"Y/N!" Nico pauses me. I turn to look at him as he makes his way quickly to me. He stops next to me and takes a deep breath.

"So, uh, I wanted to wish you happy birthday." he says.

I grin widely, "Thanks, Nico!"

I feel my cheeks get a little red as I say, "It means a lot." It really does mean a lot, considering he's been my crush for the longest time, enough to replace "like" with "love."

He nods, "I got you something." From his back pocket, he pulls out a necklace.

"I didn't get a box for it," he apologizes. "But I hope you still like it. Sorry, Y/N."

He holds up the necklace for me. It's covered with f/c beads, hearts and squares and triangles and circles and rectangles. It's on a single, silver string that gleamed with the beads. I noticed the beads were see-through. Glorious.

"Nico, I love it!! Thank you!!" I smile, and give him a hug without thinking. I blush and let go.

"Sorry." I say, and take the necklace.

"Don't be. Happy birthday, Y/N." he smiles.

I nod, "Thanks again."

"Annie! Annie!" I run into the Athena cabin, jumping onto the bed which my best friend lay atop of, reading a book.

"Yes?" she asks, shutting her book with her thumb inside keeping the page.

"Look what Nico got me!" I hold up the necklace with one hand. She sits up and analyzes it, fingering the beads with her left index and middle.

"It's beautiful." she agrees. We high-five.

"I hope I see him tonight in my cabin, at the tiny party." I laugh at the word "tiny." Annabeth nods, knowing my major crush on the Son of Hades.

"You probably will. I think he likes you." she winks. I nod, and lay down next to her, closing my eyes.

"Let's hope."

"Hey, Y/N." Nico enters the cabin, the first to arrive, even out of my sibling(s).

"Hi, Nico." Am I blushing? No, stop blushing!

"I, um, I guess I'm the first to arrive." he says.

I nod, "Yeah."

We stare at each other awkwardly.

"Look," he breaks the silence. "I'm going to be right out with you. I like you, Y/N."

I feel like everything just exploded. Speechless, I coughed.

"Y-you do?" I question. No way, not possible.

He nods and looks at his feet. Is he blushing? "Yeah."

Before I could think, I decided to make this as much like a cliche romance movie as possible, and run into his arms in a hug, burying my face next to his shoulder. He wraps his arms around me, and places his head on my shoulder. I feel him beginning to smile.

"Happy birthday, Y/N." he says again. I move my hand up and play with the necklace he gave me.

"Thanks, Nico."
