She felt around as all of her friend back away, "You let him drown." She whispered.
"Ashlie, this is just an affect, it's okay, listen." Nick stood up slowly.
"I need you to understand--" Uni started but Tommy clamped a hand over his mouth.
"UNDERSTAND?!" She screamed, "GUESS WHAT THE HELL I WAS YELLING AS YOU LET DOMMY DROWNED, UNDERSTAND." Her eyes flickered from a brown to red.
She felt around for a weapon, anything that could cause pain.
"He's dead, and we can't take it back." Tommy was shaking but stood up, Jon pulling Nick down. "But Ashlie, we just thought-" "You never think." Her hand curled around the knife.
"Yes I do!" Tommy exclaimed, "I would never use a person, I would lie all the time, but when it came to something serious, I would always tell you the truth!"
"Tell me you care about me." She held the hand to her heart. "Make me see what you did was for a reason."
Tommy let out a chuckle, "Seriously?"
She pushed the knife into her chest, deeper, but not fully.
A trail of blood right between her ribs.
Tommy gasped, "I-I care about you!" He exclaimed, blinking away tears, she stared him right in the eyes.
But alas,
Tommy looked away.
Like he always does,
When he lies.
"I knew it," She let the knife drop.
Dawn let out a sigh of relief, thinking she believed him.
Blood escaped the wound and down the dress, turning it a deep red. "She's not, dead?" Uni whispered to Nick.
"There was nothing to kill," Nick swallowed a sob.
"Without you, I'm nothing." Ashlie smiled at Dommy the fourth meeting they had, "If it took us trying to kill each other, I'm kinda happy it did." Dommy chuckled. "Hey," Ashlie held his hand.
"I don't know how I lived without you." Ashlie chuckled, "I know right, without you, I noticed a lot less, I barely even paid attention. But now, everything seems... brighter. Not just a blank slate of red, I can actually... see." Dommy released his hand and kissed her cheek.
"It's late, you have to go." He said sadly, "Walk me?" Ashlie emitted the courage to ask.
"We'll get caught."
"Why? Why would he row me here?" She was shaking, "I-I want to see him, why, why can't I?" She begged, trying to figure out a solution.
Tears flooded from her eyes, "Ashlie..." Tommy reached out.
"Don't touch me! Y-you of all people, don't touch me! You liar." Her heart shattering, memories flooding into her mind.
"Would you happier if you told them?" Dommy asked, the seventh night they met.
"I mean, yeah, but they'd never let us stay, you know that, right?" "I know," Dommy frowned. "Duni would love you though," Dommy chuckled. "Duni would probably walk me to these dates, he and Don would be cheering me on most likely."
"Is there a bad version of me?" Ashlie smiled, "There could be no bad version of you, you're one-of-a-kind, beautiful, and no remotely rude bone in your body." Dommy kept his back at the tree as Ashlie slid her head in his lap.
Dommy played with her hair, messing up the braid he was trying to do, over and over again. "Oh shoot-" He mumbled and immediately apologized. "Don't apologize, this is the best my hair has been." Ashlie giggled and played with the loose strands of her, keeping her back in the grass.
"I don't even have to see it, knowing you did it means it's great."
"No..." She whispered, "H-He was just, he was just trying to keep me happy." A sad smile spread across her face.
"He just, cared." She collapsed on the ground, her knees giving out.
She cupped her palms to her eyes, sobbing her heart out on the floor.
"And he told me of all of these wonderful things of the doppelgangers, how they'd care for me and take me in as one of their own."
"Dres would treat you like a little sister, Don would be that little cute brother, DDawn would always help you even if he doesn't know emotion that well, Duni would be that gay uncle that everyone loves at dinner parties. They really wanna meet you," Dommy smiled.
"Come over sometime, we could have you live with us. I know you guys don't really treat each other well there." Dommy wrapped his arms around her as they stared at constellations and Ashlie laid on top of him. "I want to live with you guys, but do you know how much trouble I'd be in?" Ashlie felt his thumbs rub circles on her stomach.
"I want you to be happy so much," Dommy mumbled to himself.
"Even if it means hurting you for a bit."
She let out a scream, realizing what he meant that night.
He did everything on purpose,
So she could live a happier life.
"You... you killed him before he died." Dashlie backed up, looking for an exit.
"You, you're the bad guys." Dashlie managed, "And you're the real clones." She whispered.
"So many years of being nice, taking your guys' shit." Dashlie moved out of the kitchen, into the hall.
"So patient, I sacrificed so much." Dashlie felt her back rest on the door, feeling for the handle. "Ashlie..." Nick followed her.
"DASHLIE!" She screamed, turning the handle and running, running to the boat, grabbing the floating coat in the river that was barely floating.
She knew where the house was.
Duni groaned, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes and walking down the stairs lazily. "Dommy? Are you home-" Duni opened the door to be met with a shivering Dashlie.
"He did it, didn't he?" Duni whispered.
Dashlie sadly nodded, "I-I'm so sorry." Duni hugged her.
"Here, you can stay in his room." Duni held her hand and lead her upstairs, "We'll hold a ceremony in a couple of days, get situated, we can always go out, find supplies, you can use one of his shirts if that's fine." Duni gave her another hug.
Walking back into his room, Dommy sat there, shivering.
"Is she okay?"
"She's okay," Duni smiled.
"Do I tell her yet?"
"Give her time, we'll tell her we faked it all later. For now, stay in my room, I'll bring you food and water, don't worry."
We faked it,
All.
