Chapter 11-Bitch Alert
AND THE HOT GET HOTTER!
Victoria could now see that Diego was way more handsome than the last time she saw him. Staring at him, she could see his pale complexion which suit him perfectly, his grey eyes, his short dark hair, and straight nose. He wasn't all that muscle-ly, but he was quite tall and well-built.
The sound of a cough made Victoria come out from her haze. Oh crap, I had been staring! She thought.
"Miss Lawrence, I see you've met Mr. Siller. But could you both please stop raping each other with your eyes?" Victoria heard Mr. Rivera, their mathematics teacher say causing the whole class to snicker. Both? She thought. That meant that Diego had also been staring at her. She takes a quick glance at him to see that he along with herself was crimson.
The bell rang. Victoria stood up to pack her stuff before leaving the class. The voice of someone calling her name made her stop in her track. She turned to see who it was. It was Diego again.
"Wait up," He shouted. "Do you mind me walking you to your locker?" He asked. Victoria stared at him blankly unsure what of what to say before finally nodding her head. The walk to Victoria's locker was silent until Diego decided to break it.
"Vampire huh?" Was that a good thing or a bad thing?
"Yes." Victoria tentatively responded. "I hope you're not a vamp hater like the remaining seventy percent of the student body?" Victoria notices a huddle of students gossiping about something. It was probably about her since they stared directly at her and the fact that she could literally hear what they were saying. Hello, enhanced senses!
"Just give them some time, they'll come around," Diego said giving Victoria a tiny nudge.
"I never got to thank you for saving me on Saturday," Victoria uttered.
"Eh, it was no biggie. Someone had to do it and I'm glad it was me," said Diego. Victoria chuckled at his statement.
They finally arrive at Victoria's locker. "I guess I'll see you around Vee," Diego said facing Victoria. "So long King Kong." He concluded, walking away.
Opening her locker, Victoria shoves all her books into it, all except for a mathematics textbook and a supernatural history book. She stated at the paperback reading it; Seliniakó Katafỳgio: A History. She had never imagined that she would be mixing this two books together. The sound of a high-pitched scream startled Victoria, blasting her eardrums inwards.
Shutting the locker, she turned to face an auburn-haired wacko, mental girl, also known as Liz. She pulls Victoria into a tight hug.
"I'm so happy to see you again," said Liz, tightening her grip on Victoria, who struggled to allow a few molecules of oxygen enters her nostrils.
Victoria thought Liz was strong, even for human or rather supernatural...You get it!
"Can't breathe!" She managed to whisper.
"Sorry," She says releasing Victoria. "I'm a hugger."
"No kidding. You nearly made me pass out."Victoria uttered, rubbing her arms, making sure there weren't any bruises.
Liz's visage changed to a worried one. "Speaking of passing out, how are you doing?"
"At least I don't feel like I'm being boiled, so that's progress," Victoria joked.
"I hope you recover soon." Liz blurted.
"We'll talk later. I got to get to class." Victoria announced, turning and walking, half running actually to her class.
Supernatural history class was hell. Let's just say never try to act smart to Mrs. Rider. The blond, slim woman was very strict. She talked in a slow, monotonous voice that students drowsy. Sleeping in her class was a big no-no. Anyone who dared to sleep or play pranks in her class, would either have horns for hair, be transformed in an animal or do detention. Frankly, I'd go for detention anytime. She was a teacher we disliked but strongly deserved.
Victoria had also been given a tour of the school by one of the prefects. Yes, prefects! Victoria was confused at the mention of the word. It turned out in South Hill didn't use the class president system.
The school was so big, Victoria couldn't even finish the tour. All classrooms began on the second floor. She did see a lot of places like the Potions Classroom. It was a very large, rectangular-sized classroom, with large tables and cupboards filled with potion. Victoria called it a Chemistry laboratory with a big bang!
Then she went on to the Enchantment Classroom which was filled with stacks of spell books and a large window. She also saw the Augury Classroom, English Classroom, Alchemy Classroom, Arts Classroom, Music Classroom, Study of Ancient Runes, and then, the Monster Studies Classroom.
Victoria had to cross the stone bridge to get to the latter classroom. The classroom itself was big, surrounded by windows, with bookshelves and several small cages filled with tiny creatures, stacked behind the class.
On the third floor, was the library. The library took about half of the entire floor. It contained hundreds of thousands of books piled on shelves that almost reached to the ceiling. To get to the books at the top, one only needed to climb a tall ladder fixed to the shelf, telling it which section or which book was needed.
After climbing the stairs for so long, Victoria's legs felt like jelly. When she got down to the ground floor, she was taken to the Hall of the Ceryneian Stag. It was a very large hall that could easily contain everyone in the school. It had tall silvery walls that reached up to the ceiling that had a large painting of a golden deer. It was filled with several windows, with the biggest at that far front of the hall. The hall was meant for assemblies and special events.
