Part Fourteen
I fixed up the remaining parts of the car and sent her on her way.
"Thank you dear!"
"Y'all have a good day now!" I shouted back at the white haired lady and away she was.
I saw Nick coming down from my apartment and I smiled at him. "Hey beautiful." Nick smirked.
"Go get a room." Keith sniggered.
"Fly away asshat." Nick replied.
"Stop bitch fighting the pair of you." I laughed then walked off to the fridge in the corner, grabbing three beers.
I made my way back to Nick and Keith who were barely looking at each other.
"Welp, next customer is Francis."
Nick gasped and then tried to hide the fact he gasped. I smirked.
"Francis?"
I nodded.
"The guys an ass." Nick said, fixing his black suit and burgundy tie.
"How do you know?" Keith raised an eyebrow, me shaking and making a no gesture to Nick.
"An old buddy, keith. Nothing more." Nick smiled and went back up to my apartment. Hell knows what he was doing.
Keith nudged me and shrugged his shoulders, walking off. I was sick of Keith's bullshit attitude. At the end of the day, he was working for me. Not the other way around.
Francis was due to come in another few minutes, and I thought he would have been there by now. I sighed and called Nick.
My phone rang and I heard my apartment open up the stairs.
"Babe?" He questioned with raised eyebrows.
"Come here." I motioned as I asked.
Nick came skipping down the stairs and came over to me, wrapping his arms around my waist and laying his head on my shoulders.
"Can you just let keith not annoy me?" Nick frowned, obviously getting just as pissed off as I was at Keith's attitude and the way he was an ass about Nick and with him.
"Don't let him Nick. We have each other, and maybe some day I can try to work for myself. You're alright, we're alright. I love you."
"I love you too-what?"
Francis had arrived and must've stood there for quite a few seconds before we realised. He wore a leather jacket and genuinley looked like an asshole.
He bust out laughing.
"I didn't know Nicky boy was gay."
--
"Piss off Francis. I'm not gay."
I looked at Nick and those words, weirdly, hit my heart.
I needed to know what the hell that was about. Why Francis was such a dick. Why the hell he was talking to Nick like he knew him the way I did.
"I'm here to get my car fixed. Don't get your knickers in a twist."
Nick walked off with his fist balled.
"What service do you need, Francis?" I asked politely.
"New wheels. All four. Thanks." He chucked the car keys to me, helped himself to the beer fridge and walked off to the office to wait.
"NICK!"
He came around the corner, looking a little agitated. Just a little...
"Yes?"
"What was that about?"
"Nothing."
I rolled my eyes and waved him off, trying not to be bothered by what was happening.
"Whatever Nick, I need to get this done. I'll talk to you after."
I saw him standing there as his fists were no longer together, a frown on his face looking like a lost puppy. My face fell.
"Listen, Ellis, I'm sorry. I just, these years have been hard. Francis was a huge dick in my life, he hunted me and we always had these con wars,"
I nodded as he was speaking and I unscrewed the caps on the wheels. "He was nothing but a coward who stole my money and abused me."
I dropped the tool down and went over to him, pulling him into me. His warmth made me smile but it still hurt a little. I wanted to make sure he was alright.
"I'm here, stay beside me and we'll get this job done, then I'll leave keith to close."
He nodded and held my jaw, pulling me in for a tight kiss. His lips felt like silk on mine, his tongue danced with mine. He was mine and I loved it.
Once I had sent Francis away and charged him a little extra for being a dick, I asked keith to close for me.
"No problem, Ellis." He smiled and I said thanks as I tipped my baseball cap.
I took off to my apartment to see Nick, lying snoring as usual. The thought of moving away with Nick, starting new and opening my own shop sounded awesome! His little snores made me fall deeper in love with him. It almost felt like my heart had sank.
I smiled and went and turned the stove on to cook food. A long day of work and assholes, I think I needed some food and beer. I looked in the fridge to see absolutely no beer.
"Shit man."
I turned the stove off and headed off to go to the store. I needed beer and no doubt Nick would want some too.
I arrived in my bashed old truck, I don't even know how it was still running. Across the lot, another truck sat. My eyes stared at how new and beautiful it looked.
I made my way into the store and headed for the drinks section, also making my way to food and snacks. I wanted to have a movie night with Nick, if he was up to it.
The till line was empty and as I walked up a young girl, around the same age as me maybe, had medium length hair, brown, with the most beautiful eyes.
I looked at her name tag, Zoey. She was something. I paid for my things, and I didn't think she was romantically attracted, just a nice young girl with good old manners.
"Ya'll have a great night now!" I said collecting the bags.
As I was walking out of the store, I got a call from Nick.
"Good sleep?"
"Please be home soon, I miss you Ellis."
My eyes scrunched together from the awe. God I was in love with that man.
"I'm coming home now. See you soon."
"Get home safe, I need you Ellis." He said in a low, tired and husky voice.
I couldn't get Francis out of my head. I wanted to know more about these 'Con wars.'
Nick had it tough. He never had it easy. He was a troublemaker at school, his parents didn't care for him, he had a lot of trust issues and got involved with police a lot.
I loved him and I'd make sure I was there for him no matter what because I didn't want him feeling abandoned.
