chapter four

Watching WandaVision has renewed my inspiration for writing some stories so let us see how much I can get done.

As always, if it is in italics it is spoken in Sokovian.

It had been three weeks since the Avengers ran their recon mission on the Hydra base in Sokovia and Tony and Bruce were still analyzing the data they had collected while there. They were currently running tests on Wanda to compare those results with the data from the Hydra base. Wanda was hooked up to at least half a dozen different machines, electrodes stuck to various places on her body.

"Now, Witchy, what we need you to do is simple." Tony supplied an answer, walking closer to Wanda with a tablet in his hand.

"I'm listening."

Tony tapped on his tablet for another moment before Wanda cleared her throat and Tony looked up. "Right. Basically, all you need to do is use your powers just a little bit at first, then gradually increase the strength of your usage until we let you know when to stop. Okay?"

"Are you sure your lab can handle that?" Wanda joked as Tony stepped back with Bruce.

Tony scoffed. "If you will, Maximoff."

Wanda started to use her powers, twisting a small hex ball in between her fingers before growing it in size, tossing it between her hands. She looked to Bruce, who had a frown on his face. He shook his head and she sighed, deciding to switch to a display of her telepathic powers.

What is it you want me to try now, Banner? Stark?

Bruce answered her telepathic message with a thought of his own.

Maybe try your telekinesis?

Alright, sure.

Wanda looked around the lab for a piece of equipment that looked nonessential to their testing of her. Finding it in an obsolete pen and pad of paper, Wanda used her telekinesis to lift the pen and paper and write down her name in Sokovian before flipping through the sheets of paper in the pad of paper.

"Alright Wanda, we've got what we need. Thank you." Bruce came into the main section of the lab from the observation room where he and Tony were previously, walking towards Wanda with empty hands. He began to unhook her from all the machines she was attached to.

"I'm free to go?" Wanda asked, desperately wishing for a shower. Bruce nodded. "And you'll let me know when you have any answers, correct?"

"Yup." Tony bound into the main part of the lab, a swarm of bots behind him. The bots began to scan the room, collecting data as they went. "Thanks, Witchy."

Wanda stared for a moment before leaving, walking out of the research and developmental part of the compound. She made her way to the living quarters, heading straight for her room. Once inside she stripped down and walked to the showers, desperate to get the feeling of the electrodes off her body.

After her very long and hot shower Wanda found herself standing outside her brother's room, her fist raised to knock. Before she got the opportunity to the door flung open and Pietro was standing there. He pulled her into his room and looked at her. "How were the tests? Did they hurt? They didn't hurt you, did they? Ooh, I'll kill Stark if he hurt you again - "

Wanda chuckled, placing a calming hand on her twin's arm. "Relax, 'tro. They did not hurt me. The tests went fine and they promised to come to me with any results they find."

Pietro nodded once. "Good. It is about time we got some answers."

"We don't have them yet, Pietro. Soon hopefully, but not yet." Wanda sighed. "I can't help but feel as if we are missing something that is right in front of our faces though. Something important."

Pietro pulled his sister into a hug. "Whatever it is, Wands, Stark and Banner will figure it out and let us know. After all, they don't call them certified geniuses for nothing."

Wanda snorted. "You're right. I just...I can't get their faces out of my mind. Those boys we came across...they looked and acted tough and intimidating, but underneath that I could sense turmoil and anguish within. It...pained me."

Sighing, Pietro kissed Wanda's hair. "You are too good for your own sake, Wands, feeling empathy and compassion for the enemy."

Wanda bit her tongue, not wanting to argue that those boys didn't feel like the enemy, despite their apparent allegiance. They felt...familiar. She couldn't help but feel slightly defensive of them.

It was concerning her for she did not know why.

The two teen boys were laying down on medical gurneys in a laboratory, various machines hooked up and attached to them as scientists and doctors stood around them with clipboards and tablets, talking amongst themselves and ignoring the two teen boys.

"Hey, Billy?" Tommy murmured, glancing at his brother through the corner of his eye.

"Yes Tommy?"

"Why do you allows us to be submitted to these tests, to this poking and prodding like we are some kind of anomaly? Can't you make them stop?" Tommy whispered.

Billy was silent for a moment. "I...I have tried before, it does not end well."

"However do you mean?"

"I'd rather not say."

"Billy...we promised. No secrets between us. How does it not end well?" Tommy narrowed his eyes at his brother.

Billy sighed. "Allow me to demonstrate."

Tommy's eyes widened when he realized what exactly his brother was trying to get at. "Billy wait. Don't do i - "

Billy's eyes began to glow bright light blue and he stared at the scientists and doctors. "Release us at once."

Without warning, Billy began jerking around on the table, screams of pain tearing out of his open mouth. Tommy laid helplessly next to his brother, screaming his name. Turning his head to look at the scientists and doctors, Tommy glared at them as he spoke. "Stop! You are killing him! Do you really want your golden goose to die?!"

The doctors and scientists stared emotionlessly down at the two boys for another moment before Billy stopped jerking. He heaved in heavy breaths, his head lolled to the side to look at Tommy. Forcing his eyes open Billy stared at Tommy as involuntary tears leaked out of his eyes. "That, brother dearest, is why  I don't try to fight against the tests."

"Billy, I am so sorry. I forgot about - "

"Tommy, it is okay."

"No it isn't! They nearly killed you."

Billy chuckled. "It is like you said, we are their golden geese. They would never allow us to die. Not on their watch."

Tommy didn't reply, he just vibrated his molecules out of the cuffs that kept him shackled to the table, reaching one hand out towards Billy, who saw this and retaliated by doing the same. They interlocked their hands as the scientists and doctors descended upon them to begin their tests, the brothers braving through them, holding on by the knowledge that they will always have their brother with them by their side.