They went through a small quad that connected the school to the huge Training Field where Defence In Battle classes are taught.
Later, She went to the room below the ground floor. She saw the dungeon. She felt like gagging. The dungeon took up the whole area, leaving little space for a storage room. It contained about a hundred stone-walled cells, secured by rusty but strong aluminum, impossible to open without the permission of the warden. It was currently not in use, not that It has been for the last four hundred years.
Victoria was upset when the bell rang ending her free period. It was now lunchtime and she had promised to sit with Liz in the lunch hall. The lunch hall was sparsely filled up with students. Victoria and Liz both sat down on an empty table after collecting their food from the counter. Victoria remembered how the lunch lady stared at her when she asked for a blood fondue. She was even nervous about eating, with all the weird states everyone was giving her.
Though the school was filled with about six species, they were dominated by the strongest species which are the werewolves since they outnumbered others two to one.
Liz gave her a smile of confidence as she dug into her food. "Quick advice. Never put on too much makeup, don't go to the dungeon alone unless you want to die, and, avoid getting on anyone's bad side especially the Bianca What's-Her-Face." Liz said, fixing her gaze on something behind Victoria.
Liz groaned. "Speaking of bitches, their way their queen comes."
Victoria turned to see who Liz was talking about. It was a ginger-red haired girl wearing a red and black striped dress that displayed her slim figure. It was strange that she reminded Victoria of Jason and at that point, whatever reminded her of Jason was going to be a pain in the butt.
She stopped at their table. She gave a confident smile, her head lifted, standing tall."Eliza, how wonderful to see you." Bianca said, but Victoria was sure she didn't mean it. Bianca's gaze falls on Victoria.
"You must be Victoria. The vampire," She didn't sound pleased. "I have heard the whispers about you."
Victoria's face was plastered with a fake smile as if to say; You suck, but I can't tell you that. So here, a fake smile! Enjoy. Bianca grinned before turning her attention back to Liz.
"Hello, Bianca nice to see you again," Liz replied. Victoria could tell what the other girl was thinking. Probably, how I wish I could wipe that grin off your pancaked face.
Liz stood up from her seat, glaring at Bianca."We were just leaving, weren't we Victoria?"
"But I am done with my fondue!" Victoria whined in response.
"Well you've had enough for today," Liz snapped and the next thing Victoria knew, she was being dragged out of the lunch hall.
"What was that about?" Liz asks as they entered the hallway. Victoria raised her brows in confusion.
"What? I was trying to be nice." She defended.
"Well if you noticed, Bianca does not so nice!" They were both walking down the hall, trying not to draw attention to themselves (not!).
"You said I should watch out for people like her. So I was trying to be nice. Was that wrong?" Victoria inquired, both of them stopping, Victoria staring into Liz's eyes. The other girl's expression changed to that of guilt.
"It's okay just watch out for her," Liz said placing a hand on Victoria's shoulder with a weak smile. "What class do you have next?"
"Defence In Battle, you?"
"Same," said Liz. "It's going to be a long class if Laura is there."
"Don't tell me it's one of Bianca's 'friends'?!" said Victoria. The bell rang and they made their way to the girls' locker room.
"More like her minion," Liz uttered. "but you'll be okay as long as you don't get picked to spar with her because Professor Devereaux won't make you stop until the class is over. That man will make you bend your bones in unnatural angles." She lamented as they both finally got to the locker room.

Victoria and Liz groaned as they walked over the stone bridge. Both of them, along with some other students had gone to the Training Field, only to find out that class had been moved to the amphitheater.
They hurried across the stony structure and went through the gates that lead into the circular building. Victoria had never been in a building so humongous. The pitch was very big, covered with short grasses, and surrounded with rising tiers of seats ranged about.
Half of the class were already on the pitch staring at someone. Victoria went to the front of the class, and stared at the field properly, and saw a lean, dark-skinned girl with long black hair run around the pitch at almost the speed of light. The other students tuning with her weren't even trying to keep up.
"That's Laura." said Liz, in a bitter tone.
Eventually, the students stop running, stopping right in front of the remaining students. A round-faced boy fell down on his face.
Laura had warm brown skin, brown eyes, with her long black hair tied in a ponytail, plastered to her skin. Laura was a very beautiful girl. She had a tall, athletic, and thin physique.
A tall man with curly brown hair, brown eyes, Caucasian skin, and a small beard, was talking with her. Victoria assumed he was Professor Devereaux.
"It is nice to see," He said. "that some of you understand the meaning of punctuality."
Victoria noticed that Professor Devereaux had a very French that seemed to compliment his appearance.
"So who's going against Miss McCain?" The professor asked.
