Chapter 12 - Kýpellix Disorder

“So you have a big mouth?” said Laura, holding Victoria against the lockers. “Let's see how big it is when I bash my fist into it.”

“Aww…it’s so cute when you talk about things you don’t understand.”

Wait a minute! Did I just say that?

No, I did

Who are you?.

Your confidence!

Well stop trying to help

Back to her reality,  her so so very painful reality. What she said—well her insane split personality had said, made the students surrounding them go into ‘ooh's’ and ‘aah's' which made little Psycho Barbie and her plastic servants go gaga.

“Well let's see if your smarts will help you,” Laura said and swung her fist towards Victoria's face, but just before her hard dark knuckles were about to make fatal contact with her face, a hand held hers' back.

Oh crap! That was close.

Victoria turned her head to see who it was, hoping it would once again be her calvary. Her hopeful, barely apparently smile turned into a moue. Instead, it was—wait for it—Jason.

“I wouldn't do that if I were you,”

Gilt-edged superhero entrance. Not!

“Back off crackbrain,” The blond girl spat at him.

“Don't try using your siren tongue on me, Antoinette!” warned Jason. He constrainedly removed Laura's hand from Victoria's neck.

Victoria watched for Jason to maybe do the right thing, and call a teacher, but he does the flat-out reverse. He yanked out a knife from his boots, and hold it at Laura's neck, taking her by surprise.

“This is silver,” said Jason. “One slice and you're dead.”

How the heck did he sneak a knife into school?

She and her friends raised their hands in surrender. She turned to Victoria, probably wanting to hurt her the more, but the feeling was mutual.

“Count your blessings white girl, because next time, you are not going to be so lucky,” Bianca said and walked away, her pets following. Students started dispersing as the sound of their heels faded.

“Thanks,” Victoria said as Jason put the knife back in his boots, and adjusted his jacket.

“You're welcome,” Jason's voice didn't sound as brittle as usually was, and Victoria could have sworn that she saw his mouth curve upwards.

Cough! It was Liz. Victoria had completely forgotten that she was still there.

“He doesn't seem quite bad,” She blurted out, making Jason give Victoria a questioning stare.

“Same goes for you Eliza,” He said in an icy tone before walking away.

He's back.

“What was that about?” Victoria asked, but Liz overlooked the question with a smile. Victoria could tell something was bugging her, but she decided not to bother her any further.

She will tell me when she feels it's time. She thought.

* * *

Four days had passed, and Bianca and her coterie had made it their mission to make Victoria's life a living, nettlesome nightmare.

Victoria had also successively almost blown up the whole classroom when she had tried to make manticore poison antidote granting her detention.

Detention was just another name for “Scum Duty”. They (Victoria, Diego, some students, and Diego plus a few other students) had to clean the school dungeon which was just a long maze of filth, cobwebs, and poop.

Regardless, it wasn't all that bad, apart from having to clean dried poop for two hours in a hot stuffy dungeon.

“So heard you are now the fastest,” Victoria heard a voice say behind her, and she turned to see Diego...a shirtless Diego. His toned and lean body was staring at Victoria and she unconsciously bit her lower lip.

Victoria kept staring at him, not because the light entering the dungeon made his skin look sparkly, or how his skin looked very smooth and soft, almost velvety, or that his body was covered in sweat, all sliding down his slender breadbasket, into his...

PG thoughts, PG thoughts

She bent her head, so her red hair, covered her slightly red, perspired face. “Hi,” She finally said.

“I can tell your blushing,”

“No, I'm not!” Victoria defended.

Victoria felt Diego move closer to her, placing his mouth to her ear. “So you don't mind me being so close to you, shirtless. You know you want to look at my sexy body.”

Victoria couldn't take it anymore. He was teasing her, and it was working. She could smell the musky smell that all horny teenage boys had. He was quite handsome. He brushed his arm against Victoria's waist, and she lost it.

“Oh for Pete's sake, put on a shirt!” She vocalized and took a step back from him.

Diego chortled. “Do you want me to wear a shirt?”

