I get a phone call while laying with Newt.
"I'll be right back." I tell him and give him a quick kiss on the cheek.
"Alright." He says.
I get up off of the bed and I grab my phone before heading outside. It's an unknown number, so I decide to answer it.
"Hey (Y/N)! I've missed you babe!" A male's voice says.
"Who is this?" I ask him.
"Max, your boyfriend silly." He says.
"I broke up with you before coming to Everglade. I didn't want a long distance and I didn't want to be with you anymore." I tell him.
"Well, I bet you want me now right? You couldn't have moved on." Max asks.
"Actually, I have. I've found myself someone who I'm totally in love with." I say.
"Mhm, sure. Like you could replace me." Max says.
"Listen to yourself! You just wanted me to show me off. Newt doesn't. He's with me because he actually loves me. You never did anything with me. You forgot about my birthday last year. Then you never took me out. I may be at a boarding school, but Newt makes time to take me on dates." I tell him.
"He's not better than me. What about the necklace and the ring set I got you?" Max asks.
"You can't buy love, Max! He doesn't try to pay his way to my heart. He takes me out to do things and just spending time with him is enough for me. I don't need fancy gifts or expensive surprises." I say.
"Sure. He's not gonna make you happy." Max says.
"He makes me happier than any boy I've ever dated. Max, I broke up with you for a reason. You clearly didn't love me anymore and I had lost feelings too. Did Connie break up with you? Is that why you're calling me?" I question.
"She broke up with me. But it made me realize how I was still in love with you. I love you (Y/N) and I never will stop." Max says.
"You just want a girl to toy with. You dumped me three times. I'm sorry for finding a boy who loves me and doesn't just want to sleep with me all the time. That's all you ever wanted. Then you would find a girl who would and dump me. And when you were done with that girl, you would try for me again. It's funny you thought I would ever sleep with you." I spit.
Newt walks out of his room and looks at me. Concern fills his expression and his eyes have a worried look. He then gives me a look to ask if I'm okay.
I shake my head no, and he grabs the phone and puts it on speaker.
"Hello?" Newt asks.
"Who's this, why are you talking to my girlfriend." Max asks.
"From what I heard; she isn't your girlfriend. You're pathetic. You never deserved her, and you never will. So, I suggest you lose her number now. I love the fact you don't know what a breakup is. You had so many chances with her too. That's what makes me sick. You would throw away all of those chances to be with someone so beautiful, so amazing, and so caring." Newt spits.
"You don't know what you're on about mate." Max says.
"I'm not your mate. Don't call me that. I'm actually (Y/N)'s boyfriend and she doesn't wish to talk to you. I'd love for you to leave her alone so I can go back to cuddling her without any of your stupid interruptions please and thank you. I actually value all the time I spend with her." Newt says and hangs up the phone.
I watch as Newt clicks a few more buttons on the phone and hands me my phone back. He blocked his number. Thank God for Newt.
"Thanks Newt. You're amazing and I literally don't know what I would ever do without you by my side. You literally treat me like a princess, and I can't believe I got so lucky. Every time I look at you, I can't believe I have you. And I feel like if I close my eyes, when I open them, you'll be gone." I tell him.
"(Y/N), sometimes when I'm with you, I have to pinch myself. I'm scared it's all one amazing dream. I'm scared I'll lose you when I wake up. I treat you like a princess because you are one. You deserve the world and I wish I could give it to you, but I can't. I love you." Newt says.
"I love you too Newt. I'm so lucky to have you in my life." I say.
He pulls me back into his room and we sit on the edge of his bed together in a comfortable silence. I rest my head on his shoulder and he sets his on top of mine. Neither of us dare to move or break the silence. Being with each other is enough.
I move to lay on his bed, and motion for him to lay down next to me. If I'm being honest, right now I just needed some Newt cuddles. The best kind of cuddles. The only cuddles that made my heart feel full of love.
"Newt, have I ever told you how much I love to cuddle you?" I ask him.
"No, I don't believe you have love." He says.
"Well, they're the best. For starters, I get to lay with the one person that I love more than anything. And that's just amazing. Then, there's the fact that you make me feel safe. Whenever I'm in your arms I feel like I'm invincible. Lastly, I feel so loved laying here with you. It feels right and it feels perfect. I love you so much Newt." I tell him.
"(Y/N), you are the absolute cutest thing ever when you're rambling. I can't even describe it. I love you too." Newt whispers.
Then my phone goes off. It's another unknown number.
"Hello?" I ask.
"(Y/N), baby!"
It's Max. Again. I'm sick of him and his stupid little games that he always plays.
"Goodbye." I say and I hang up the phone before blocking this number and rolling my eyes.
"Just Max again." I tell Newt.
Newt just nods understanding. He knows that he's the only one that I love, and he trusts me around other guys. He knows that I would never cheat on him.
"I'll bring you some dinner. I can run and grab us both some. You can just stay here and relax. You've had a really long day love." Newt says and I smile.
"You're the best. Thank you so much for bringing me some food. Trust me, I'll be waiting. Not for the food, but for you to come back." I say.
Newt just shakes his head and blushes while taking off his pajamas to get dressed. He didn't want to get in any trouble for walking outside with no uniform on when it's not a free day. They were very strict about uniforms here. He kisses my head before walking out to get the food.
I wrap myself in his blanket and pull them tightly around me. They smell just like him. I could smell the lemongrass, faint cologne, lavender, and mint on the blankets. I felt so cozy just being wrapped up in a cloud of his scent.
Shortly, Newt returns and hands me my plate of food smiling. It's a hamburger with green beans and some pudding on the side. Newt knows how much I like my pudding.
"Thank you so much. I needed this Newt." I tell him.
"Oh, of course." Newt says.
