Chapter 11-Ziva
"I've decided I don't want a protector."
I smiled as I saw the weight of being a protector lift from Leo's shoulders. Maybe now he would treat me better. My joy was short lived as I felt pain once more. A dark shadow seemed to come over me and my vision became cloudy.
"You have killed many but you must kill those that seem innocent as well. Just like your mother," a haunting voice sounded inside my head. The evil voice seemed to hypnotize me. Alastair's voice echoed into my head from a distance as I regained my vision.
"Don't listen to her if you know what's good for you. Humans shouldn't be able to listen to her." Alastair whispered into my ear,"Don't forget I'm here for you,"
I felt calmer as I became more aware of myself. Even if he had been a nuisance, I couldn't ignore the way he had saved me but something was bugging me. Humans shouldn't be able to listen to her. Why then had I heard it? Was I not a human? A thought appeared into my head as I remembered a place the Headmaster went to many times a week. He had called it a truth temple. If I went there, would I be able to know the truth?
Just then, the headmaster suddenly came into the scene. I wasn't sure what he was saying but didn't miss his cruel expression when he looked at me. I felt that he had something planned for me that wasn't something I would have wanted. The feelings from ten years ago came back to me, this time stronger than ever. I had a sickening feeling in my gut that something terrible was about to happen, and judging from Leo's grim look, I knew he thought the same way.
