spoilers: the lighting thief

trigger warnings: kidnapping. threatening of death. guns

plot: Nico's been kidnapped/ put in dangerous situations a lot, that's not a secret, and neither is Nico being tired of it. so one day while he's kidnapped picking up Ben he just lets it all out on his kidnapper, Nico decides it's time to judge his kidnappers and their jobs finally. ways to get points- 

1. they keep him contained to where he can't escape without help. 

2. they don't use the basic "white minivan and warehouse." tactics. 

3. they don't take him by saying "Hi kid, your mom told me to pick you up." 

4. if they make him worry.

5. how well can they threaten him/ follow through on their threats? 

is this smart to do? probably not.

3rd person pov. . .(Nico's)

     Nico doesn't understand why Ben insisted on going to public school. who wants to sit in class for eight hours a day and then go home and do hours of homework? Nico liked that he could not doing any school better.

     Nico sat outside of ben's school waiting for ben when he was grabbed from behind. Nico could tell it wasnt a monster so he was excited to try out his new pointing system. it gives him somthing to do while he waits for will to beat the bad guys up.

     Nico still struggled to get away, not only is that part of the point system to see how far the kidnappers could take him without him escaping but also because will would kill Nico if he didn't at least try and get away.

    so that's what Nico did. 

     "stop struggling kid! i mean it!" the kidnapper ordered, "i have a gun and i will use it."

     "please, i know that's just a threat. you won't use it." Nico snarked.

     the kidnapper then took out a gun, "really kid?! think i wont use it? i will! so stop struggling and come with me."

     the school bell then rang and Nico heard the kidnapper swear.

     "Nico!" ben yelled at seeing the sight of his brother.

     "Merda." Nico muttered in Italian.

     Nico felt the gun be pressed to his head. normally Nico would get out right away but he decided to stop struggling for the shake of ben and the other kids. Nico didnt want to make them be in danger.

     Nico was forced into a white van and felt his arms and legs be tied together. "well they're already at negative one point. if they take me to a warehouse they'll be negative two." Nico thought. the kidnapper with the gun moved to the seats and the van drove off.

     Nico didnt know how long the kidnapper's drove, only that his arms and ankles were numb from the ropes cutting off circulation. the van stopped and Nico saw the first kidnapper head towards him.

     "where are we? a warehouse?" Nico asked.

     the kidnapper glared, "i dont know how you know that kid but you better shut up before i gag you."

     "negative two points. not looking good so far." Nico thought.

     the kidnapper grabbed Nico and threw him on the gravel ground.  Nico sat up and took notice of the two kidnappers for the first time.

     kidnapper one Nico decided he would name him L because its simple and Nico didnt want to keep calling them kidnapper one and two. L had brown hair and a scar across his cheek. he wore a black trench coat and an all black outfit.

     kidnapper two (J) had red hair and she wore the same outfit.

     "where's the originality?" Nico thought.

      "cover his eyes." J ordered, "i dont want him seeing anything."

     L stepped forwards and tied a blindfold around his eyes. Nico then felt himself be dragged, he realized he was inside the second the flooring changed. Nico felt his hands be forced above his head and he was forced to stand. Nico heard two sets of footsteps walk away and tried struggling.

     Nico hated when his hands were forced above his head. not only was it uncomfortable it was super hard to escape. "seems like they might be getting one point." Nico thought, "they'd still be at negative one though." Nico swung his body and managed to get his wrists free from whatever forced them up. the only bad thing is that it made a lot of noise, and Nico got the wind knocked out of him.

     Nico ripped the blindfold off of him and worked to untie his feet. once his ankles were free he could run and then work on his wrist's when he was safely away.

     before he could get out of the warehouse both L and J ran into the room. L had a gun in his hands and raised it upwards. 'BANG'

change of pov. . . 

3rd person pov. . .(ben's pov)

     ben hated when his teacher forced him back into the school. if his teacher's knew ben's other life they wouldn't have pulled him back inside. 