“Yes, please,” Victoria uttered, and after a few seconds, raised her head to view Diego in a red T-shirt that read I put the oop in poop.

Victoria found it hard not to guffaw at the sight of his attire. She sucked on her knuckles as she inhaled deeply, trying to calm herself down.

“I haven't been seeing around lately,” Victoria informed Diego as she finally began scrubbing the floors with a long wooden brush, and the other boy following suit.

Victoria tried to not focus on Diego's bulging muscles as he spoke. "Yeah, I've been busy with an art project and some other school stuff,”

“You paint?” Victoria questioned, regretting it almost PDQ.

Of course, he paints; he just said so. Victoria thought to herself.

He nods, chuckling a little at Victoria's behavior. Victoria felt So embarrassed. How could a guy make her feel so...so dunderheaded?

There was silence between them as they kept on scrubbing animal ordure. “So how did it feel to beat McCain?”

“Awesome!” Victoria screeched, gaining the attention of some other students around them. “But down worry, I'm not planning on becoming The Flash.” She wisecracked, and both of them burst into a fit of cachinnation.

Victoria had concluded to listen to Professor Devereaux and try out for the Kýpellix team. She was feeling so pumped… well, that was before she discovered that tryouts were going to be very onerous.

She was currently in the girls' locker room, changing into her sports clothes, before putting her bag on her shoulder, and heading to the amphitheater.

Victoria was grateful that it was a closed tryout. The amphitheater was only filled with about thirty students including Devereaux. Victoria dropped her bag on the grass and walked to stand where the others stood.

“Listen up ding–a–lings!” Bianca the team's co-captain (Jason was the other)—the hell squad— vociferated as the sign-ups stood in a straight line. “So you think you deserve to be on the Kýpellix team?”

Why do I have to face her again? Victoria mentally questioned herself.

Scientists say the cosmos is comprised of electrons, protons, and neutrons. However, Victoria didn't recollect anything about morons.

“Yes!” we all shout.

“Well, there's only one way to do that,” Bianca uttered, and clapped her hands together, making Laura and Antoinette along with some of the other team members to each to go a different spot on the side of pitch opposite the sign-ups. Jason and the rest of the team sat on the rarest site watching whatever was about to go down.

Victoria turned to look at Jason and saw him sneering at her with his arms folded.

He thinks I won't get in, thought Victoria. I'll show him.

Bianca soon joined the team, standing in front of them all. “You have to play a game of Kýpellix,” She said. “There are only two spots open. So, the two who don't fall off, or manage to reach our end with your cup are in.”

Professor Devereaux arose from where he sat. “Play only to capture. No maiming or killing. Cooper.”

Victoria was freaking out. She had never played Kýpellix before. Sure, she had stayed up all night reading Kýpellix: A History and Guide, it that was nothing compared to what she had to do. Victoria could rely on only one thing —while trying not to get killed by Bianca and her minions—;  her instincts.

Professor Devereaux let out a loud blast from his black whistle.

No one moved an inch. They all knew what was about to happen, and moving would only make them lose. The whole arena began to shake violently. It was starting.

The pitch began to ride up, a hundred long pillars lifting it up from below the ground. The game was about to get a whole lot of brutal.

Eventually, the pitch stopped rising, and two brightly jeweled goblets were tossed up from below. Victoria waited; if she had learned anything from always watching action movies, it was to let your opponent strike first, and then you do the opposite of what they expect.

A blond girl that stood beside Bianca made a very blistering movement with her feet, pounding it on the grass with all her might. “Ripo!

A strong williwaw rose up out of nowhere and blasted the people at the front of their side of the pitch. One of the sign-ups fell off the pitch, and Victoria forced her feet to stick to the ground to avoid falling. They had made their move now it was her turn.

Bianca's team ran forward with their goblet in Laura's hand. Her team was really belting along on the pitch, hitting Victoria's team.

Victoria ran through the crowd, tripping her opponent. She heard a masculine voice yell in her direction, and she dives into the grass as a blue light went over her head. She stood up immediately and sighted her ginger-headed foe. She ran towards him, and jumped at the last minute, using her leg to hit him in the chest. The boy flew several feet back until he eventually fell off the pitch.

