Third Person POV

A/N, this is for Gaby_Theater_Kid 's Weekly Writing Competition. It's amazing. Everyone should check it out.

"Mr. Jacobs."

Davey looked up at his phone, exhausted. He sighed a bit, pressing a button on the school-issued device. "Yes, Laura?"

"There's someone here to see you," the lady informed him.

Davey looked over at his calendar, wondering if he forgot about a meeting. However, there was nothing there. His eyebrows furrowed and he turned back to the phone. "Send them in?"

"Will do, Mr. Jacobs," Laura responded.

Davey sighed, rubbing the temples of his forehead. "Laura, we've worked together for five years and I call you by your first name," he reminded her. "You don't have to call me 'Mr. Jacobs' like the kids do. At least call me Davey or something," he mumbled, exhausted.

Laura hummed. "Maybe." She hung up.

Davey leaned back in his seat. He looked up at the door when it opened.

A head poked into the room. "I bring lunch."

Davey smiled slightly, closing his eyes. "I should've known," he muttered.

Jack chuckled and entered the room. He closed the door and set down the bag he brought on the table, walking over to Davey. He brushed Davey's hair off of his forehead and pressed a gentle kiss to it. "You seem exhausted," Jack mumbled against his skin, closing his eyes in contentment.

Davey blushed a bit. "Hello to you too, Jackie," he mumbled.

Jack chuckled. He pulled over a chair and sat down next to Davey.

Davey opened his eyes. "So... why are you here?" he asked him, watching Jack pull food out of the bag he brought. "You usually warn me when you're dropping by."

Jack shrugged, handing Davey his food. "Because I figured you could use a small break," he answered simply. "And I love you and you love me." He grinned at Davey.

Davey blushed. He sat up, nodding as he took his food. "True, true," he mumbled.

Jack watched him for a moment as he started to open his food.

Davey looked back at him. "What?"

Jack shook his head. "Nothing." He brushed it off. "Ain't a husband allowed to admire his love?" he questioned with a grin.

Davey blushed. He took a bite of his food. "Yeah," he mumbled, his mouth full.

Jack chuckled, starting to open his food. "Your mother taught you better," he commented.

Davey rolled his eyes, using a napkin to wipe his mouth. "You're scolding me?" he questioned.

Jack chuckled. "Fair point." He took a bite of his food.

Davey looked at him. "So, why did you come?" he asked him, pushing the food around with his fork. "Not that I don't enjoy your company, but, as I said before, you usually warn me before dropping by."

Jack blushed a bit, wiping his mouth.

Davey rolled his eyes at him and handed him a napkin.

Jack thanked him and wiped his mouth with the napkin. He folded it and looked back at Davey, his lips pursed. "It didn't have something to do with Crutchie's daily message..." he trailed off.

Davey's eyebrows furrowed; he didn't remember seeing Crutchie's daily message today. He pulled out his phone and opened it.

Sure enough, the sunshine boy had sent a message - per usual - and Davey had missed it.

Davey opened the message.

From Charlie to Group

Charlie: Have a fabulous day, my fabulous friends! Remember to smile and tell someone you love that you're grateful for them! Spend some extra time with your partner today as well! Love you all!

Davey smiled slightly, turning off his phone. His smile only grew at the satisfy click his phone made when he turned it off.

He really liked that sound.

Jack made fun of him - and Race and JoJo (less JoJo though, cause he's a bean) - for that, but he really liked it.

Davey looked back at Jack, setting his phone down. "I didn't see that until today," he said.

Jack nodded. "Cructhie has a certain ringtone on my phone, so I rush to it whenever I hear that ringtone," he reminded him.

Davey chuckled, taking a sip of his drink. ""Keep Your Head Up" by Andy G or whatever his name is, right?" he asked knowingly.

Jack chuckled. "Yes."

Davey knew Jack did this.

Jack didn't have separate ringtones for everyone, but he had it for Crutchie, Davey, and Race. His one for Medda was slightly different from the Newsies', but not by much.

The two boys talked for a little while they are their food, just enjoying each other's company and a break for the stress that constantly took over them at work.

(*cough* *cough* Davey especially *cough* *cough*)

Davey looked at his phone after a while, seeing that he should probably get back to work. He cleared his throat and sat up straight again. "I gotta get back to work," he decided out loud.

Jack frowned.

Davey looked at him. "Thank you for this. I really appreciate it and I love spending time with you," he told him, smiling as he set his hand on Jack's.

Jack smiled slightly. "Of course. I needed to see you."

Davey nodded. "Me too," he admitted quietly. He looked back at his stuff. "You should probably head back to work now," he stated.

Jack pouted. "Are you trying to get rid of me?" he asked, looking heartbroken.

And here come the dramatics- Davey rolled his eyes fondly, squeezing Jack's hand. "Jackie, I love you, but we have to make money," he reminded him. "You can't do that if you lose your job."

Jack pouted, using his puppy eyes. "I can spare a little more time," he told him, slowly moving closer to Davey.

Davey tried not to blush as Jack slowly moved closer, Jack's hand traveling up his arm.

Jack stuck his bottom lip out, staring into Davey's eyes. "Can I stay for a little bit longer, please?" he asked, his voice soft.

Davey swallowed, trying to will his cheeks not to turn red.

"Oh, hey," Jack's eyes traveled to Davey's lips, "your lips look really kissable right about now," he mumbled.

Davey's cheeks burned. "Dear God, Jack Kelly," he groaned softly, "one kiss and then you go to your work," he told him sternly.

Jack nodded. He cupped Davey's cheeks and pulled him in for a kiss.

The two boys (or men now) pulled away after a moment, but Jack's lips still lingered on Davey a little longer.

Davey swallowed, hating himself for not wanting Jack to leave him and for him just wanting to kiss him more.

Jack smiled, knowing what Davey was feeling. He gently rubbed circles into Davey's right cheek with his thumb.

Davey leaned into the touch, closing his eyes and leaning in to kiss him again.

Suddenly, the phone rang. Laura's voice came through the speaker. "Mr. Jacobs, Carter is here to see you," she informed him.

Davey jumped almost five feet in the air, his eyes wide.

Jack covered his mouth as he tried not to laugh.

Davey's cheeks reddened. He quickly composed himself and fixed his shirt. He looked at Jack, seeming panicked. "You need to go- or hide! Just do something," he whispered hastily.

Jack quickly grabbed the food and hid in the closet.

The door opened, revealing Carter standing on the other side of it.

Davey cleared his throat, sitting back down at his desk. "Come on in, Carter." He gestured to the seat in front of him.

Carter nodded. He shut the door and sat down. "I think I messed up..." he mumbled, scratching the top of his head.

Davey smiled internally. He, thankfully, did not have very many "bad" kids, just kids who needed a bit of help and redirecting. They usually knew when they did something wrong. "Do you mind telling me what happened?" Davey asked him.

Carter nodded.

A bit later

Davey smiled and waved to Carter as he left the room. They had made a plan for Carter to fix the mistakes he made and grow from it.

All was well.

Jack came stumbling out of the closet.

Davey's eyes widened and he quickly realized Jack had been in there.

Jack chuckled as he set the food down again. "Never thought I'd have to go back into the closet," he commented.

Davey rolled his eyes fondly, getting up. He grabbed Jack by the collar of his shirt. "Shut up and kiss me, you butthead," he muttered.

Jack gladly obliged.
