What I read in February 2019

I'm thinking of making my own book for these because I post in my random book literally just whenever I have a thought or idea and they're getting drowned.

Anyway. I somehow read nearly 11 books in February which is unheard of. I really wanted to hit 11, but in that case we would have run out of space for all the photos with summaries.

If you've been reading this random book long enough, you know how much I love the movie Brooklyn. Love it. So when I saw this at 2nd and Charles, I grabbed it. I thought it was one dollar, but it was four. This book was not worth four dollars. The events are pretty much exactly like the movie, but the tone is completely different. It's depressing. In the movie, we have 20-year-old Saoirse Ronan breathing life and hope into the role, and by the ending you know she is happy. That is not the case with the book. In the book, you find yourself wishing she had never left Ireland. I really did not like it.

This was my first Kid Lit Exchange book of the month. I didn't love it (though I made my Instagram review sound like I did), though it had its merits. The main problem might be that I dislike gods and ancient times, so why would I want to read about them. The character development of the main character was actually spectacular, I will give it that. And it's good to see a book from a small indie publisher circulating and doing well.

I am in love with the world of Harry Potter and I don't know how it took me this long to get my hands on Beedle the Bard. This is a DELIGHT.

This was my favorite book of February. I. Loved. This. Book. I don't want to give anything away. You have to read it.

This was my second Kid Lit book of the month. It read like a basic fairytale, except there were cars, refrigerators, and other modern conveniences inserted almost jarringly. I love that. *Displays my own chaotic world for your consideration*

This was my third Kid Lit Exchange book and I read it in an hour. It was a relaxing, enjoyable hour. A very cute story that I surprised myself by caring about so much.

I impulsively bought this book from a discount damaged sale. I had been meaning to read it, though. If you're familiar at all with Jennifer Trafton, this is pretty much exactly what you would expect from Jennifer Trafton. I will never stop marveling at the ways she can twist words.

I didn't need to post the summary. Everyone knows this story and anyway I wrote a whole book on Wattpad reviewing it. I am still regrowing brain cells.

This book surprised me by how sad it was. Maybe it didn't help that I read the second half immediately upon watching Leave No Trace, when I was already feeling melancholy. I didn't find it boring like a lot of reviewers did, though. It was written well and I like the non-explicit setting.

This is a YA fantasy and in many ways it was genius. The premise sounds like Miss Peregrine, but it was nothing like that. It was funny. I didn't like the ending, but the rest of the book was enjoyable enough to make up for it.

I'm halfway through The Tough Guide to Fantasyland by Dianna Wynne Jones but alas it will have to count as a March book.