No one seemed to want to. Majority took many steps further back in response. Laura McCain smiled confidently, but Victoria also noticed that there was a bit of disappointment sprinkles on her face. She had no opponent to crush. Victoria did the stupidest thing that came across her.
"I'll do it." She said.
There was gasp around her, and Liz pulled her, and whispered. "What part of "Stay away from Bianca and her minions" didn't you undertand?"
Victoria disregarded her, stepping forward.
"Wonderful!" said Devereaux, beaming "Whats your name?"
"Victoria Lawrence, Professor." answered Victoria.
"So its the vampire against me." Laura spat at Victoria.
"Sorry can Victoria skip this? She isn't feeling well." Liz vocalized from behind Victoria.
"As much as I appreciate your concern Miss Siller," said Devereaux. "Veronica-"
"Victoria." corrected Victoria.
"-here has made her choice and can't change it."
"Fine." uttered Liz, falling back into line.
Professor Devereaux gestured Victoria to the field beside Laura as the class moved forward to watch them.
Victoria bent down beside Laura, and stared at the big line that demarcated the pitch into two halves.
"Terrified?" Laura murmured, maliciously.
"Not in your wildest dreams." responded Victoria.
Victoria lied. She was losing her freaking mind. She couldn't beat Laura... She wasn't even sure she could beat Jason.
"There - two - one - go!" Devereaux shouted.
Laura speedily stood up and ran, leaving Victoria behind. Victoria felt her self getting tired trying to keep up with Laura. She inhaled deeply as she began to slowly decline in speed.
Victoria inhaled again and suddenly the air seemed to wake up her senses. She felt re-energized as if she had downed twenty espresso cups. She made her legs move faster and faster until she began gaining on Laura and was run at an equal pace.
Victoria forced herself to move even faster. After running for what seemed like five minutes, Victoria saw the professor signal for them to run the last lap.
Victoria came to a halt in front of the class and suddenly felt herself lose her her energy. Her adrenaline rush left her. She couldn't breath properly and felt like she had consumed all the air in her lungs.
Still trying to catch her breath, Victoria turned to the class to see th a mist of them had their mouths wide open in shock. The bell rang bringing them out of their hazes.
Some of the students give a soft clap, while the others just left the amphitheater looking shocked. Victoria turned to Laura.
"Good run." She say offering the dark-skinned girl a handshake, but Laura just ignores it.
"Don't think this is over Lawrence!" Laura spat out and turned away scowling as she made her way out of the amphitheater.
"Vanessa, my office, now." Professor Devereaux said as she tried to leave the pitch.
"Victoria." She corrected.

Devereaux's office was decorated with thick wallpapers of gray and red. At the south of the office stood a bronze ancient Greek armour with a black horsehair crest. His desk and bookcases were filled with worn out books and a few trophies. Any human being would think that they were football or basketball trophies and all that jazz, but they were actually trophies for Kýpellix. Victoria was confused at the word at first, unable to pronounce it well.
"You must know why I called you here?" He questioned, but Victoria shook her head in answer.
"Well, it's simple," said Devereaux. "You beat the fastest girl in the whole school."
Victoria was stunned. She hadn't heard clearly.
"So... I am now the fastest in the whole school. Well, that's a first"
"I want you to try out for the Kýpellix team this Friday." The professor said and handed Victoria a flyer.
"Excuse me professor," Victoria had said. "What is Kýpellix?"
Devereaux was at first shocked by the question, but he answered.
"Kýpellix is the supernatural sport of Niakos. The object of the game is to steal your opponent's goblet and return it to your side without being captured."
"So, it is like Capture the Flag?"
"Yes," answered Devereaux. "You could say it is similar to Capture the Flag, but with real weapons, magic and magical devices, inevitable injuries, and of course, occasionally killing."
"I don't think that's a good idea." uttered Victoria. "Its my first day and I haven't played before."
"That's no problem." Devereaux said and dropped a big paperback in front of Victoria. She read the cover: 'Kýpellix: A History and Guide.'
"I'm not sure." Victoria said as she gingerly kept the book in her bag.
"Think about it." He said and Victoria took her leave.
On entering the hallway, Victoria saw Liz waiting for her, fully changed into her normal clothes. She looked furious.
"What did he say?" Liz asked after they both left the girl's locker room together, both in their normal clothes.
"I am currently the fastest girl in the whole school," Victoria explained. "and he wants me to try out for the Kýpellix team."
"You have a problem." Liz states. "I warned you to keep your head low. Kids in this school don't take intruders likely and you stink of intruder."
"It's not-" Victoria felt a hand drag her back, slamming her against the lockers. Victoria saw that her problems were three girls. A ginger-head girl, a dark-skinned, and a blonde.
Victoria wasn't surprised who they were. Lucky, she had gotten herself a bitch-alert from Bianca and her minions.
This is NOT going to end well.
