Personal Backstory: Alicia's mom played hockey as a teenager and is still very much an avid fan of it, so she put Alicia in skating lessons at very young age. She believed that it would be empowering for her daughter to learn how to play hockey. Alicia originally played right wing, but when she was around 10 years old she decided she wanted to try playing goalie. To her coaches and her mother's surprise, she picked up goaltending extremely quickly and showed much promise in her abilities. When she turned 15, Alicia was accepted onto the Mississauga Steelheads, her local OHL team. Alicia was pretty popular and successful during her minor league years, during which she had won the OHL Goaltender of the Year Award twice. In 2013, she was drafted onto the Calgary Flames. For her first 3 seasons in the NHL she played backup goalie but was very well liked by the fans and showed lots of talent on the ice, which ultimately led to a huge hype in Calgary when she was named starting goalie for the 2016-2017 season. She has been playing starting goalie for the Flames ever since, and has shown remarkable progress. She won the William M. Jennings Trophy in 2019 and the Vezina Trophy in 2020, and has been playing in every NHL All-Star game since 2017. She won the gold medal with Team Canada as their backup goalie at the 2014 Olympics and won the silver medal with them as well as their starting goalie at the 2018 Olympics.

Her Relationship History: Alicia's first major relationship was with Matthew Tkachuk, from 2017-2019. At first the two of them were very happy together and rumours spread in mid-June of 2019 that Matthew was planning on proposing to Alicia after fans reportedly saw him walking into an engagement ring store. To fans' shock and chagrin, Alicia and Matthew announced a few weeks later that they had split up. They didn't speak much of their breakup to the press, but Alicia has said once in an interview, "I realized this relationship wasn't what I wanted and it wasn't meant to be". Alicia and Matthew have not been particularly cold to each other since, but the media has noticed that they are often unsure and hesitant when hugging or celebrating with each other after a win. Alicia was reportedly single for the next year or so, although a rumour surfaced that she and Matthew were still friends with benefits, despite not being a real couple anymore (Alicia debunked this). On Valentine's Day 2020 she announced she was now dating Flames forward Elias Lindholm, who she had been seen with a couple times but the media didn't think much of it at that time. The day after she made their relationship public, she posted a heartfelt story on her Instagram about how Elias was "her very best friend", had always made an effort to care for her since he joined the Flames in 2018, and helped her get back on her feet after her split from Tkachuk. In interviews she has described him as "my rock and my one and only" and has gushed over his kind heart and loving treatment of her. Today they are known for their romantic Instagram posts of one another and are slowly starting to become Calgary's biggest power couple.

Fun Fact: While Alicia does take her career very seriously and usually wouldn't do anything that could jeopardize her reputation, she has gotten in one goalie fight in her career, at a Battle of Alberta game.
