I was already wordy about this on Goodreads and by wordy I mean more than two sentences. Basically the synopsis was VERY misleading. I wanted it to be about the synopsis, not what it really was about. But I like true crime so all's well that ends well.

I listened to this on audio. It was...okay. The ending felt rushed. I appreciated the scene of the main character and her father grieving together and mending their relationship. At the end it mentioned a house with chicken legs. I was like HUH???? Because I had heard of a book called The House with Chicken Legs and turns out it was by the same author. This all seemed so meta and I was confused. This will be continued.

I read this on a slow day at work. I normally only truly like graphic memoirs, but this was adorable and enjoyable.

Speaking of graphic memoirs. THIS ONE WAS SO GOOD. I didn't even realize it was by the guy from Star Trek at first. I've never felt so much heartbreak and hope from any other graphic novel, not even Maus or Persepolis.

I read this with a friend. She hated it and I thought it was just okay. The prose and characters were awful.

I had to listen to this as my next audiobook since The Thief Who Sang Storms mentioned it and I was so confused. Turns out Baba Yaga and her house with chicken legs is a widely known Ukranian/Russian legend and this book is just a retelling/reimagining. I had no idea. Anyway, THIS AUDIOBOOK WAS GOOD. Not only for the plot, the characters, the twists and turns, the satisfying ending, but the narrator. A different, convincing voice for every single person, literally sobbing in character, the perfect rises and falls and cadences. I have no idea who that woman was but bravo. She was not reading but performing. And the story itself was so good and convincing I can't believe it was the same author as my previous audiobook.
