What I read in July 2022

I was supposed to start with Swimming to Antarctica for the Goodreads challenge but I had no way of getting it. Every other book I read (not the audiobook) was for the Goodreads challenge.

1.

This was the first book in the challenge. It was simple but makes such a good companion to Red Scarf Girl, which I read recently.

2.

This was on audio and I mostly listened to it in June but I finished it in July. I love The Hunger Games and always will. My books (particularly Warden) exist because of it. So I was planning to revisit the entire series on audio, but it's so much gorier and more disturbing when you're an adult. I'm glad I read these when I did rather than now.

3.

Every bit of this book felt like the 1950s. The dialogue was wooden. The men have to be men (everything from the dialogue to moving to a completely isolated area to swallow, SWALLOW, to keep from getting emotional). The women are so a 1950s man's idea of what women think and say and do. But Melissa's toxic trait is that she's always going to love an apocalypse book no matter what.

4.

This book was an easy read but it sucked.

5.

This is definitely a book you're supposed to keep in your house as reference, not read in one sitting like I did. As a reference it's great.

6.

This was a hard read because it was so much data, but it was so important. I wish every church leader was mandated to read this.