     "let me go back out there! that's my brother!" ben yelled.

     "ben, it is too dangerous." the teacher told him.

     "then at least let me call my cousins to come pick me up. i dont want to be here anymore."

     "alright."

     ben ran to the bathroom and locked the door, ben turned on the broken school sink and watched as a rainbow appeared. ben took out his extra golden drachma and spoke.

    "oh goddess iris, please accept my gift and contact Percy Jackson at camp half-blood."

    the rainbow shimmered at Percy appeared. ben would've originally called will first but he knew will was in surgery for Connor Stoll who got impaled during capture the flag.

     "ben?" Percy asked, "what's going on? where's Nico? shouldn't he be with you?"

     "he got kidnapped again and the school wont let anyone go outside until their parents are here. i need you to come pick me up." 

     "ill get Jason and we'll be right there. does will know?"

     "no. he's doing surgery on Connor remember? i wouldn't have been able to contact him."

     "right." Percy said, "ill let him know and the three of us will be there. stay safe."

     Percy and ben both waved through the mist and ben returned back to his class mates.

     "they're on the way."

change of pov. . . 

3rd person pov. . . (Percy's pov)

     Percy immediately stood up and made his way to  Jason's cabin. when Jason answered Percy explained everything and the two made thier way to the infirmary.

     "Percy? Jason? what's wrong?" Chiron asked.

     "Nico's been kidnapped." Percy said, "we need to tell will."

     "I'll go get him." Kayla spoke.

     Percy jumped, "had you been there the whole time?"

     "yeah, seems like you're loosing your skills Percy."

     Kayla walked away and Percy turned to Jason.

     "am i loosing my skills?"

     "no." Jason said.

     seconds later will walked out of the surgery room in his surgeons clothes and took off his mask.

     "I'm ready to go."

     Chiron cleared his throat, "shouldn't you change William?"

     will looked down and his face turned red from embarrassment, "i guess i should. . . i dont want ben's school to question anything. just one sec"

     will turn back around and walked into a room. a few minutes passed and he had changed into his blue cargo shorts and an orange camp t-shirt.

     "let's go."

     Percy, Jason, and will headed outside of the big house and took off.

change of time. . . (same pov. . .)

     they arrived at ben's school and saw a thousand police and reporters outside. 

     "that's right new York. teenage Nico di Angelo has been kidnapped once more. we have to wonder. how does he keep getting kidnaped? what makes this young boy so special? stay tuned. maybe ill be able to get an interview with Nico once he's found." a reporter said.

     Percy and them made thier way to the police line and were about to cross it when they were stopped.

     "I'm sorry kids, no one is allowed past." 

     "I'm Jason grace." Jason told him, "Nico's my cousin and Nico's brother is in the school. he called us and were just here to pick him up."

     "oh, yes. of course. go ahead."

     the police officer held the line up for them and the three slipped under and didnt even make it halfway before ben opened the door and engulfed them in a hug.

     "Benjamin turner you get- oh. nevermind." the teacher said.

     Percy, Jason, will, and ben all made their way back under the police line and started walking away.

     "ben! ben! ben!" reporters yelled.

     one reporter grabbed ben's arm to ask him questions, "ben, do you know why Nico was kidnapped today? or how about how trouble always follows him?"

     Percy pushed ben behind him and glared at the reporters, "how heartless are you guys? Nico's not just some headliner for you all to gossip about. he's a person."

     "Perseus Jackson, is it true that you were kidnapped when you were twelve?"

     "i dont see why that matters but yes."

     "did they ever catch your kidnapper?"

     Percy rolled his eyes, "i dont have time for this."

    "do you think the people who kidnapped you also kidnapped Nico?"

    that's it. that was Percy's final straw. Percy grabbed the reporters camera and mic and threw it. Percy walked away and was followed by will, ben, and Jason.

     "are you okay?" ben asked as he noticed Percy's seething anger.

