Chapter 8 - Chadlandia!

VICTORIA GROANS AT THE SOUND OF HER ALARM CLOCK.

She tries hitting it, but it wouldn't budge. She gets angry and yanks it from where it stood, throwing it across the room.

THUD! “Son of a —” Victoria hears Jason scream, causing her to sit up quickly. He was holding his head in pain. He had a glowering expression in his face, pressing his lips in a thin line.

Victoria gasps, her hands covering her mouth. “Oh my goodness!”

“What was that for?” He whined.

She got up from her bed. “I'm so sorry— wait, what are you doing in my room?” Victoria could not imagine she called the room hers.

“Rita said I should wake you up,” He replies. “I have been knocking for five minutes.” having stopped rubbing his head.

Victoria walks up to him. “Well, you've told me, now leave.” She turns him around and pushed him out the door. She takes a very deep breath, walking towards the bathroom. No-one is ruining my day. She thought.

She has a quick shower and began scrambling through her closet for something to wear. She finally settles for black jeans slit at the knee-side, a scarlet-colored T-shirt, black sneakers and a purse.

Closing the door of my room, her belly roars very loudly and hungrily. She felt it very empty after waking up in the middle of the night several times, to give back all the mundane she had consumed. She was really hungry—she had to eat now!

She makes her way to the kitchen to see Jason sitting on one of the kitchen counter chairs, seated like he was getting ready for a photo shoot— Douche-bag monthly. He was looking at the pot probably cooking something. Rita must have gone to work (She was one of the Aeon dome chefs). As soon as they make eye contact, she averts his eyes and makes her way to the refrigerator trying to avoid any pointless talk he might probably bring up. She grabs a container and dishes breakfast for herself, occasionally giving Jason resentful looks as she ate.  She did the dishes as Jason prepared his breakfast. As she made her way out the door, she could feel Jason's states burn through her skin.

“Wait,” he says. Maybe he's going to apologize.

She turns to see him holding Rita's debit card. “Rita said I should give you this.” She walks up to him and collects it. She waits behind hoping he would say apologize.

Cough!

“Am I supposed to do something?” Jason queries, not even looking up from his food, making Victoria even more annoyed.

“Yes,” She responds. “You forgot to apologize for yesterday.”

Jason looks up from his food. His state turns into a smile until he was cachinnating, holding onto the counter. Victoria stares at him, an angry frown creasing her forehead.

Jason notices her frown and stops laughing. “Oh, you're serious,”

Victoria narrows her eyes at him, tilting her head slightly. “Why do you still exist?”

“Because, as you have noticed, I'm hot.” He drawls. “And I can't apologize when I didn't do anything. You should be apologizing to me for almost knocking my brains out.”

Victoria was tired of this.“You have a wonderful sense of humor,” She confesses.

“I do, don't I?” Jason agrees, smiling foolishly.

“And as they say, with great ugliness comes a great sense of humor,” Victoria utters before nipping out the door.

She stops on the driveway, pulling out the new phone Rita got her as a welcome gift, and this time it had a battery. The sunrise had turned the sky to red gold, and the warm steamy air smelled ambrosial. She plugs her earbuds to her phone, going through songs that she had downloaded in the night when she couldn't sleep. She had really gotten close to Rita but not Jason who she still didn't mind pushing off a building.

Victoria wasn't mad at Jason for bringing her here—well she was, but it wasn't totally. She actually had decided to give Blood City a chance, since it was most likely she wasn't leaving any time soon or ever. She was mad at him because of the crappy ‘I don't care about anyone but myself’ attitude he gave her; treating her like a nobody.

Coming out of my thoughts, she plugs the earbuds into her ear, while ‘Particula’ blasted millions of decibels into her ears as she started ambling down the street.

While on her way back with Liz yesterday, Victoria had made an imprint of the way back to her new home—huh? It even felt very weird to Victoria thinking of Blood City as her new home, but she guessed she had to get used to it. She remembered every turn and even used some houses to remember the way.

