Prompt #15
"I don't want to kill you. Trust me, I don't. But you gotta do what you gotta do."
Your grip was like stone as you led Porpentina into the nearest alleyway. More of your hoods crawled out from the shadows as you entered your territory. They crept around the crowd that had formed in the dark alleyway, laughing and whispering and pointing at their fearless leader walking with an auror.
"So," you drawled. "Let's get to the chase. Do ya plan to turn us in?"
Tina looked warily at the growing jumble of hoods. "W-well that depends," she stumbled. "You're (Y/N) (L/N)-"
"We don't say that name 'round here!" You hissed, tightening your grip on her arm. "It's Switchblade to you. And I wouldn't go on messin' around with me and my gang... we've got quite the reputation."
"You're Di Vice," she stated.
"Smart girl," Celine chuckled from behind us.
"You and 'your gang' are wanted for several accounts of theft, arson, no-maj endangerment, murder-"
"Now, now, I'd never tell nobody to kill-"
"You killed the previous leader of Di Vice, did you not?" Porpentina was getting more and more confident with each word. You stopped walking and glared at her.
"I don't know what kinda beef you've got with us, but you better keep your pretty little mouth shut before the murder we're bein' accused of is yours." You snarled.
You'd reached a dead end in the alley and lithe bodies stared at you from the shadows like mangled vultures watching a fight.
"I will not stand for any sort of crime! I'm an auror, for Merlin's sake!" She let her hands rise up and slap back down to her sides dramatically. You could tell she was threatened.
You sighed and ran a hand back through your ratty hair. "Look, Tina. I don't want to kill you. Trust me, I don't. I got a record a mile long and I don't need to add to it. But you gotta do what you gotta do."
She gulped and watched, petrified, as you drew your wand from your pocket. "This one's mine," you warned to the criminals around you. You didn't want to get messy with this; you wanted to be clear and concise. You wanted to make a point.
You raised your wand towards Porpentina, smiling manically. "Any last words?"
A tear dripped out of her eye and she sniffled. "One thing," she said with a shaky breath. "Accio case!" She whipped out her own wand and sent a spell shooting into the air. The members of Di Vice gasped and swore as the streak of light went shooting past their heads, before they turned their evil grins back onto their prey.
"Fat lotta good that'll do ya!" Someone snickered. You snorted at the girl's foolish actions. Huck started guffawing behind you and soon hundreds of voices joined in to create a cacophony of hoodlums laughing at a girl who'd just sealed her doom.
As you stood there cackling, your delicate ears picked up a sound over the pandemonium. It was a whizzing, whooshing noise, it was the sound of an object hurtling towards you at a hundred miles an hour-
"EVERYBODY SHUT UP!" You screamed, trying to listen. You turned around and suddenly ducked your head just in time as a tan case came flying in the alley.
You recognized it instantly. It was the magical case of Newt Scamander, your ex-boyfriend.
You wouldn't thought people would stay away from the leader of a ruthless gang, but no, men flocked to you like bees to honey. You ignored them, preferring to dedicate your life to Di Vice, but there was one man you couldn't ignore.
He was a magizoologist who came to New York to study creatures. You'd bumped into him at a bank where his niffler got loose (in trying to re obtain his creature he gave you perfect access to the vault you were trying to rob) and for some reason you and him were stuck with each other. He didn't care that you'd dropped out of Ilvermorny or that you were in a gang- he learned to love you for the person you were. And you loved him too, until he turned you into MACUSA for vandalism. Thankfully, your prison sentence was short lived (thanks to Celine and Huck threatening the jury members) and you got out, but you couldn't forgive Newt. He didn't understand that Di Vice was your family, and even if your family was made up of criminals, they'd been there for you when no one else had. So you had to leave him.
Your face went scarlet with rage ad realization. "You know that... that bastard-"
"Yes I know him! And I know what you were to him. He's not a bastard." Tina wrinkled her nose.
"How would you feel if the man you loved got you sent to the ice!" You yelled. People whooped and cheered and watched eagerly. You hadn't told them specifically to, but most of the gang hated Newt's guts. It was understandable; he almost put you in prison.
"He's a good man! That's the only reason you hate him now!" Tina barked.
In a fit of anger you screamed, "Avada Kedavra!" You flung out your wand and a crackling bolt of green light shot out the end and towards Poprpentina. She screamed and jumped out of the way just in time. She fell to the rough ground and stayed there, eyes wide.
Your chest was heaving, your eyes were blazing, and your hair dangled in your face like and madman. "Be grateful my aim was off!" You hollered to the auror on the ground. "And don't go try apparating away!"
She didn't say anything. You watched, simmering with fury, as she reached out and knocked on the case.
"You're gonna regret that," you muttered.
The members of Di Vice studied the case eagerly, anticipating your reaction at the man in the case.
Your fists curled as you watched the case unlatch and slowly, agonizingly slowly, open.
A head with sandy hair poked out of the case. It was complete with crystal blue eyes, a smattering of freckles, and cheekbones that could kill a man.
"Newt Scamander," You boomed, your eyes boiling with concealed hatred. "How nice of you to join us."