Victoria's eyes darted in all directions as she tried to catch her breath. She didn't notice the blonde girl from before coming behind. It was already too late when she heard the girl yell “Lakisio!

Victoria jumped away, but the spells managed to hit her in the left shoulder. Victoria fell to the ground as the felt blood leave her body. She touched her shoulder with her right hand. She could feel a deep cut. The girl charged at Victoria, but someone else hit her in the back sending her falling off the pitch.

They want dirty? She thought as she painfully rose to her feet. I'll give the dirty.

Victoria's team advanced blasting spells in return, unleashing claws at their opponents. The goblet was being tossed from one hand to another as they made their way to the end of their opponent's side of the pitch to deposit their goblet.

Half of the sign-ups had already fallen off the pitch, but so had about a quarter of Bianca's team. Victoria was beyond shocked when she felt the goblet enter her hands. She didn't know what to do. All her mind was telling her was to run; run as fast as she could. She turned to her male sign-up by her side.

“Cover me!” She bellowed.

The guy understood and quickly told other signups. They began to surround her, blocking all attacks that came towards Victoria.

Victoria ran as fast as she could without falling down. Her shoulder still hurt, but she could already feel tissues repairing themselves. She kept her focused on her destination; on her goal. So far, two of the sign-ups were out of the game.

Victoria kept on running, constantly dodging spells and puches thrown her way. She was almost at the end— she was going to make it. Victoria was so excited as she continued moving, pumping her legs left and right...until WHACK!

Someone had pushed her in the face. Victoria fell to the ground in pain as the goblet rolled out of her hand. Her nose was bleeding. She turned to see her attacker, and she wasn't surprised to see Bianca staring at Victoria with her eyes glowing blue color.

The game had stopped around them as everyone was watching the two girls. Victoria rose to her feet, holding her nose, and her eyes burning with fury.

“Are you insane?” She thundered. “This is a game, not World War II!”

Bianca smiled, posing like the fruitcake she was. “I did tell you to watch your back!”

Victoria didn't know how to react. “This was because of a stupid race!” She yelled. “Looks like I overestimated the number of brain cells you have.”

Bianca's expression turned dark and her eyes looked like they were blazing. “Ok, that's it!”

Growling with fury, Bianca charged Victoria, her claws at alert, but Victoria was quicker. She jinked the move, grabbed Bianca's wrist, and stepped behind her. She then sunk her foot into the back of Bianca's knee. She fell to the floor and rolled away before Victoria could act again.

Before Bianca stood on my feet, she slammed into Victoria's back with full force. In excruciating anguish, Victoria slammed her elbow backwards, feeling it connect to Bianca's body.

Bianca stumbled back, and Victoria lunged at her, and jumped on her shoulders, and twisting herself so that the other girl hit the ground once again with tremendous force.

People had crowded around them. Some had brought out their cellphones and were recording the action, while others changed who they wanted to win. Victoria was surprised to even hear her name shouted among the crowd.

Victoria let out a shout of agony as she felt claws go into her side. She rolled over into the grass. Bianca climbed over her and began punching her in the face. Victoria was too tired to move. All she could was scream and cry, but Bianca wasn't stopping.

Victoria kept on screaming, as she felt something building inside of her. It was like something was in her body trying to get out. Wet it out, she gave up resistance.

“Get off me!” She boomed, pushing her hands against Bianca's body. A red light suddenly appeared from Victoria's hand, blasting Bianca away from her. The other girl landed at the other end of the pitch, with several cuts in her body as if made by swords.

I CAN CAST SPELLS?!

Victoria stood up and stared at the faces around her. They were filled with utter terror. They moved back from where they stood; they were scared of her.

Victoria couldn't take it anymore. She had to leave; she had to leave now! She quickly limped off the high pitch, landing on her knees. She didn't care that it hurt. She had only one objective — Get out!

What is wrong with me? She thought to herself as she raced away from the amphitheater.
