Chapter 22-Hide and Seek
Alice goes in a trance and it makes no sense, and at this point I'm not even trying to understand this book.
They go to the airport to pick up Edward because apparently he's decided to join them in sitting around a hotel room. Bella uses the age-old, though admittedly helpful, excuse of going to the bathroom to escape the protective siblings. She dashes outside and a hops a shuttle to a Hyatt hotel. I have no idea what her plan is but at least she's doing something.
At the Hyatt, she hails a taxi for her mom's house in Scottsdale. While riding, she imagines herself staring into Edward's face.
Then she gets to her mother's house, which is empty. I thought the vampire was there at the house. Evidently I was confused. Or else the book just makes sense. She now calls the vampire and he tells her to meet him at the ballet studio.
Bella gets to the dance studio and PLOT TWIST! The vampire is playing a VCR tape of Bella's childhood home videos—from which he extracted her mother's voice for the phone call. Her mother is actually in Florida, clueless and happy with her new husband.
I'm so ticked off. You finally give Bella a somewhat noble role in this book and it turns out to be a fake. Like the jabberjays in Catching Fire. I wish I was reading that book instead.
We get a description of what Bella's now-captive is wearing because she would totally notice that moments before her death.,
The vampire gives a stereotypical villain speech but I'm super guilty of writing that myself. However I plan to take it out before it gets published. What's your excuse, Stephanie.
Okay it's been two pages and he's STILL TALKING.,
I don't feel the need to defend myself anymore. Yes, my villain was a little speech-y. But it wasn't two pages long.
THREE PAGES NOW.
Then he bites Bella and she dies.
Praise God in heaven above.
There are only 46 pages left. Praise God in heaven above again.