     "I'm fine. i just hate reporters."

     when they deemed they got far enough Jason grabbed everyone and flew them back to camp.

change of pov. . . 

3rd person pov. . .(Nico's pov. . .)

     'BANG' was the last thing Nico heard before he felt a searing pain in his abdomen and lost consciousness.

     when Nico awoke he saw that his hands were no longer tied in the air but behind him and to a chair. Nico tried sitting up but rope on his ankles and chest stopped it. Nico felt burning in his abdomen and winced as he used all his strength and forced himself upwards.

     "oh look. the brats awake." J said.

     "good. maybe we can finally get what we want."

     "and what's that?" Nico asked, his voice was horse from no water. 

     "you'll see." L told him.

    "you might want to let me go." Nico spoke.

    "and why is that?" J asked.

    "two words. my family."

    "we'll that's exactly what we wanted to ask you about." J replied, "you see, we've been watching you and your family for quite sometime. you weren't even our intended victim. it was ben, we'd knew you'd be two much trouble but when we saw you outside of the school we knew it be you who we had to take."

     Nico got mad. nobody, NOBODY tries to hurt his brother.

     "now, seeing as we'll have to deal with you. here's how its going to go." J started, "we're going to ask you questions, and you're going to answer them. if you lie or dont answer, you'll get punished. if you continue to lie or not answer then we'll go after you family. understand?"

     Nico didnt answer. he was trying not to pass out.

     L put a gun to Nico's head, "she asked you a question. do you understand?"

     "yeahwhatever." Nico slurred.

     "you were there, on august 18th weren't you? the day the city went quiet."

     "no," Nico lied. he knew they were talking about the second titan war, Nico wouldn't tell them anything.

     L slapped Nico with the back of his gun which did not help Nico's lightheadedness.

     "didnt we just tell you not to lie?"

     "we have proof you were there." J said, "we saw the monsters. we just want to know. what are you?"

     "this isn't good." Nico thought, "they aren't demigods and they're not monsters. but i dont think they're like Rachel or sally. who are they?"

     "CLANG" everyone's head's jerked to the warehouse door where there was a dent in the door. a dent as big as a dragon's head.

    "how didnt that work?!" a voice exclaimed, Nico knew who it was immediately, "Festus, do it again."

     "CLANG." that time the warehouse door flew across the room and only stopped when it hit the other wall. J and L stood up and shot at the metal dragon that stood in the way. all the demigods in camp ran in screaming Greek curses at J and L. will, ben, and the Apollo kids all ran to Nico and dragged him back to Festus. 

     the demigods started drawing back and soon the warehouse only held J and L. Percy was lifted onto Festus with will and Leo. ben wanted to join Nico but there was no room.

     "come on." Jason told ben, "I'll fly you right next to him."

     Festus and Jason took to the sky. on Festus will did his best to treat Nico.

     "Nico. . . what did you do? how did you get yourself shot?"

     Nico was already passed out before he could give an answer. . .

time change. . . (same pov. . .)

     when Nico awoke the first thing he saw was will above him feeding him somthing that tasted like food his mother used to feed him. it was ambrosia. 

     "will. . .?" Nico croaked out.

     "welcome back to the land of the living." will said, "what happened?"

     "where's ben?" Nico asked remembering what J had told him.

     "he's safe. he's with Jason. what happend?"

     Nico tried sitting up but will pushed him down.

     "you got shot Nico. you can't get up yet."

     "you need to get ben. He was thier intended target."

     "what?" will asked, worry evidence in his voice.

     Nico explained what J had told him about ben supposed to being the victim. just after Nico finished Percy rushed into the infirmary holding an unconsciousness Jason.

     "they took him." Percy breathed, "they took ben."

author note: I'm so sorry for this cliff hanger guys. or am i?!?! hehehehehehehehehehhehehehehehehehehehe. no i really am, i know this one is super mean. hopefully part two should be uploaded soon. hope you guys enjoyed this chapter!!!!!
