Chapter 11
I need you like a heart needs a beat
- Unknown
The house was filled with the fragerance of fresh flowers at every corner, everything was placed in a proper order. Dylan was dashing from one corner of the house to another checking everything in a perfect order because due to his great observing skills, he was now familiar how Aurora was a neat freak. And not wanting to invite any furthermore trouble he was checking everything. Though his house was really big for just one person, with the latest furniture as his parents didn't wanted his baby boy to face any trouble they provided him with every facility.
Dylan's face was glowing just by the thought of her. He couldn't comprehend what was happening to him because it was not like she was the first girl she had ever talk with but this time was really different for him. He would automatically forget all his problems just by seeing her and his stomach would produce butterflies whenever he's near her. He had met her only two times and he started trusting her, it was like his heart has sabotage his brain. The sound of the doorbell snapped him back to his real world and before opening the door he once again checked himself in the mirror, readjusting his hair.
He opened the door and welcomed her "Come in"
Aurora stepped inside, her red highlights were well going with her leather black jean and maroon top along with long boots. She strode forward with her long legs and glanced at her surroundings, analysing every nook and hook of the house as with the genes of witch, it was an easy task for her to identify any bad omen around her.
"I hope you didn't face any problem while finding my house" said Dylan gesturing her to take a seat on the couch which was placed in the lobby forming a circle with a wooden table in the center of it.
"I've lived in this city more than enough to get familiar with it's every route" said Aurora monotonously, resting her bag on the table.
"Well it's good then. You can help me to get familiar with this city" he said while plopping besides her startling her.
She moved aside a bit, wondering about that secretive bracelet "I think we shall start studying"
"Oh yeah sure" he grins
She started taking out books from her bag as her gaze fell upon the photos which were placed on the wooden plate between the couches making a corner "Is he your grandfather?"
"Yes, he is" he said looking at the photo, his eyes were beaming "I really miss him though, it's the first time I've stayed away from him and also my family"
"You really love him don't you" she remarked, reminiscing about her own messed up family. Even though you belong to a supernatural world, you couldn't escape the family issues.
"Yeah very much. Tell me about your family"
"There's nothing to tell" she said avoiding his gaze. She opened the book and started ruffle through its pages while the former was just observing her "Its okay if you don't wanna tell but please don't use violence on that little book, its innocent" he tried to lighten up the mood but only to get glares in return.
"You're so damn irritating!" she sneered
"Okay okay i don't wanna get myself killed today and I'm pretty sure you'll not be hesitant to do that" he joked but unaware of the fact that it could be true because she was prone to it.
She was in a deep thought, how could a person like him be a threat to us? He doesn't even know anything but still she wanted to investigate this in depth. Soon both of them started learning about the history of New Orleans, ruffling through the pages of book which was a full boredom for Dylan because the reason he invited over her was not actually studying . While Aurora's mind was flooding with uncertainties about him but she felt something changed in her. It was the first time she could be herself, putting her guard down and this was strange for her.
"Oh lord enough! I can't take it anymore. How in the world are you so good in this subject. There are so many dates, so confusing!" he groaned stretching his arms and laid down on the couch like a lifeless body.
"It's not that hard" she said as she laid back on the couch closing her eyes.
"You want to eat something? I'm hungry. I can cook pasta" he said jumping from his seat and even without looking at her he dashed towards the kitchen and took out all the necessary ingredients.
"Can you help me with these vegetables?" he shouted from the kitchen
"With what?" she enquired, marching towards him and the former slide the chopping board along with the knife towards her gesturing her to cut the veggies.
Aurora was just staring at the knife and then to the veggies because she never ever in her life stepped inside a kitchen infact it was very rare for her to even see the kitchen. In other words, her world was totally different from his, they didn't ate these human food until or unless they were in there presence because their main diet was something else.
"Umm....I..i don't know how to really chop or cook" she stated avoiding his hazel orbs while he was just trying to suppress his laughter gazing at her facial expressions and how she bites her lip whenever she get nervous.
"Hey...it's okay really even i didn't knew how to cook until my father pushed me into the kitchen and shoved a knife in my one hand and in the other certain ingredients" he grinned at her, sniffing the gravy of the pasta "and I'm sure you must be daddy's princess and because of which he never let you work"
Her breadth hitched at his last words. The knife slipped on the shelf from her hand as it moved back of her neck. Once again every memory of her father was rolling like a clip in her mind along with every incident which led to the death of his father. From last 1000 years she was hopping from one place to another just in search of his father's murderer. Ever since the death of his father, she lost her happiness, forgetting everything her life's goal was to find him.
"Are you okay Aurora? Are you not well?" he questioned, judging by the color of her face.
"I..i think I should leave. It's already late. Bye" and she sprinted from there, taking along her all belongings. The former was just comprehending what happened. Did he said something wrong which offended her? He tried to catch her up but she was just vanished when he reached outside, of course she's a vampire, who was he kidding.
He dialed her cellphone but no response, now besides waiting no other choice was left with him, while the former was just wrapped up in her own mind. These unsorted feelings were making her a prisoner of her own musings.
