author note: plot- what if nico finds out about the nico protection squad? other things- I just want to say thank you to you all, thank you for reading and commenting, and voting, it makes me so happy and I appreciate you all! there are spoilers for the mark of Athena in this story so read at your own risk. onto the story!

1st person pov (will's pov)

    today was the fifth nico protection squad meeting, this meeting is talking about how we've failed as a squad so far because let's face it, squad or not squad there hasn't been much difference.

    I made my way into the big house and saw everyone there, I sat down next to Chiron.

    "Alright, everyone! let's get this meeting started." Chiron announced, "let's talk about everything that's happened in the past five weeks."

    "well there was nico getting stabbed by emy on our first meeting, didn't protect him there." leo pointed out.

    "and the incident with the hellhound." percy spoke.

    "and when he got sick," I said.

    "well we couldn't stop that from happening, everyone gets sick." hazel replied.

    "true but what about last week, with minos." Jason said.

    "and nico's and mine date night." I pointed out.

    "Well it seems that the nico protection squad needs some more structure." the Chiron said.

    "what if," leo started, "hear me out! one of us is always around nico!"

    we all thought it over, "it might work."

    "let's try it," Chiron said.

time change...(same pov)

    before we ended the meeting we made up a schedule on when everyone will be watching nico, I had it in the morning right before breakfast at seven and at night from dinner to curfew at ten, Mr d had it after curfew and right before my time, percy had it during sword training, Chiron/everyone had it during meals, Jason had from breakfast until sword training, annabeth and piper had after sword training until lunch, after lunch its leo and hazel until archery, frank and Reyna is from archery until dinner. it looked like this.

    we each got a tiny version of this to keep in our pockets, we then got ready to fully protect my boyfriend!

time change...(same pov)

    it was the next day, I woke up at five-thirty in the morning and got ready for the day, at five-fifty I left my cabin and made my way to nico's, Mr.d was outside of the cabin watching through the window.

    "you look super creepy, please don't tell me you were like this the whole night?" I told him.

    "How else do you expect me to watch him wheel sales!" Mr. d yelled.

    "Whatever," I said rolling my eyes, I then walked into the cabin and shook nico awake.

    "Will?" nico asked, "what are you doing, it's not time for breakfast?"

    "I know, I was thinking we could start hanging out every morning before breakfast," I answered.

    "no." nico said.

    "why not?" I asked offended, he just turned around and now had his back to me.

    "Because I'm tired, and I'm not waking up before breakfast." nico answered.

    "not even for me? your glow-in-the-dark-boyfriend?" I quoted him.

    "not even for you." he replied, "now get out, I'm trying to sleep."

    "fine then." I got up and walked out of the Hades cabin, not going to lie I did feel a little hurt when nico didn't get up, but I also get it, only kids of apollo really get up this early.

    I had to do what Mr.d was doing, to all the campers that were awake I probably looked ridiculous and creepy.

    when it turned seven I went back into the cabin and woke nico up again.

    "What?" nico asked, opening his eyes and looking at me.

    "It's time for breakfast," I told him.

    "fine," he said, he then sat up and rubbed his eyes sleepily.

    "come on!" I grabbed his hands and pulled him to the dining pavilion.

    we arrived at the apollo table and we sat down, we burned our food and then ate, after breakfast, Jason walked over to the table.

    "Hey, guys!" Jason greeted.

    "hi." nico replied, his voice sounding tired.

    "nico, I need to tell you something," Jason told him.

    "What?" nico asked suspiciously.

    "I want you to teach me mytho magic," Jason said.

    nico's eyes lit up in excitement, "let's go!"

    nico then ran to his cabin Jason followed. I headed to the infirmary and started working.

1st person pov (Jason's pov)

    I had no idea what to do before sword training, normally I would go to my cabin and read before it but I now had to keep an eye on nico, and I doubt nico would want to go in my cabin and read, so I asked will what I should do, will suggested to play mytho magic so I did that

    nico ran to his cabin, I followed, we went inside and he took out a deck of mytho magic and sat on the ground, I sat down in front of him, he started explaining the rules while setting up the game. we then began playing.

time change...(same pov)

    we played a lot of mytho magic, like a lot, a lot. we had played thirty rounds when it was time for sword training, and nico had won every round. when the horn blew we knew we had five minutes to get to sword training, we picked up the game and stood up.

    "rematch tomorrow?" I asked.

    "Sure." nico shrugged, "you know, I never thought you, would be someone to play mytho magic."

    we then made our way to the arena, my sword training was later so I just dropped nico off.

    "have fun nico," I told him.

    "Thanks." he replied.

time change...

1st person pov (Percy's pov)

    I think frank/Reyna or I had the best job watching nico, we have it when we were teaching so we don't have to figure out what to do to keep watch on nico, although frank and Reyna had to watch nico after their class as well.

    I was in the arena waiting for my class to show up, when nico entered. I walked up to him.

    "hey, nico, ready for class?" I asked.

    nico shrugged, "eh, not really. it's not that hard, I'm learning what I already know."

