Canon Era
Third Person POV
Jack was walking past the side of the Lodge, when he heard a voice.
"Hey, Jacky!"
Jack looks up, seeing his boyfriend grinning at him form on the fire escape, waving.
Jack chuckles a bit, his hand over his mouth slightly. "Crutchie, I love you, but how did you get up there?" He asks softly.
Crutchie purses his lips, swinging his legs a bit as they dangled over the side. "Climbed up here to talk to Race since he was being rude to himself again," Crutchie scratches the back of his head. "And then he left..." he mutters innocently.
Jack chuckles again, arms crossed and shaking his head a bit.
That kid...
"Do you need help getting down?" Jack asks the younger boy.
Crutchie shakes his head. "I can do it!" He exclaims, looking determined.
Oh God...
Jack stands below him, watching to make sure he didn't hurt himself.
Crutchie purses his lips again and furrows his eyebrows, looking around.
"Uh..." he mutters, staring at his crutch.
Crutchie looks at Jack. "I need help." He tells Jack innocently.
Jack chuckles. "I figured." He stands below Crutchie. "Jump and I'll catch you."
Crutchie looked nervous, but he trusted Jack.
He tosses his crutch down, watching Jack catch it and place it leaning against the wall.
Jack makes a motion for him to jump.
Crutchie slides off of the edge.
The next thing he knew, he was safely in Jack's arms and Jack placed him so he was standing on his good foot, Jack holding him.
"Wow." Crutchie looks up at Jack, his eyes filled with awe. "That was fun."
Jack chuckles. "Yeah, let's not try that again." He tells Crutchie.
Crutchie nods.
Jack grabs his crutch, handing it to him.
Crutchie smiles up at him, slipping the crutch under his arm.
"Now," Crutchie starts, turning away from Jack. "I need to go find Race."
He starts hobbling off, his crutch helping him walk.
Jack chuckles. "Baby," he starts.
Crutchie turns to face him, his crutch making a soft thump when he places it, like it always did.
"What if I go find him for you and bring him to your bunk?" Jack suggests.
Crutchie's eyes light up. "You'd do that?" He asks.
Jack chuckles, nodding.
"Thanks, Jacky!" He exclaims.
Jack walks over to him, lifting his chin slightly and placing a small kiss on his lips.
Crutchie blushes.
Jack chuckles. "Don't go on the fire escape again, please." He tells Crutchie. "Just go get someone to get Race for you."
Crutchie nods, smiling up at Jack.
Jack swore he almost melted.
Crutchie wasn't lying when he said he had a smile that spread like butter.
And it always turned Jack's head.
Later
Jack stops at his and Crutchie's bunk.
His eyebrows furrow. Crutchie said he was coming up here almost thirty minutes ago. Where is he?
As if he was listening, Crutchie's head pops up from Jack's bunk.
Jack had the top bunk.
"Hi, Jacky!" He exclaims, his blue eyes shining.
Jack's eyes widen. "Crutchie," he chuckles weakly. "How'd you get up there?" He asks, a bit concerned.
Crutchie grins at him, brushing his brown hair out of the way. "Specs helped me." He waves at the boy who sat on his bunk, his back against the wall while he read a book.
Jack looks over at Specs, who grins at Crutchie, waving back.
Specs shoots Jack a small smile, a chuckle escaping his lips.
Jack turns to face Crutchie. "Can I come up there with you?" He asks.
Jack was fully expecting Crutchie to make a sarcastic remark.
Instead, the younger boy grins at him, moving over slightly. "Please!" He exclaims.
Jack was them reminded that it was Crutchie and Crutchie was a different breed than any other human.
Jack chuckles a bit, climbing up next to Crutchie.
He lays behind Crutchie, closer to the wall, wrapping his left arm (the one he wasn't laying on) around Crutchie's waist, pulling him closer, and entangled his other hand in Crutchie's hair.
Crutchie smiles a bit.
"You know," Crutchie starts after a few minutes.
Jack hums as if telling him to continue.
"I miss Albert." He states. "He hasn't popped up and teased us like he usually would." He points out.
Jack bites his lip to hold back a chuckle.
He swore this kid got more innocent and adorable with each passing day, though it was probably that he just kept falling harder and harder for him.
Albert walks into the room as if on cue. "You two are just cute." He comments, walking past them.
Crutchie pops his head up, resting his chin on the guard rail of the bunk and trying not to move the other parts of his body so he didn't disturb Jack.
He grins. "Hey, Al." He greets.
Albert stops, looking up at Crutchie.
A small smile made its way onto his face and he didn't even bother to stop it.
It only made Crutchie more happy.
"Have a good night, Crutch." Albert tells him softly, ruffling his hair a bit. "Don't let Jack's snores wake you."
Albert walks off.
Crutchie giggles a bit, laying back down.
Jack pouts, offended.
Crutchie lays his head back, turning it a bit so he could look at Jack.
"Don't be offended, Jacky." Crutchie tells him. "He's just joking. Personally, I find that your snores are soothing." He nods at him.
Jack chuckles again.
He liked how Crutchie said 'personally' or 'personality'.
Jack presses a soft kiss to Crutchie's forehead, smiling a bit at the small amount of blush that appeared on his face after.
Crutchie let's Jack hold him, helping him fall asleep for the night.
In the morning
Jack chuckles, looking up at Crutchie.
"So..." Crutchie starts, itching the top of his head. "I didn't think this far ahead." He mumbles, shooting Jack a cheeky smile.
Jack chuckles again. "Would you like help, love?" He asks.
Crutchie nods shyly.
Jack chuckles again.
Jack reaches up for him, holding him under his arms as Crutchie holds his shoulders.
Jack gently lifts Crutchie over the rail of the bunk, before placing him down on the floor, holding him up so he didn't fall/acting like his crutch.
"Thanks." Crutchie smiles up at Jack, his blue eyes stopping Jack's heart for a minute.
Jack chuckles again, pressing a soft kiss to Crutchie's lips again.
"It's way to early for this." Albert mutters as he walks past the two boys.
Crutchie turns his head to face him, grinning. "Hey, Al!" He exclaims, genuinely happy to see him.
Albert looks over at Crutchie. "I take it back." He mumbles. "It's never too early to see that smile."
Crutchie's grin only grew.
Jack chuckles, wrapping his arms around Crutchie from behind him, pulling Crutchie against him.
Crutchie tilts his head back to look up at Jack, smiling.
Jack chuckles again. "I love you, baby." He whispers, nuzzling his head in the crook of Crutchie's neck.
Crutchie turns bright red.
He reaches up to play with Jack's hair. "I love you too." He whispers.
Jack's smile only widened.
