The Fox and the Wolf

Hey guys! For this assignment I had to write a fable, and create a moral. I also have to make an illustration, but I'll do that later. Um, I kinda made it violent, so don't read this as a bedtime story to any little kids. The moral is don't trust strangers.

____________

Once upon a time there was a fox. He lived in his den and came out everyday to hunt rabbits and birds, before returning back to his den to eat dinner with his pup. The Fox and his pup lived peacefully, only harming what they were going to eat. The Pup always stayed home when his father was out finding dinner, and being alone was boring.

One day while the Fox was out finding dinner, the Pup got really bored and decided to go outside and play. For a while he rolled around in the soft grass, watching the butterflies flitter over his head. Suddenly, the butterfly that the Pup was watching was snatched up by big, drooling, jaws. The Pup jumped back, startled at the surprise appearance of the wolf.

"Hello young fox!" The Wolf greeted enthusiastically.

"Hello Mr.Wolf!" Said the Pup. "Are you here to play with me?"

"Why of course! But I have a question for you first, do you know when your father will be home?" The Wolf asked, giving the Pup a sly grin. The Pup told the Wolf that his father should be home at dinner time, and when the Pup asked the Wolf why he wanted to know, the Wolf simply said, "Today is your father's birthday, young fox, I'm going to to throw him a surprise party!"

As the Wolf promised, he played with Pup all day. And when It was time for the Pup's father to come home, he hid in the bushes and told the Pup to go wait in the den. Then the Fox came home, carrying a rabbit for dinner. The Wolf jumped out and snarled. "Surprise!"

The Fox dropped his rabbit, and stood in front of the den to protect his pup. The Wolf jumped on the Fox, and drug his claws over the Fox's orange pelt, staining it red. The Pup peeked out of the den, eyes wide with horror, as he watched his new friend attack his father. The Fox tried to fight back, but his struggles were useless against the Wolf, who soon found the opportunity to to clamp his jaws down on the Fox's throat. Blood spurted from the Fox's neck, splattering the Wolf's face, staining his fur a dark red. The Pup let out a squeal of shock, and horror as he saw the Wolf tear out his father's throat. Once the Fox was dead, the Wolf ran off, leaving behind the orphaned pup. The Pup ran up to his father's blood soaked body, and curled up next to him like he usually does after dinner.

Without a father, the Pup had no way to get food. His death was slow painful, both physically and emotionally. The pains in the Pup's stomach didn't come close to amount of pain he felt over the guilt of his father's death. The Pup blamed himself for his father's death. The guilt, the hunger, and the grief of losing his father hastened the Pup's deterioration. It only took a month before the Pup was no more, and the wolf lived happily ever after.
