Taehyung let out a deep sigh as the cold air surrounded him the moment he stepped out of the car. A strong arm was quickly wrapped around his waist, pulling him against a much warmer body, the body of his alpha.

It felt wrong to think this way.

Everyone called him Sooyun's mate, Sooyun's omega, Sooyun's boyfriend, he physically belonged to the boy in each and every way. But mentally, the attachment to his fated mate wasn't there. Even though his body tingled whenever the alpha touched him, even though his heart leaped when he called his name, even though everything Sooyun did brought joy to his wolf, Taehyung wasn't happy.

His mind wanted Jungkook. His human soul was battling his wolf every damn day and the fight tired him, brought a weight upon his shoulders that on some days he couldn't bare holding. It would be so much easier to just submit to his fated mate and be done with it.

But Jungkook.

Jungkook. Jungkook. Jungkook.

It was all his brain told him to run to.

Sooyun's friends surrounded the two mates, having waited for them on the school's parking lot so they could go in together. Taehyung's legs started moving as soon as he felt the other tug his hand forward, mind seemingly on auto pilot.

Weeks ago he had imagined this day in a completely different way. He'd take the bus to Jungkook's place where the alpha would be waiting for him at the bus stop, wild daffodils in his hand and big grin on his face. They would kiss at first sight, drinking into the other's appearance before walking to school together in the cold but heartwarming night.

Instead, Sooyun had picked him up at his house clad in an expensive suit, standing in front of an expensive car and offering him an expensive bouquet of flowers. His mother had squealed in joy when she took a picture of the pair, excitedly shaking the camera around up until the point his father had taken the thing to snap a decent picture himself.

The group made their way inside, immediately catching the attention of surrounding students. People stopped and stared at them and the arm around his waist tightened as Sooyun basked in the attention they received the more they got inside.

The omega peered down at his black shoes that shone in the artificial lighting, relief washing over him as his blonde hair fell into his eyes and blocked his sight. He felt too exposed, too flashy and he nervously tugged at his suit jacket that was uncomfortably bright against the other suits.

He had bought his golden suit with the help of his sister, but now, he felt like it attracted too much unwanted stares and whispers. His focus was completely nowhere and all he tried doing was breathing in deep to shake off some of the anxiety waving through his body.

Before he realized it his name got called through a microphone, flinching he heard the word bouncing off the room's walls and seemingly slapping him in the face. His arm got tugged forward and he tried his hardest not to stumble as the sea of student surrounded them split open.

He wasn't aware where they were heading to, wasn't aware of the shiny crown being placed on top of his head and suddenly he found himself in the middle of the dancefloor with the other students creating a big circle around them.

Taehyung watched how his mate stepped closer and wrapped his arms around his waist, feeling the tingles spreading underneath the other's hands. Sooyun stared at him, expectantly, and he could feel his arms move to rest upon the alpha's shoulders.

They slowly began to dance.

His skin was pricking, aware of all the eyes on just the two of them. The room started spinning and the music around them softened as the whispers of the students seemed to boom in his ears.

His breath quickened but Sooyun didn't seem to notice, too caught up in the attention of the surrounding people. Taehyung's eyes flitted around, trying to hold on to something, trying to stop his heart from panicking. But the faces all blurred together and the crown on top of his head seemed to be burning his head.

He wanted to run and the moment he braced himself for the dash he was about to make towards the door, his eyes found Jungkook's.

The alpha was leaning against the side of the room, face blank, lips pulled into a frown and eyes glistening with tears. Tears, tears Taehyung had caused by being here, in the middle of the dance floor, slow dancing with what was supposed to be his true love.

Jungkook seemed to flinch when he noticed how Taehyung kept staring at him and he tentatively smiled. He smiled through the tears and Taehyung's heart squeezed at seeing the boy so heartbroken. All he wanted to do in that moment was run to him, press his lips onto the alpha's and dry his pretty tears. But the arms around his waist constricted him from running, the tingles reminding him of who the boy in front of him was. This was his destined mate. Someone chosen for him before his birth.

It was bullshit, he suddenly realized.

He saw how the raven haired boy pushed himself off the wall, eyes facing the floor as he headed towards the door.

He wanted Jungkook, he then concluded.

He couldn't lie anymore. It had been clear since his birthday but he had tried forcing his human side to reconcile with his wolf. But he was done with it. He didn't want to run away from his true feelings. His true feelings which weren't directed to his true mate but rather belonged to the pretty boy who closed the door behind him, leaving Taehyung to stare at the closed barrier between them.

Taehyung pulled Sooyun outside as soon as the song ended, the room too suffocating for him to be in anymore. During that one song he had come to a realization he had been trying to ward off ever since his birthday.

He still was madly in love with Jeon Jungkook.

Sooyun seemed bewildered at the sudden action of his mate as they stumbled outside, breath having from almost trying to follow the omega. He seemed to notice that something was wrong and he stepped forward, trying to comfort him.

His face fell as Taehyung's hands immediately came forward to push the alpha away from him. Taehyung looked down, his inner wolf howling at the hurt confused expression spreading onto the boy's face.

"Taehyung", Sooyun spoke slowly and he watched how the omega took a big step back, "What's going on?"

This was it. He was really going to do this. It was going to crush both of them, maybe even killing one of their wolves in the process but it was something he had to do. He couldn't live a lie like this anymore. He had to follow his heart.

"I-I don't think I can ever fall in love with you", Taehyung stumbled, heart squeezing at the hurt expression on his mate's face. The words he spoke were strong and harsh but it needed to be said.

Sooyun faltered for a moment before speaking, "Baby what do you mean?"

Taehyung gulped, hands feeling clammy as he grabbed onto his tie, needing to hold onto something. "I'm in love with someone else".

He could've stabbed Sooyun with a knife and it would have hurt less. He was killing him with every word he spoke but it had to be let out. He watched how the alpha's face contorted into anger before he took a strong step forward, hands balled and shaky.

"No- you can't be", he yelled and the omega flinched at the loud tone of his voice, "I am your mate Taehyung".

Tears welled up in the blonde's eyes and he let out a trembling breath, "I'm really sorry Sooyun. But my heart belongs to someone else, has belonged to him for a long time now".

A hand grabbed onto his tie, pulling him forward until they were nose to nose. Taehyung sensed the other's fury, could almost taste it on his tongue. This was a dangerous situation to be in, alone with a heartbroken alpha.

Sooyun let out a deep growl, before he slowly spoke, "You can't leave me for some fucked up alpha".

"I am so sorry Sooyun", Taehyung replied, ignoring how the other's fist tightened around his tie, almost choking him, "But to me, you're not my true mate".

He was angrily tugged forward and he let out a cry when his neck was tilted aside.

"Sooyun! Please no!", he yelled but his voice changed into a scream as teeth sunk into his neck. The pain felt excruciating to both of them as a bond got forced against the omegas will.

Blood dripped onto the floor.

"You are mine".