“Speaking of yesterday,” She mutters to herself. She suddenly remembers Diego, the handsome stranger that saved my her yesterday. How she wishes she could go back in time or not looked at the time. I should have at least told him my name and maybe he would have walked me home, then ask for my number and leave with that amazing smile of his. She thought.

Oh, Victoria was a sucker for romance.

She is brought out of her daze when a familiar car stops in front of her—It was Liz's car. Victoria wasn't surprised, because she had told Liz of her plans the night before.

The passenger window winds down. “Get in, we have a lot of shopping to do,” Liz says through the window and Victoria quickly gets into the à la mode car.

Victoria and Liz had really bonded yesterday. Victoria had gotten to know a little about the other female; like how she was the first daughter of the multi-billionaire fashion mogul Siller's. She had thought Liz just worked for them, but she was a freaking billionaire. Though she was practically swimming in cash, she was still modest—quite different from most rich girls.

They arrive at the mall about thirty minutes later. Though it was still early, the carpark was already filled up, that they had to park a little farther from the mall.

Liz turns off the engine. “So what do you wanna get first?” Liz asks.

“Ummm...maybe a backpack and some books. Then we can go buy that dress for the party you were yapping about” Victoria answers.

“You sure you don't still want to come? You could make some friends before you even get to school.” Liz offers but Victoria shakes her head.

“I'm good with one friend,” Victoria says and Liz grins widely as they both get down from the car, walking towards the large building.

They were both luckily going to the same high school which was South Hill High. The chance of both of them being together in the same was a total one since there were only two schools in the city; one on each side— South Hill and North Lake. Victoria was feeling a little nervous because back at her old school, she was a total loser even though her father was the leader of the clan. Everyone except the mundanes who went to the school, considered Victoria useless all because she hadn't discovered her vampire abilities yet. She had only Rio who could control emotions, so he always made sure no one ever got to me.

She was fifteen which meant she was a late bloomer. Most vampires usually discover theirs when they were about fourteen. She could run a little fast but not like the others, but she was strong compared to others, so she could still beat up some people but she chooses not to because she had to keep her father's name and dignity.

She-Vampires were supposed to be flawless, at least that's what Hayden Williams always said. She was on the track team, the daughter of the second–in–command and hottest girl in school, but most importantly she was the queen bee. Every school had their very own queen bitch, but hers had a chestnut-haired mega-sized demon queen.

Thinking about school made Victoria remember her clan. How they treated her like she was different, however, on the bright side, this was an opportunity to start fresh. An opportunity to be who she wanted to be, without anyone knowing where she came from.

The two girls had already bought all of Victoria's things and were now entering a boutique to buy Liz's dress. Victoria thought it was ironic, the daughter of a fashion Napoleon going to another fashion store, but Liz preferred wearing things that weren't made by her parents. It made her feel like everyone else—normal...well as normal as the supernatural world was.

They were both looking around when a guy comes up to them and Victoria could swear she saw Liz's eyes twinkle. He was dark-skinned, long, curly brown hair and brown eyes. He was a little muscular and cute— everything a girl could ask for in a guy, and by a girl, Victoria meant Liz.

“Welcome to Fashion Street, I'm Chad,” He says in a fruity voice, smiling.

Hello Chad,”  Liz utters in a cute, flirty voice and Victoria rolls her eyes.

“Hey Chad,” Victoria says casually.

“So what can I do for you pretty la—” A phone rings. It turns out to be Chad's. “Excuse me.” He mutters and walks away.

“He called us pretty!” Liz squeals.

“I heard—” Victoria began before she is dragged away by Liz in Chad's direction.

Chad turns back to them grinning at Liz. Victoria stares at him blankly, but Liz looked at him like he was the world's juiciest chocolate cake, occasionally smoothing her auburn hair.

“I'm so sorry, I had to attend to something.” He apologizes. “So, what can I do you for?” He questions Liz who makes no reply. She stated at him senselessly, still in ‘Chad Landis’, so Victoria digs her nails into little Miss. Head over heels' skin.