    "alrighty then," I said, I then walked back to where I was at.

    the rest of the class came in and I taught.

time change...(same pov)

    at the end of the class annabeth and piper came into the arena they walked over towards nico and then the three of them all left, time for my next class.

time change...

1st person pov (Annabeth's pov)

    it was almost piper's and mine's turn to watch nico, we had a pretty good idea of what to do, nico and will have a date night tonight so we thought we could help nico, when we told nico our plan to help him set up the date he agreed to it, nico likes doing simply dates, while will likes to go all out, so helping nico should take to long, I just hope we don't have to figure out something else. nico told us that he want to do another picnic on top of half blood hill because the last one went so well, 'what is nico's obsession with picnics?' i thought to myself.

    "a picnic?" piper asked, "didn't you do that last time?"

    "yes, but picnics are relaxing, and whenever we have picnics, most of the time we don't get attacked." nico answered.

    "whatever you want." piper replied.

    nico took us to his cabin and handed us a bunch of things, he grabbed a box and started walking to half-blood hill, and we followed behind. we got to the hill and set the boxes down.

    "there's only one more box in my cabin, ill be back." nico said, he started walking away but piper and I spoke.

    "we'll go with you!" I said.

    nico looked at us weirdly, "um, I'm good. don't need your help."

    "you sure? because we'd love to help." piper said walking up to nico.

     nico held his hand out to make piper stand back, "I'm sure, ill be right back."

     nico then walked down the hill, we decided that since we could still see him and his cabin that it would be fine to stay up on the hill and watch him.

     seconds later nico walked out of his cabin and walked back up the hill.

     he told us how to set it up and we did it, setting up took a lot longer than I thought it would be, but by the time we were done it was time for lunch. the three of us walked to the dinner pavilion and went to our cabin tables.

1st person pov (hazel's pov)

     after lunch its mine and Leo's turn to watch nico, I feel bad for being a babysitter to my older brother but he gets in danger so much that he needs a babysitter, I just hope he never finds out, because if he finds out he will be mad, no not mad, furious.

     leo and I walked over to the apollo cabin table, where nico was sitting.

     "hey nico!" leo said.

     "what do you want, Valdez?" nico asked.

     "glad you asked, hazel and I came up with something that we want to show you." leo answered.

    'what is he talking about, we didn't come up with anything?' i thought to myself

     "okay? show me." nico replied.

     "Not here, in bunker nine, duh." leo said.

     "I thought bunker nine was destroyed at the whole "lebot" accident?" nico asked.

     "I fixed it, duh." leo answered.

     "fine." nico sighed rolling his eyes, he then stood up and started following leo and me.

     "what are you doing?" I whispered to leo.

     "just go along with it." leo whispered back.

     we got to the bunker and walked in, there was a tiny robot on the table, oh no.

     "What did you guys do?" nico asked.

     "We made a tinier, less powerful version of lebot!" leo exclaimed, "I call it, 'mini lebot'!"

     then the mini lebot came to life and went to nico and started hitting nico's leg.

     nico picked up the robot and handed it back to leo, "keep working on it." nico said he then walked out of bunker nine.

     I looked and leo and he shrugged, I then followed nico out. I ran up to him.

     "why is everyone acting so weird?" he asked.

     "what do you mean?" I said.

     "I mean that will came into my cabin at six in the morning trying to wake me up when he knows that I don't get up early. then after breakfast Jason asked me to teach him mytho magic, Jason?" nico said that like he was shocked, and honestly, I'm not surprised, I could not see Jason learning mytho magic, "then Jason walked me to sword training, I kept catching percy staring at me during sword training by the way, and then annabeth and piper wanted to help me set up my date tonight with will, and now you and leo are acting weird, what is going on?"

     oh no, he's getting suspicious, not good! not good!

     "I'm sure it's nothing," I replied nervously.

     nico just hummed in response and continued walking away from bunker nine, he made his way towards archery since that was the next place he needed to go. I saw nico walk near the bow and arrows, frank then walked up to him, and my time was up, no longer watching nico.

time change...

1st person pov (franks pov)

     it was almost time for archery, I'm kinda nervous, although I am closer to nico than before he still freaks me out sometimes and I'm not very good a keeping secrets, I'm honestly surprised I've been able to keep the nico protection squad secret for as long as I have been.

     when nico entered the archery field I walked over toward him.

     "he-hey, nico." I greeted.

     "hey frank," nico replied, "are you going to act all weird around me as well?"

     "what do you mean?" I asked confused.

     nico sighed and told me about his day, wow, apparently I'm not the only one not able to act normal with secrets.

     "weird," I said.

     then the rest of the class came in and Reyna and I started teaching.

time change...(same pov)

     it was the end of the class, and both Reyna and I still had four more hours left, normal it would be five but will is taking an hour of our time on Saturdays for dates with nico. nico grabbed his stuff and started leaving the archery field.

     Reyna and I ran up to him, "where are you going nico?" Reyna asked.

     "to my cabin? I have to get ready for my date, why?" nico asked staring at us confused.

