOT US!'

'I HAD ALPHA!'

'HE NEVER LOVED YOU!'

I froze, my mouth open, the insult dying. 'What?'

'YOU HEARD ME!' Snag said, 'YOU WERE NOTHING TO HIM! HE WANTED YOU TO BE A BEWILDERBEAST!'

I took a step back.

'YOUR MOTHER DIED GIVING BIRTH TO YOU!' Snag seemed to have forgotten what he was arguing about, and carried on, 'HE'S NEVER FORGOTTEN THAT! HE HATES YOU! EVERYONE KNOWS IT BUT YOUR SO NAIVE TO NOTICE! YOU THINK YOUR SO AMAZING BECAUSE YOUR A NIGHTFURY? YOU WERE NEVER EVEN GOOD ENOUGH FOR YOUR OWN FATHER!'

'SNAG!' Thunder bellowed, 'STOP IT!'

'No, he's right,' I shook my head, 'Alpha never loved me.'

'Scorch-' Vanessa reached for my arm.

'I'm not good enough.' I tried to smile, but it probably looked like a grimace, 'It's fine.'

I looked at Vanessa, 'We're still not taking you.'

I turned and left the warehouse.

I walked along the cliff for hours, thinking, The warehouse faded into the distance. I looked down at the waters below. Snag was so upset he tried to kill himself. Happy, annoying Snag, who never let anything get him down. Was I willing to die?

I sat down under a tree and stared a the moon, it passed over the sky, lazily, and I heard footsteps walking towards me, I turned and saw vanessa sitting next to me.

'I guess I always knew.' I said, 'He never treated me like a son, I thought it was just because he was Alpha, and that he had certain duties, but ... He never even came to my first change.'

'I'm so, so sorry.' Vanessa said.

I smiled, 'Why are you sorry?'

Vanessa didn't answer, but she looked up at the stars.

'I'm coming with you.' She said finally.

'OK.'

'But first we have to explain everything to the others.'

'Others?'

'Steven, the twins, Tim ... '

'Oh.' I sighed. 'Might as well.'

Vanessa smiled and kissed me on the cheek.

'W-Why did you do that?' I choked.

'After today, I think you needed it.'
