• Chapter 2 •
After a rather weird and memorable encounter with a handsome and intimidating stranger in the dimly lit hotel lobby illuminated by convincing ascented candles that gave a whole different ambiance.
Vritra once again found herself back in the solitude of her dimly lit isolated room a bit far situated from the other ones. taking a glance around her eyes roamed around the room it was low and dark and the scenic view from the windows did provided alot comfort to Vritra.
sitting on her bed she recalled the moments of barely some spent minutes and the newfound information about being stuck inside the hotel for a week, with no permission to go out.
she frequently tried to check her phone for any network availability but to no avail and much to her peace there was no network or internet available at all there was no connection to outside world.
atleast she was able to gather a moment for herself and enjoy sometime for her ownself with no expectations no pressure and no problems. she felt at comfort and ease surprisingly being away from everything for a while.
especially after her rather memorable and unexpected encounter with a stranger back at the hotel lobby, the way he seemed to lingered around her senses alot more than Vritra ever expected or saw coming.
the deep brown eyes, the captivating show stealing smile. the confidence radiating from just existing in the same room, those straightened flirting remarks each small moment of his had Vritra think about him.
it was like sometimes encounter with those people who could be called even perfect strangers. who usually began to intrest anyone at first sight, somehow suddenly all at once before a world had ever spoken.
his carefree and confident aura that seemed to surround her senses , and the way he carried himself with so much ease it was so comforting for Vritra to just be able to witness his presence.
there weren't much people in the hotel she was staying. it was usually quiet and just a couple of people lounging around the lobby of the hotel or by the garden, but being at the same place as the unforgettable stranger being stuck for a week did made Vritra feel nervous and bewildered.
his words, those flirty remarks and teasing smile it all kept replaying in her mind she never in her life felt so calm yet nervous and on fire all at the same time. knowing deep down Abhishek's presence was something that had kept him intimidating and a mystery.
his presence alone was enough to make her feel alive all over again, yeah. the past weeks for her were like a rollercoaster with emotions but Abhishek's arrival made things a bit more easier to look through. there was some kind of familiarity in him that she was craving to witness.
" What's wrong with me ? why i am thinking about a random stranger god." a tired groan came out of her mouth as she glanced at the time which showed it really was past midnight and the night had came up on its peak.
but her mind was filled with thoughts of hers and Abhishek's interesting encounter, the man was just a walking trouble. a trouble Vritra wished she had seen coming.
and she kinda had an idea about how wasn't just someone really random but someone who was known and celebrated too in whatever way it was possible, she felt so stupid to keep thinking about his flirtatious remarks that seemed to make her stiff and think.
what even was this man at all.
being a night owl, it was not an easy task for Vritra to depart to bed at that time which was normally really late and to not able to help with her habit, she went with the idea of taking a walk in the garden outside.
grabbing her phone she wrapped a shawl around herself and decided to pay a visit to the garden outside that looked really inviting to have a walk, she knew this trip was going to charge her mentally for a really long time and she was happy and satisfied with that fact.
pressing the button of the lift through the ground floor, she took a deep exhale letting the calm and fresh air silent her anxious nerves. knowing one week couldn't be that bad. or atleast that's what she thought.
Abhishek on the other hand was dealing with his own set of problems in most dramatic way possible. standing in every possible corner of his room whether standing on the coffee table or sitting upon the wash basin of his bathroom, with his phone in his hand trying to find a single line of network.
but his weird possibilities of positioning his body in different angles and corners of the room didn't came handy as the words of ' poor network connectivity ' shined right upon his face in his dark room.
he promised his sister komal to call her once he would reach the hotel and check in. but coming here awaited another set of surprises for him as one week of free boring entertainment awaited in his room.
he came Darjeeling to explore some extraordinary gorgeous places, away from the hustle and bustle of the never stopping world which was always in a rush. in the hope of fullfillment of given pressure and expectations that everyone had.
sometimes from their own selves and sometimes from other's as well, Abhishek realised after a perfect domestic season and a successful 3 match t20 series against New Zealand, where he was also the player of the match.
he knew a little break from all the chaos and growing pressure wasn't going to hurt before the new cricketing season begin, because as much as he enjoyed and cherished those. the growing expectations could be overwhelming sometimes. that used to blank his brain .
so as to avoid those mental setbacks and flourish more in upcoming challanges a solo trip was surely going to work like a therapy in his never stopping life always in the spotlight, the camera flashes and screaming cheers.
