Namara was vaguely aware of Steve kneeling down beside her, pulling her off the cold ground. Strong arms wrapping around her, pulling her close. 

 "Namara..."

"Steve."

 She opened her eyes, staring up at his face. His eyes were glistening with unshed tears, his cheek smudged with blood. "Don't cry because of me."

 "Namara, your going to be fine. It's gonna be okay. Just look at me."

 "I'm not anybody important. No one to cry over. Just a kid from the gutter...not really. Anyone."

 Steve felt like his heart was being torn in half. That after all this, Namara still didn't think she mattered.

 "You matter Namara. You do."

 She smiled weakly, blood running from her nose and down her face. Namara tried to speak, but choked on her own blood, coughing. 

 "Not really Steve. I'm supposed to be dead. Supposed to have died in my Circus, all those years ago. But you've gotta live, promise me," Namara coughed, "Promise me you'll make a life for yourself."

 "No Namara. Your going to be fine."

 "Thank you so much for making me feel loved."

"Namara, your okay." Steve knew those words were empty, there was already of pool of blood around Namara, and it was getting bigger by the second. 

 "I'm so tired Steve," Namara said weakly. "So tired."

 Her eyes, those beautiful eyes that Steve loved so much, stared up at Steve. But they weren't seeing Steve, just staring blankly up. They weren't seeing anything.

 Steve stopped holding back his tears, and they fell, splashing down onto Namara's face. She couldn't be gone, she had to have healed. Any second now she'd wake up and tell him to stop with the blubbering. 

  Namara Ackermann, a woman who didn't think she mattered. But had saved so many people, made an impact on so many people. She was one of the bravest, strongest people Steve had ever known.

 Namara Ackermann. Someone people had seen as a monster, as a freak, something to be caged up. But someone who had actually been someone who was a true hero.
