Chapter I: Visions of Mist
As the mist rose above the pond, a dark figure emerged. A naive teenage girl stood staring as it rose above the mist. Her ice-blue eyes grew wide with fright as she realized it was creeping closer. With each step the figure took, she felt smaller, yet she couldn't tear her eyes away. She didn't want to die when she was only a teenager; she had so much more life ahead of her! Everything she had ever done came back to her in a flood of memories and she begged forgiveness.
The figure slowed to a halt a few feet in front of her and began murmuring inaudible phrases. She strained her ears to pick up bits and pieces of what it was saying, but its staticky voice had lowered until it was barely a trickle of sound. By now, she had discerned that it was a ghost, or even a demon, although the concept of it trying to communicate with her was very puzzling. Just as that thought went through her mind, the ghost glided forward and passed straight through her, as though she wasn't there.
The chilling sensation knocked her out of the shocked state she was in and her instincts were screaming at her to turn and run, but curiosity got the best of her. She forced her trembling legs to trail the nimble ghost. She stopped abruptly as she bursted out of the dark forest, and into a clearing. The ghost had halted and stood facing her again. This time, however, she observed its features from a distance and noticed it had only two black pits where its eyes should have been.