yeah, he worked really hard to get those to achieve this. the newfound success and he didn't wanted to let it climb over his brain the tough discipline and a chilled calm mind was something Abhishek was willing to have as long as the cricketing season was on.
but on the Darjeeling trip being stuck in a hotel was definitely not in his bucket-list and exploring the storage rooms and secluded places of the isolated hotel instead of appealing hills and admiring greenery .
sighing softly letting out an annoyed scoff he glanced towards the window wondering how he was going to survive a disaster of seven days trapped in a secluded hotel like this. which was well enough of a distance from the main town.
between the scenic beauty of the hill station and the greenery all around as far as his eyes could roam around. it was indeed a relief to stay away from the world outside but coming here wasn't as pleasurable or exciting as he expected . but the unexpected vicissitudes of the trip did made the dream of having an amazing trip made everything absolute unexpected.
he knew he wasn't going to sleep anyways, and the thought of roaming in the garden down the ground floor under the dark starry sky sounded anything but bad . and maybe he could catch up with a little bit of network outside checking up on the outside world and his family members too.
walking along the wet pavement while his eyes remained glued to his phone the gentle breeze caressed his skin he smiled in satisfaction because the air was immediately on the job of calming all of his senses down.
" seriously dude the network here sucks to be honest." he muttered to himself while aimlessly roaming around the green area with plants everywhere. but another second his face brightened up morphing into one of the gorgeous grin because the notification ping on his phone.
fumbling with the screen when he saw the amount of notifications flooding upon his phone's screen doing a little internal celebratory dance. finally there was network and he would be able to response to his friends and family.
" you have so many people to find about if you disappeared from the planet or something huh?". Turning around he frowned surprised by the voice as well as the words but first gave priority to know if he was guessing right about the said person.
" And you sure you aren't following or stalking me ? i know i am certainly attractive but didn't expected you to get obsessed." he flashed Vritra one of his infamous grins tilting his head in a hope of engaging in a playful banter.
" oh please you and your delusional mindset. i was just surprised by the constant sound of notifications and the amount of people waiting for you to show up and announce that you weren't dead." Vritra gave a bored eye roll clearly uninterested in delusional self of Abhishek.
but the unexpected encounter in the quiet garden looked promising to hold up for many things in future that both Vritra and Abhishek could sense really well.
" what about you ? counting on the stars ? because you look frustrated enough to punch someone right now?" he asked leaning against one of trees wanting to get relaxed and comfortable while sharing the conversation with her.
" what's all this exactly? i am slightly irked up by this whole management didn't exactly planned on being stuck in a curfew while being on a trip did you?".
she indeed had a point and with the way she spoke a hint of aura and confidence indeed radiating off in comparison with the previous encounter back in lobby. Abhishek just chuckled in response nodding in agreement, his gaze lingering at her face.
" i came here to recharge myself before again getting indulge in the rush of the world not exactly being part of a curfew plan." He shrugged looking as equally disaapointed as her.
Vritra shifted up her attention from the tiny little flowers back to the stranger man she somehow loved the company of.
" it's just how it is expecting the unexpected i don't know about you but i want to get away from all this setup as fast as possible?" she spoke in much softer tone this time crossing her arms across her chest.
Abhishek on the other hand didn't exactly hated all this ? now realising he happened to get a good company of a woman with captivating personality. who was just a walking ball of ' i am too tired for everything ' attitude.
" come on, you can trust me upon this you know? i can make this trip thrilling as well as entertaining for us, considering that's what we got for whole week ?" Abhishek managed to give her an easy grin, but the mischevious twinkle in his eyes said and spoke about something else.
" you are so sure about being an entertaining and good company don't you?" Vritra asked with slightly narrowed eyes her heart kind of fluttering at the newfound sensation.
" come on sweetheart we both know you are enjoying my company? don't you, with the way you looked at me when i arrived i am taking guarantee of that." Abhishek couldn't help but enjoy the frown that appeared on her face .
the more he talked to her, the more captivated he got of her whole self. and the shine of her brown dark eyes under the bright stars. Abhishek Sharma surely knew this trip was going to be alot more interesting than he thought of.
" have you taken a degree or something in flirting with the strangers in an ongoing solo trip?" Abhishek chuckled softly shoving his hands in his pocket, he just stepped a bit closer the scent of her perfume was intoxicating yet so calm.
gazing intently in her chocolate brown orbs he took a soft breath, his eyes slowly searched for any hesitation and discomfort in Vritra's nervous yet questionable gaze. but he happened to find nothing and that somehow gave him much more confidence.
