1.Happy Memories in My Childhood
In my childhood, I used to live in a nice house with my family. It’s located in the countryside in NB province. My house has three bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen and a dining room next to the kitchen. My mother was a good cook, so my family could enjoy good meals together every day. There is a yard and a small pond with a lot of fish in front of the house. I used to go fishing in the pond in the afternoons so that my mother had food to cook dinner. There is a large garden behind my house where lilies are planted. I like the pure white color of these flowers. Although I am now living far from home, I always remember those happy memories and look forward to meeting with my family on Tet holiday.
2. Which do you prefer, city life or country life?
The city is an exciting place to live and study. Although I used to live in the country in my childhood, I prefer city life. Living in the city means that you have many stores, people, jobs, and shorter distances to get from one place to another. As a result, it’s more convenient for me to buy things, get a good job and travel around. Besides, city life gives you opportunities to keep up with the pace of the modern day while you don’t have these in the country. However, in the countryside you have nature in abundance, larger distances between neighbors, and more yard space for kids. Houses are also cheaper. I think that living in either the city or the country depends on where you feel happy.
3. The advantages of living in the suburb instead of living in the inner city
There are several advantages of living in the suburb instead of living in the inner city. In the suburb, it is easier for you to have a big house with a yard for kids and a small garden with vegetables and trees around. The trees around your house create a good living environment closer to nature. You can also stay away from the noise and traffic, so it’s better for your health and your spirit. In addition, you have a private environment when living in the suburb. In contrast, life in the inner city is not private at all because people live right next to each other, due to lack of place. Besides, the cost of living in the suburb is cheaper. Therefore, you should care about these benefits when choosing where to live.
4. September 2nd - Memorable National Days with my family
On our National Day, September 2nd, my family usually plans many special things to do. On this public holiday, most of the museums give away Free Entry to everyone, so in the morning my family often visits one of the museums in Ho Chi Minh city, for example, War Remnants Museum, Vietnamese History Museum. Through this activity, we can enjoy half a day of fun and education at a museum. Around 11 a.m. we leave for a buffet restaurant to have lunch. Here we can eat a lot of delicious dishes as much as possible. My parents then take us to an amusement park such as Dam Sen Water Park, Suoi Tien Park in the afternoon. We can take part in a lot of interesting games here. After having dinner at the park, we go home and gather around TV to watch noticeable news on National Day.
5. My close friend
My close friend is Huong, who is really faithful. I remember when I was misunderstood, a lot of my friends kept away from me, but she still stood side by side with me. She helped me explain the fact to my friends and finally they understood me. Another time, when I was expelled from school because of being accused unjustly, she still believed me and looked for ways to help me out. Finally, she found an evidence to justify me and then I was absolved from the guilt and I could continue to go to school. In fact, she never leaves me even in the most difficult situation. I'm very lucky to have a close friend like her.
6.Ho Chi Minh City
Ho Chi Minh City, where I am living, is the city I like most in my country. Firstly, it is one of the most modern cities in Vietnam, which has a lot of colleges, universities and big companies. Consequently, it offers me many opportunities for my advancement in study and work. Secondly, the weather here is mild. It’s not so cold in winter or so hot in summer as in the North. Finally, there are many museums, libraries, amusement parks and other beautiful places in the city. As a result, I have many interesting things to do and nice places to go when I have free time. I can also meet a lot of great people here. Therefore, I like living here.
7.The ways I study English at home
To improve my English fast, besides going to class, I have to study English regularly everyday at home. To learn new vocabulary, I often use small, portable cards. I write five new words with examples on a card, put it in my pocket and carry it wherever I go. When I wait for a bus or someone, I take it out and read. During the day, I can make the best of my time by doing so. In addition, I often read English newspapers to expand my vocabulary and improve my reading skill. To improve my listening skill, I often listen to VOA and BBC and watch English-speaking movies. I also practice speaking English with my roommates everyday and foreigners I sometimes meet. After all, we need to create an English environment around us just as the ways we learn our mother tongue.
8. A visit to a friend of mine
The visit to my classmate named Nhung in Long An province last summer vacation is memorable. She invited me and other two classmates to her house for two days. During our stay at her house, we were really impressed by the hospitality of her family. Her parents were very happy and took a good care of us. They prepared our breakfast, lunch, dinner and even supper. I still remember the delicious taste of chicken soup they cooked for our supper. Besides, Nhung was very considerate. She planned several interesting activities for us. In the morning, we took her family’s boat to go fishing along a river near her house. It was very interesting because we caught enough fish for lunch. In the afternoon, we went around her house to pick coconuts and then enjoyed coconut milk. After all, the trip to her countryside last summer was quite relaxing and exciting.
9. The happiest experience in my life
There is not only one happy moment in my life that I can share, but a lot of them that I am not even able to describe with my words. If I talk about the happiest moment in my life, it’s when I read the book “I am gifted so are you” by Adam Khoo. In that book, I found the truth that we can become whatever we want if we know how to develop our brain and work hard enough. Before reading that book, I thought that some people are rich and talented because they were born with those things. The book has changed my mind. I felt so happy when I found the truth.
10. Tet holiday with my family
Tet holiday is a special occasion for me to be reunited with my family and enjoy happy holidays. Two days before the Lunar New Year, I usually help my parents make and cook Banh Chung (rice cake). I really like sitting by the cooking fire in the cold weather of winter to cook Banh Chung. On New Year’s Eve, my family always has a small party to wait for the New Year coming while watching the latest news about New Year’s Eve events around the country and the world on TV. On New Year’s Day, we give one another best wishes, and then we go to our grandparents to wish them a Happy New Year. The following days, we visit our uncles, aunts and cousins. I feel very happy because I can be reunited with my family and relatives and there are parties everywhere we go. Now I am looking forward to the coming Tet holiday to enjoy happy time with my family and relatives.
GOOD LUCK TO YOU!
