Third Person POV
A/N, this was requested by thesheepsheadraces so thank you for the request!
For anyone who doesn't remember, Caleb is Race's oldest brother (the older Higgins twin) in Side-by-Side and Arrow is the leader of Harlem in SBS. Some people thought this ship was really cute. Enjoy!
Caleb stepped back slightly, but didn't let his fear show on his face.
The boy in front of him smirks, holding the knife in his hand. "You don't want your brothers to get hurt, do you, Caleb?" He taunts him.
Caleb scowls. "Don't you dare touch my brothers," he growls out. "And don't call me that," he adds. "My name is Bullet to you."
The second boy rolls his eyes. "My name is Bullet to you," he mocks.
Caleb grits his teeth. He looks over at his blade that was on the ground at the other end of the alleyway.
Carson had always been better with blades, earning him his Newsie name. Caleb had better aim.
The three Higgins brothers had the same type of switchblade, though each of theirs had something corresponding to them carved into the end of it.
Race had a pack of cards. The number three was on the card that was poking out from behind the deck.
Carson had a mini blade with the number two behind it. Two was his favorite number.
Caleb had a gun shooting out the number one.
Caleb grits his teeth. If only I hadn't lost the blade, he silently curses himself.
The first boy steps towards Caleb.
Caleb puts his fists up. He wasn't going to go down without a fight.
"Just come quietly," the first boy tells him, holding the knife pointed at Caleb as he slowly steps forward. "And you'll get less hurt."
Caleb opens his mouth to speak, but his eyes suddenly caught on something flying towards him.
The rock hit the first boy in the head, causing him to cry out in pain.
The two unknown boys whip around.
Caleb couldn't see who was at the entrance of the alley since the two boys were blocking his view, but as soon as they started speaking, he realized who it was.
"Step away from him, drop your weapons, and leave this alleyway, only then will you not get hurt."
Caleb felt relief flood through him as he relaxed slightly.
Of course, he never liked it when Arrow saved him because of all the 'you're far too pretty to be getting into fights' and 'I'm your night in shining armor' teasing stuff, but he was grateful for him nonetheless.
Upon seeing that they couldn't beat both Caleb and Arrow, the two boys quickly dropped their weapons.
Caleb watched them go, before looking at Arrow.
The two boys' eyes met.
Arrow smirks. "I thought you were a better fighter than that, love," he teases him.
Caleb rolls his eyes, walking over to his blade and picking it up. "Stai zitto, Tyler." He grumbles, wiping off his blade.
Arrow chuckles as he walks over to him.
Caleb paid him no mind as he finished cleaning off his blade with his shirt and flipped it close. He slipped it in his pocket.
Arrow pins Caleb to the wall.
Caleb's eyes widen. His cheeks redden when he suddenly realizes how close they are.
"Be careful, sweetheart," Arrow stares down at him.
Oh how Caleb really hated the fact that he, like his brothers, had gotten genes to be short. He also wondered how the heck Arrow was so tall.
"These streets are dangerous." Arrow smirks.
A memory popped up in Caleb's mind from the first time they had met.
"You didn't bring any backup, boys?" Arrow questions, smirking a bit. His arms were crossed.
Caleb rolls his eyes. "We're capable enough of taking care of ourselves," he responds.
Arrow steps forward, his face less than two centimeters away from Caleb's.
Caleb could feel his hot breath on his cheek, as he spoke. "Oh yeah. And what if I tried to kidnap you right now?" He could picture the smirk on Arrow's face.
"Buddy," Carson starts, pushing Arrow away from his blushing brother. "I don't know if you're joking or serious, but we do have weapons on us." He gestures to his pockets.
Arrow chuckles. "Probably a good thing," he steps back so Carson wouldn't find him threatening. "These streets are dangerous."
Caleb rolls his eyes. "We've figured that out. Thanks, mate." He mutters.
Caleb stares up into Arrow's eyes, the same intensity in his gaze as he had the first day they met. "I've figured that out. Thanks, mate." He mutters.
Arrow chuckles, stepping back a bit and carefully taking Arrow's hand in his own. "Why don't you come to my Lodge tonight?" He suggests.
Caleb shakes his head. "Carse will get worried."
Arrow looks at him. "I can send a Newsie to go tell them," he reminds him. "I know Fal's been itching to see May. He'll take any chance he can get to see him."
Caleb smirks at him. "That was a big word for you," he comments. "One I don't know the meaning of..." he adds, his level voice at a mumble.
Arrow chuckles. "Really wants to see him," he informs him.
Caleb nods. "I figured; Fallon always wants to see May." He states.
"So?" Arrow asks.