" not just anyone, but when someone is as beautiful as you how can i stop myself to check if i have a chance or not ?" his hot and soft breath could be sensed by Vritra contrasting with the chilled air engulfing them around.
she let out a soft breath, with her eyes remaining on his face and they both could feel some effect and tension around them. the slight tension was palpable and both knew they both were affected by each other than they actually admitted.
" and what do you think ? you have a chance?" she asked in the same whisper his pretty brown eyes, an appealing smile and a mind full of thoughts.
And vritra couldn't help but feel a bit more tilted towards him and his words. it was just one boy but thousand of feelings. " maybe i do, but i will keep trying until i get succeed." he nodded with a mischievous and playful glint in his eyes. with all of itself being affected by Vritra.
Vritra gave Abhishek a scoff turning her attention back towards the small flowers growing by the side the cool air happened to make those strands of her hair fall upon her face. and the way moon shined above her face made her look different from anything else.
Abhishek swallowed hard as he watched her playing with those small flowers and the way her lips twitched up in curiousity it made his heart beat faster than he expected, was he about to have a heart attack or something?
did he minded being stuck here for a week with a certain gorgeous woman sharing the same hotel as him ?.
no not at all.
" i am actually frustrated i didn't came here to explore at all tho" she spoke in a dull yet calculated tone letting her hands fall upon her sides. and Abhishek realised he had to listen to her as well instead of just staring like a fool.
" and why are you frustrated?" Abhishek asked looking more interested in the conversation than anything else around him interested him. " its a big story." she sighed her voice drained the shine and laced with a sadness.
she stared into a hollow, lost in the memories as her face spoke of the thoughts that lingered in her brain the dew collected on the green grass and sound of crickets around made the moment and conversation between them more meaningful.
" well you and i aren't going anywhere for whole week, so you know? i got a lot of time." he managed to gave her a soft nod his tone filled with a gentle caress and comfort that he was going to be there for her no matter what.
it all felt like a promise that he was ready to listen whatever she was willing to offer him. " and why should i tell that to a stranger?" she asked tilting her head a bit but her words betrayed her heart. because her heart spoke to offer whatever it was holding back in the solace of this stranger.
" because this stranger isn't going to judge or stay opinionated neither he would let the secrets of words out." he smiled reassuringly with his eyes remained fixed on her. a firm assurance that he was going to listen .
and Vritra felt herself getting melt and easily convinced by the words of him. and a soft genuine smile played upon her lips as she stared ahead thinking about maybe the weight would be holding so much together would lift off from her chest.
she just could feel lightening running through her veins whenever she looked at him. and just like that she started the happenings and stories related to her life looking in his breathtaking eyes .
their words flowed really easily, a genuine comfort and convenience shared around the air as if they knew each other since forever even for once none of them felt like it was getting awkward or uncomfortable.
it was a real deep conversation as Vritra unveil herself before Abhishek step by step starting from the childhood dream of hers to become a lawyer to the emotional trauma of dealing with the demise of her grandmother. the deep intellectual conversation held a lot of meaning and strength bound by no obligation barred by any human obligation.
And she swore she could feel alot more better than ever before the way he listened to her as she spoke about the vulnerabilities and weaknesses as well as the quality memories she could feel a genuine connection building up towards them. a silent understanding of each other.
they both talked about their dreams and their aspirations, the unavoidable expectations and the pressure that it carried sometimes and how overwhelming and stressful it could be sometimes. the genuine and comforting words they both were scared of telling anyone else.
" an international Indian crickter sitting in a random garden of a hotel asking a simple girl about her life huh?" Vritra could feel the confidence bubbling up with every word she shared with Abhishek.
" maybe she consider herself just to be a simple girl but from my eyes she is much more than that. she is strong and carries herself perfectly, and being a lawyer is hot." Abhishek spoke in a low teasing tone and winked an easy demeanor plastering all of them around.
Vritra felt heat rising up to her cheeks her heart thudding right against her chest, with him she felt like she really meant something. a playful eyeroll in the response to mask away her blushing face was what Abhishek got in response.
"maybe this curfew won't be as bad as we throught." he added his voice genuine and considerably soft with eyes locking to Vritra's shining with a peace that seemed to lingered around them.
"maybe." Vritra's tone also softened as she gazed deeply into his eyes, an unspoken connection building between them that promised to have alot more surprises in future.