Cheese and rice!” Liz screams snapping back to reality, causing Chad to stare at her awkwardly.

“Chad wants to know what kind of dress you want,” Victoria says through a sinister smile.

“Oh! something party-ish,” She responds, giving him a seductive smile while Victoria winced in pain as Liz was driving her heels through her sneakers. Karma's a female dog!

In light of the smiles Chad had been giving Liz, it was clear that Liz's flirtation was working.

“If you would follow me,” Chad says and Liz skips behind him, leaving Victoria behind. Boys. She thinks to herself before following them.

Liz was finally done selecting her dress while Victoria waited for her going through some of the dresses Liz had rejected until she notices one that really caught her eye. It was a short, red off-shoulder skater dress with floral patterns.

Liz notices Victoria's newly found attraction to the dress. “Do you like it?”

“Yeah,” Victoria admits.

“Then you should try it on,” Liz requests.

“You think so?” Victoria asks.

“Yes,” Liz responds Victoria got up to enter the dressing.

Victoria was smiling. “You look beautiful Victoria,” Liz says after the other girl had come out of the dressing room.

“I like it too,” Chad admits.

“Then you're getting it!” Liz declares.

“What?”

"You heard me"Liz repeats.

Victoria then pulls her closer, whispering into her ear. “Then you have to get Chad's number,”

“What?!” Liz exclaims.

You heard me,” Victoria says pleased with herself.

That was how Victoria ended up getting the dress and Liz ended up getting Chad's number. It was already three in the afternoon and they both decided to go to Liz's house to check out their stuff—again!.

“So what's it with you and that guy?” Liz asks as she was driving

“What guy?” Victoria queries, bemused.

“The one that dropped you off yesterday,”

Victoria realized she was talking about Jason and she keeps quiet for a bit, thinking of what to say.

“You don't have to tell me if you don't want to,”

“No, its okay, I am Jason's prisoner” Victoria responds, her shoulders slumped.

“Hold up! Jason as in Jason de Vries? Part time warrior and student?” Liz asks and Victoria nods in the affirmative. “What do you mean his prisoner?”

“Well if a warrior captures his or her enemy during a battle, said enemy becomes their prisoner for life or is killed.”

Liz's expression darkened. “Oh, I am sorry”

“Its okay, he doesn't actually treat me like a prisoner…most of the time.”

“But its still wrong, what of your parents?” Liz asks in an upset tone.

“Well...they're dead” Victoria mumbled.

“Oh, I am sorry again. I have a lousy mouth” She says and Victoria gives her a warm smile.

“Enough about me, tell me about you. I still don't know your kind” Victoria states, desperate to bring up a new topic.

“Well, I technically don't have a kind,”

“You're mundane?”

“No, I am a supernatural.” She reassures Victoria. “When I was born, something went wrong and I lost my werejaguar DNA,”

“I apologize,” Victoria says.

“The wizards say I am no longer a werejaguar and cannot determine my species. I can still hear a little bit better than a regular human.” She explains.

Victoria tries to say something but is interrupted when Liz rolls down the window, holding a remote.

“Anyway, we're here!”

Victoria looks out the window to see the house and her jaws drop, raising her eyebrows, staring. Liz had said her house was big, but she didn't say it was humongous. You could fit two of Rita's house in it. It was a big white mansion, constructed in a modern way, with tall bricks surrounding the perimeter. The car went through the main gate, revealing a white nymph shaped fountain standing in the middle of the compound.

“If you are this rich, I wonder why you work,” Victoria declares, getting out of the car.

“I work cause it keeps from dying from boredom and I don't have to lie around useless,” Liz explains as they make their way to the front door. Opening the door,  they drop their shopping bags, going further into the house.

As they enter the living room, Liz's purse falls out of her hand as they stand in front of a scene Victoria wishes she could un-see.

Liz was frozen, staring with her eyebrows raised. “WHAT THE HECK?!” Liz yells.

Oh, Merlin's pants!!…