Caleb bites his lip, looking around the area they were in. "Are we even in Queens anymore?" He asks.
Arrow shakes his head. "You were in an alleyway in upper Midtown," he informs him.
Caleb nods, taking in this information.
The two boys were silent for a few minutes, before Caleb sighs. "Yeah, sure, certo. Grazie."
Arrow chuckles.
The two boys start walking to Harlem.
At the Harlem Lodge
Arrow opens the door to the lodge, causing most of the people in the room to look at them.
Unbothered, Caleb stood next to him.
Some of Arrow's Newsies looked smug and none of them were surprised to see Caleb.
A Newsie with bright red hair steps forward. "Caleb." He spits in his hand.
Caleb bows his head for a moment. "Fallon." He also spits in his hand.
The two boys spit-shake.
"We have a job for you," the oldest Higgins brother informs the redheaded boy.
Fallon looks up from the floor and at Caleb, raising an eyebrow.
"Go inform my brother that I'm in Harlem for the night," Caleb instructs him. "Stay in Queens with your boyfriend overnight." He states.
Fallon nods, his face emotionless. His eyes, however, told a completely different story. There was a spark in them and Caleb could see the excitement that the knowledge that he'd see his boyfriend had sparked.
Fallon nods to Arrow and Caleb, before grabbing his hat and an extra flannel and leaving.
Arrow turns towards Caleb, cupping his cheeks and lifting his head. He stares into the younger boy's eyes. "Why don't you head up to my room?" He suggests.
Caleb nods.
Arrow kisses his forehead, before letting go of him.
Caleb blushes. He quickly turns away and starts walking to Arrow's room, waving to a few of the Harlem Newsies he knew as he walked.
About ten minutes later
Arrow opens the door to his room. He looks down, finding Caleb's worn-out shoes neatly against the wall next to the door.
Arrow smiles. Caleb knew his preferences for keeping his room neat and followed them. That made him really happy.
Arrow takes his shoes off and places them next to Caleb's.
He looks at Caleb's shoes one last time. I'll have to work with Haste to get the twins new shoes for their birthday, Arrow thinks to himself.
Arrow looks up, spotting his boyfriend on his bed.
The younger boy was sitting with his legs up and his back against the wall, looking to be thinking.
Caleb had grabbed a flannel that Arrow kept in a specific drawer for him. It was one of Arrow's favorite flannels that he let Caleb wear.
Arrow takes his suspenders, hat, socks, belt, vest, and flannel off. That left him in his pants and undershirt.
Arrow sits down on the bed next to Caleb. "You okay?" He asks him.
Caleb looks over at him. "Yeah." He sounded hesitant.
Arrow gently sets his hand on top of Caleb's. "I can see it in your eyes that you're thinking," he tells him. "What's troubling you?" He asks.
Caleb sighs, looking over at him, though not at his face. "Just thinking about what happened earlier," he admits. "It's like they don't care that I'm a leader; they just have a mission and I don't know what it is." Caleb mutters.
Arrow lifts Caleb's head to look into his eyes. "We're gonna figure this out," he assures him, squeezing his hand. "I'll talk to Jack and Spot in the morning."
Caleb frowns. "But then Toni and Carse will get worried about me," he mumbles.
The Higgins siblings checked each other over really intensely when they find out one was almost hurt or hurt. They were very protective.
Caleb did it, too. However, that didn't mean he liked being babied any less than his brothers.
Arrow chuckles lightly. "And maybe that's okay," he responds. "It means they care."
Caleb shrugs.
"Cuddles?"
Caleb looks up at Arrow, a smile on his face. "You know me far too well," he states.
Arrow chuckles. "You and your brothers all like cuddles; it's common knowledge, especially among boyfriends." He tells him.
Caleb shrugs, laying down on the bed. He lays on the inside of the bed, the way Arrow liked it.
Arrow liked schedules and for things to be the same way at most points.
He knew it couldn't be the same way all of the time, but when it could be, he made it the same way.
Arrow smiles, laying down next to Caleb and wrapping his arms around him.
Caleb relaxed against him after a few minutes and after Arrow hummed him a song, he was asleep.
Arrow smiles, brushing a piece of Caleb's dirty-blonde hair out of his face. "I love you, baby," he whispers, pressing a soft kiss to his forehead.
Sleeping Caleb relaxed into Arrow ever-so-slightly more, looking content.
Arrow fell asleep a few minutes later. (A/N, and now I'm going to do the same, after I post this lol.)

Sorry if it's bad.
I can't tell if I think it's cute or not. It gives me a certain feeling that it's bad at points, and yet at other points, it gives me the good feeling.
I went more into Arrow's personality and what he's like in this, too. Idk, it's okay.
