inside jaewon's head was a huge, dark cloud replaced every little positive thought that had come to him during the past months.

after all these years someone had finally made him feel alive again. but even though he was sick, it didn't mean he was blind and deaf.

so jaewon saw how hyunjoo looked at doctor kang sangwoo the way he would look at her himself; he heard how she laughed whenever the doctor made a small joke.

he couldn't figure out why, but there was a sting in his chest which wouldn't go away for days. while he lied down on his bed staring at the cold grey sky, when he realized something: he'd never be able to exist outside the hospital.

his whole world had been downsized to thie one hallway; he should've just stopped caring before it all became too much.

the second hyunjoo entered jaewon's room she knew something was wrong, so she carefully stepped closer.

it was dark due to the lights being turned off and she couldn't really see anything, but there was a strange smell in the air and the area of jaewon's bed appeared even darker.

"jae? what is this?" she asked into the silent room and didn't get a reply, she reached out- and felt the wet fabric. "shit, what did you do?" she mumbled while searching for the light switch at the night stand.

when she finally managed to turn on the lights, her heart clenched; there was blood all over the bed sheets, while jaewon lied with his eyes half closed and not moving an inch.

okay, you have to stay professional now she told herself, but it worked only partly. since she couldn't find the security wristband on jaewon's bloody arms, she just yelled for doctor kang and the other nurses, while trying to make a compressor out of everything that came to her hands.

the problem was just... jaewon had multiple injuries.

seconds that seemed like eternity later another nurse and doctor kang rushed in and as soon as they saw, they helped hyunjoo with the bandages and checking for the vital signs.

luckily this had happened at a hospital, so a few minutes later the emergency doctors arrived and took jaewon away. well, from jaewon's perspective this wasn't quite a lucky circumstance, but who could know.

after jaewon had been carried out on a litter and she had finished her job, hyunjoo collapsed in the middle of the hospital room alone.

actually she didn't know for how long she had been crying next to the bloody bed, when someone rested a hand on her shoulder.

yet she couldn't find the power to look up immediatly.
