Tommy felt the bullet enter his chest and staggered to the ground, he felt his breath shorten and blood flow from his mouth. "Mr. Laurens! Can you hear me?" Tommy could hear the doctor, barely.
He blinked a couple of times before shutting his eyes.
"I may not live to see our Glory,"
"Unixander, there's a letter for you from South Carolina." Ashlie stood in the Hall as Uni cradled Philip in his arms.
"But I will gladly join the fight," Tommy smiled sadly as his corpse was carried off the field.
"It's from Tommy Laurens, I'll read it later." Uni smiled, thinking about what the letter would say. "No... not it's not," Ashlie whispered.
"And when our children tell our story..." Tommy glanced at another vision in the clouds, seeing Philip and Theodosia.
"Will you read it?" Uni asked, his voice laced with concern.
"They'll tell the story of, Tonight." Tommy smiled down at Theodosia and Philip. The two smiling back in their sleep.
Ashlie cleared her throat, afraid of the letter.
"On Tuesday, the twenty-seventh, Lieutenant Colonel John Laurens was killed in a gunfight against British troops in South Carolina." Uni gasped as Ashlie swallowed, continuing on with the letter.
" These troops had not yet received word from Yorktown that the war was over. He's buried here until his family can send for his remains. As you may know, Lieutenant Colonel Laurens was engaged in recruiting three-thousand men for the first all-black military regiment." Ashlie let tears slip from her eyes. Unixander let a small smile escape his grasp, proud of his best-friends' work.
"The surviving members of the regiment have been returned to their masters." Ashlie finished, looking up at Unixander.
"Tomorrow there'll be more of us..." Tommy felt his figure fading and saw one last frame.
Unixander crying silently as Ashlie Schuyler stood at the Hall of Philip's room.
"Unixander, are you alright?" Ashlie asked, slowly going up to him.
Unixander waited, tears flowing down his face.
"...I have so much work to do." He stood, shaking and passing Ashlie without a second look.
