CHAPTER 14

June's POV

''June, hurry up!'' Tina shouted as I ran across the big yard to check everything.

''It's all okay!'' I said loudly so the Queen Bee standing on stage could hear.

Early this morning, Ellen suddenly told me Tina wanted me to help everyone at preparing her party. I didn't know why, from out of nowhere, I had the responsiblity to do that. Two years of working here, I had never done that job before.

But after all, I was still here, cleaning the stage and back stage, the music room and the custom room. I heard there would be some performances at Tina's party. No wonder why she wanted everything to be perfect.

Once again, Tina checked her cellphone and kept walking on her high heels. I wondered what made her so nervous like that. ''Who is she waiting for?'' I thought to myself and slightly laughed. ''Who on earth can make Queen Bee wait this time?''

''June, come here!'' Tina called and I put the mop down, walked to her.

Tina was wearing a beautiful, expensive skinny jeans and blue tank top. I couldn't stop myself from secretly comparing me with her. She was perfect and I was..., well, imperfect in many ways.

''You know, June...'' Tina gave me a threatening look and I instantly took a step back. ''I had seen what happened last night. Let's me tell you something. It's me who he likes. You will see. In a few minutes more, Niall will be here to practice to sing with me on my birthday. FOR ME! So you should know yourself a little and back off. You don't deserve with him. You're just...''

''A maid.'' I finshed her sentence and smiled. ''And there is nothing between us.''

''Remeber what I said, June!'' She said before waiting at somebody behind me, put away her scary face and smiled glamorously.

''Good morning, Niall.''

I quickly ran before Niall could see me. Standing far away behind a huge board, I saw Niall walking to Tina and they were laughing at something. Suddenly, Niall looked up, his eyes searching around, then back to the conversation with Tina, rather disappointed. He almost saw me but luckily, I had quickly hid. I wondered what he had been looking for.

Niall's POV

April told me June was here but why I didn't see her? No sight of her blue dress or her black hair, or her beautiful smile. A storm of disappointment and scared feeling raised in my heart. I tried to calm myself down and find the light of hope again. So, this was my plan: I meet her, tell her that she had misunderstood everything and specially, how I feel about her. Perfect plan, right?

''Niall! Niall! Are you listening to me?'' Tina waved her hand in front of me.

''Oh, sorry. A little distraction.'' I shook my head, forced myself focus on what Tina was saying.

''So, you're going to play guiatr while singing. And we're gonna sing ''All about Us''. Is that okay?''

I nodded my head. Since this was for her birthday, I couldn't be so rude and destroy her day. But all I wanted to do now was running away to find My Guitar Girl.

''Good!'' Tina smiled to me. She handed me the guitar and the music sheet before looking deep into my eyes.

''Niall, thank you for doing this for me. This will be the best birthday ever!''

''It's your big day, remember? Everything is about you!'' I smiled to her.

We rehearsed a few times and Tina caught up with my guitar fast. Her voice was good and strong.

''Good! I think your voice is so great.'' I put the guitar down.

''So this is our first practice. Can we do it one more time before the party?''

''Tomorrow, is that okay?'' I asked.

''Perfect!'' She replied.

I stood up and about to leave, but Tina called my name again.

''Niall, any chance I can ask you to have lunch with me? I'm going to make pasta.''

She looked at me with a hopeful look. I was confused and didn't know what to do. After a few seconds passed, her smile faded as she said in a sad tone.

''It's okay if you're busy. I'm just gonna...''

''I'd love to!'' I heard my voice said without any intention. Oh, Niall James Horan, what'd you done?