     "no reason," Reyna replied.

     "Okay..." nico said, he then turned around and started walking to his cabin, reyna grabbed his wrist and he turned around, "what?"

     "We need to talk," Reyna spoke.

     "Okay?" nico responded, he was obvisally confused, "about what?"

     "about, your sword work," Reyna said, it was obvious she came up with that on the spot.

     "what about it?" nico asked.

     "just that, it could use some work." Reyna said.

     nico look hurt at what Reyna said, nico looked down at his feet, "um, okay, thanks, ill go work on it."

     nico walked away, shoulder's slumped, and Reyna let out a breath that she was apparently holding in. I was just staring in shock, how could Reyna say that, nico's one of the best swordsmen here.

     "I didn't realize how hard it was to lie to him, you look at him and you just want to tell him everything." Reyna said, "did I go too far telling him about his sword work?"

     "I think so." I said.

     "I didn't mean it, I just didn't know what to say!" Reyna replied.

     "I'm sure he'll get over it," I said.

time change...

1st person pov (nico's pov)

     what is wrong with everyone! first will's acting weird, then Jason, percy, followed by annabeth and piper, then hazel and leo, and now Reyna and frank, I mean why was Reyna telling me to work on my sword work, I thought I was good, I guess I'm just a disappointment to Reyna as well.

     I walked into my cabin and sat down on my bed, ben was in the cabin reading a comic book, he could see that I was stressed/upset. because he set down his comic book and looked at me.

     "what's wrong?" ben asked.

     "everything! everyone is acting so weird!" I exclaimed, "I feel like a disappointment to everyone."

     ben walked over towards me and put his hand on my shoulder, "hey, you're not a disappointment, now tell me, what is everyone doing that's so weird?"

     I told him everything, beside's what Reyna said.

     "is that everything?" he asked.

     "no," I answered.

     "what else?"

     "Reyna said I need to work on my sword work." I said, "I thought I was good! but I guess swords are just another thing I'm terrible at!" I put my hands on my head.

     ben hugged me, "you're great at swordwork, I don't know what's going on with Reyna but ill find out."

     "Don't bother, it doesn't matter anyway," I told him.

     ben crossed his arms, "yes it does, she hurt you and that's not okay."

     ben then walked out of the cabin.

time change...

1st person pov (ben's pov)

     I walked out of my cabin and looked for Reyna, I saw her talking with frank, and I ran up to the pair.

     "hey!" I yelled.

     they both looked at me.

     "yeah, ben?" Reyna asked.

     "Don't 'yeah ben?' me, missy." I snapped, "nico's upset because of you, what is wrong with you?"

     "I didn't mean to hurt his feelings," Reyna said.

     "Sure." I sassed, "you know, nico has gone through so much and you judging him for his sword work, which is awesome by the way, is rude, and obviously, you aren't nico's true friend."

     "no, I wasn't-" Reyna started.

     "save it, missy, I don't want to hear it. stay away from nico, go back to that camp of yours and never return." I bossed.

     Reyna ran off and frank chased after her, I saw something fall out of Reyna's pocket, it was a piece of paper, I picked it up and unfolded it, it was a schedule of when to watch nico. 

    what is this? I refolded the paper and made my way back towards the hades cabin, I need to show nico this.

time change...(same pov)

     I ran to the hades cabin and busted through the door, will was in there with nico, they were talking.

     "ben!" will yelled, "hey."

     "nico!" I screamed, "look what I found!"

     nico stood up and I handed him the piece of paper I found, nico read it and turn towards will, nico handed will the piece of paper.

     "care to explain?" nico asked.

     "um." will said, "I think it would be better if everyone explained."

     "fine then, let's go." nico said.

     will took out his monster-proof phone and texted.

1st person pov (wills pov)

     oh gods of Olympus no! nico found the paper, I took out my phone and texted the group chat we made.

     nico and I headed to the big house, and when we walked in everyone in the nico protection squad.

     "have a seat nico." chiro said.

     "id rather stand." nico replied.

time change...(same pov)

     we explained everything and nico just stay quiet nodding his head, when we finished Chiron looked over at nico.

     "nico?" chiro asked.

     "What?" nico asked.

     "how do you feel?" Chiron said.

     "I feel," nico started, "angry, because obviously you guy's don't think I'm strong enough to protect myself when I have been to Tartarus and back!"

     "nico, we're not saying you can't protect yourself," I said.

     "oh really? because that's what it sounds like!" nico yelled, he looked furious.

     "we're just worried." percy said.

     nico shooked his head, "no percy, your not. because if you were, you would've said to save me when I was trapped in the jar."

     the seven demigods from the prophecy looked shocked,

     "yeah, don't think I didn't hear that, I was in a dream state pretty much the whole time, I heard everything, I heard you all deciding to vote on whether to save me or not! I was thirteen! thirteen! and you guys were wondering if my life was worth saving!" nico yelled.

     "nico-" percy started.

     "Don't talk to me." nico said, he then grabbed my wrist and shadow traveled us away.
