Zreshlie - Lucky Ones
Ashlie's POV
A lot of things happened that day.
Everyone I loved,
They left.
Every thing I loved,
they got destroyed.
It was happening again. I was having the flashback. The flashback of the day that my whole world changed.
Forever.
Hey,
Times they are a-changin'
Sometimes it's too late to stop the flames,
After the world goes up in smoke.
"Nick?!" I yelled, coughing.
"Ashlie!" Tommy's voice rang from afar. "T-Tommy!" I yelled, making my way over the rubble. "Oh my god Tommy." I said, coughing blood.
"Ashlie," Tommy began.
"Yes, Tommy?" I ask him.
"If you survive, and find the others-" he coughed. "Tell them they were the best friends anyone could ask for." He finished.
"What?" I ask.
"Everyone has a time, Ashlie. My time is now." He said, weakly, tears forming in both of our eyes. He slowly laid down.
I was sobbing.
"Tommy.. no!" I yelled. "Goodbye, Ashlie." He said
Ruins standing lonely,
Relics we call home once now a grave.
That grows and grows.
That grows and grows.
I walked in the doorframe, looking around. The smell of smoke still lingering. Leaves scattered the floor, the wallpaper ripped. Burnt pieces of wood all over the place.
I walked down the corridor and turned my head to the left.
I walked down the hallways that was almost demolished. I looked inside amd saw my little brothers old room. His crib still there.
I walked up next to it and looked at the toys inside.
It was the day,
day that we refused to die.
When the fire changed,
changed the colors of our skies.
I stood up and took one last glimpse at Tommy's body.
"Bye Tommy." I said, my voice cracking.
"Jon. Please." I heard a voice say. "I- I can't." Someone replied.
"Uni! J-Jon!" I yelled, trying to make my way over to them. "Ashlie?" Uni yelled. "It's me!' I said back to them.
"Ashlie, don't come closer." Uni threatened. "Why?" I ask, coughing again.
I then looked up to see Jon incased in a circle of fire, and Uni on the other side.
"I'm sorry." Jon said.
Then, he fell into the fire. I shrieked. "JON!" I yelled, sobbing desperatly. Uni clutched his side.
"I believe it's time for my to join him." Uni said. He smiled weakly and shed a tear. "Uni do-" I began, he fall back. His screamed echoed but then went quiet.
"No." I said.
We remember,
All the loved ones that it burned.
They were the lucky ones,
Cause' the fallout will be worse,
hey.
I walked out of the house and looked around.
I started down the street and went up a hill.
This hill-
This was the hill.
"Cory, Dawn, please, you're the only two I have left." I cried.
"Ashlie, Dawn is burnt so bad, there's no way in hell he'll be able to life another day." Cory coughed. "And I already have cancer. We need to go to a better place." Cory said to me.
"You just want to commit suicide, you're just like Jon and Uni!" I yelled.
"WELL THEY'RE DEAD, SO I GUESS IF WERE LIKE THEM, WE SHOULD BE DEAD TOO!" Cory yelled. He grabbed Dawn's hand and jumped.
I finished my way up and hill and sat on the edge.
I looked at my arm and saw the large scar there.
Endurance being tested,
Found now place to rest so give me strength.
To push forward through this desolate track.
"Hey." A voice says from behind me. "Nick." I pause. "Were you following me?" I smirk. "No.." He says, suspiciously. He comes next to me and sits beside me.
I glance off into the distance and remember the only good thing that happened that day.
"Nick." I say out of breath.
"Please, God, please. Everyone's gone, just give me one person." I pray. I hear a large rock hid something.
"Nick?" I ask hopefully.
"A-Ashlie?" a voice replies. "Nick!" I yell. I slide down a few rocks and land next to a shed. "Oh m- Nick. They- they all left, they all left me." I sob.
He hugs me. "We'll get through this together. I won't leave you unless I have no other choice." He says.
"Nick?" I ask him. "Yes?" He says.
"I- uh. I never thanked you for staying by me in the fire." I say.
He smiles.
Companion at my side,
My family just like mankind now in shreds.
Locked in a vault.
No going back.
"You're welcome." He replies. "Do you think they're up there?" I ask. "Who?" He asks me, looking at my face. "The group." I say, staring up.
A leave brushed my hand and I looked down at it.
Then, I looked up. Tommy.
"Tommy!" I smile. I stand up and hug him. Wait, I can hug him? "Tommy.. why can I hug you? I ask. "I used my pass." He says.
"Pass?" I ask.
"Yeah, I can come back for a certain amount of time as a spirit that you can touch." He smiles.
Tears rush down my face and look up again. "Where are they?" I ask. "They never ended up where I did." He says, weakly.
"Oh." Is all I can say.
"Bye, Ash." He says.
"Bye, Tommy." I say back. "Nick, let's go." I say. "Where to?" he asks. "The graveyard." I reply blandly. "Why..?" He questions but I look continue walking.
It was the day,
day that we refused to die.
When the fire changed,
changed the colors of our skies.
We remember, all the loved ones that it burned.
They were the lucky ones.
I get to the graveyard and sit down.
"Hey guys." I say, looking at the five graves side by side to eachother. "How's it been?" I ask.
I large gust of wind blows in my face and I chuckle. "Yeah. Hope you're happy.. where ever you are." I say. Nick sits next to me.
He puts his arm around my waist and I lay my head on his shoulder.
"Atleast we have eachother." I smile.
"Yeah." He says back.
