Chapter 12 The Fix Part 3

Aaliyah is sitting alone in her own private room. Breathing heavily in anger and glaring at the wall with hatred. She managed to get an update on Earthland from Magnus saying Twilight Ogre is harassing Fairy Tail and forcing them to pay the money. Magnus gave them money to harass her guildmates and lied twice about their usual payment. Her once strongest guild became weak and the numbers of members are decreasing. Some members are still staying loyal and the new master, Macao Conbolt, is keeping the loyal guildmates stayed stronger.

"Just a little longer and we'll save them." She whispered in a hushed tone and lay down on the bed. "Everything will be over... Dragon Slayer Secret Art Technique: Reminisce of memories." Closing her eyes to help them fix Kaldur's mind.

Aaliyah gasps to see the ruins of Atlantean. She's looking at her surroundings to find them. "Where could they be?"

"Aaliyah!" The female archer sighs in relief to see her. "I'm so glad you're here. M'gann still blames herself and thinks it's all real."

"This is real but whatever the illusions you're seeing and preventing someone to fix mind... it would take a long process to mend them." Aaliyah explained calmly. "M'gann is the one who did it but it cannot be undone the pasts. Her mind isn't strong enough and taking the hit for real."

"What are we going to do!?" She groaned and looked at Aaliyah worriedly. "He can't stay like this forever. We're going to get killed if they found out-"

"They won't." Aaliyah assured her with a smile. "That's why I'm here for, right? Right now, I need to lie that I gave him my magic and use a spell to heal."

Artemis pursed her lips hoping this girl would reveal the truth. But she couldn't after seeing Magnus's attitude and behavior, Magnus is the most dangerous mage. Aaliyah is being careful of her actions and the less she revealed the better. "I hope you know what you're doing, Aaliyah. You don't know how devasted he is and blaming himself for not saving you on that day."

"I know..." She smiles tightly and holds her tears. "That's why all will be revealed soon." Aaliyah never intended to hurt their feelings including Kaldur. Kaldur meant everything to her and she wanted to finish the mission.

The female archer nodded her head in understanding. "What now?"

"We must find Kaldur so the illusion will disappeared." Aaliyah answered trying to sense Kaldur. "Who did you see?"

"You." She immediately answered and the blonde mage glanced at her. "Your illusion attack us well... at M'gann and taking the hit for real." Artemis can tell she's masking her emotions again.

"We need to act now and fasts." They swim faster to see Kaldur is turning his back behind them. "Kaldur?" Aaliyah placed her hands on his shoulder. Turning his body from them and they gasp in shock. His face is completely gone. "Kaldur?"

"Aaliyah?" Kaldur whispered his lover's name. "She's in a coma and I can't see her anymore." He speaks Atlantian and no one understands him.

"I knew I should have paid more attention in my freshman Atlantean class." Artemis groaned and approach them. "Kaldur, listen. It's Artemis. M'gann, Aaliyah and I are here to make you better."

"Artemis? Aaliyah? I am alone." A black hole appeared behind Kaldur. "There is no one here." The building is starting to crack. "Nothing... ruins."

"That's not true!" Aaliyah yelled and grasping his hands. "My love, please listen to my voice. You're not alone and we care about you. Please, together?" She cried. "You promise not to leave my side. How am I supposed to live without my Kaldur? They need you. I need you."

The black hole disappeared as his face started to appear. "Aaliyah? My Aaliyah?" He whispered cupping her face with his web hands.

"Yes, it's her, Kaldur." Artemis answered with a relief look on her face. "She's here."

"Yeah, right now... M'gann needs us." Aaliyah reminded the female archer as both females carried Kaldur.

"Aaliyah?" Kaldur called out her name again. He lost some of his memories but slowly regaining when it involved her.

"Yeah." She smiles softly. "I used my secret technique to help you regain the memories." Aaliyah explained her spell.

"Why can't you just do it?" Artemis asked curiously after all the trouble they caused, Aaliyah has the ability to fix people's minds.

"I would but Magnus would've sensed my magic if I fix his mind completely for long." Aaliyah answered with a grim look on his face. "He's getting impatient to find my body and I need to stay low. You saw how powerful Magnus and in my current state... I'm not ready to face him."

She frowned and pursed her lips. They all know Aaliyah is the strongest mage in their Team. She's looking for an opportunity to take Magnus down at the right time. "There!" Artemis found M'gann and looking defeated to accept her faith.

"Do it. Finish it. That's what I deserve." M'gann murmured sadly.

"You're wrong and that's not the M'gann I know." Aaliyah said it out loud destroying her illusion self.

The females dragged Kaldur and stands in front of M'gann. Artemis offered her hand to pull the Martian girl up. "You want to blame yourself? Fine, but only if you're willing to do something about it." The female archer lectured her.

"Aaliyah?" M'gann looks surprised to see the blonde mage in front of her. "Yo-you're here? Ho-ho-how?"

"Ever since I started dating Kaldur, I pour some of my magic in him." Aaliyah lied and smiled softly at her. "When he lost his pathway, someone will be there to help him. To appear in his mind in order to activate my magic. My magic is short and I can't fix him."

"Can I actually do it?" She whispered and tore up. "What if Eris is right about me?"

"No, you're not a killer." Aaliyah shook her head. "Yes, you make a mistake. We all are and no one is perfect. What if we did wrong? At least we redeemed ourselves by fixing our actions. Trust me, Kaldur didn't blame you for your actions."

M'gann silently cried and held Kaldur's hand. "Kaldur, I am sorry. Please, let me help you."

"Help? No." Kaldur shook his head. He only has Aaliyah's memories but the rests are completely empty. "Ruins... all ruins... Aaliyah."

"But it doesn't have to be ruins. We can fix things." M'gann assured them.

"Symbiosi. Together." Artemis spoke softly as M'gann lead Kaldur to fix his mind again.

Aaliyah smiles softly and looks at Artemis. "I can't stay here for long before Magnus needs me. Thank you."

"No, thank you." Artemis shook her head. "I'm starting to panic without your help. You help us despite your alter ego hurts M'gann or the others."

"It's the only way to gain his trusts." She exhales softly and grips her hands. "I'm not pleased of my actions to hurt them even their mental state. Sometimes... I'm starting to fall apart slowly because of the actions I committed."

Artemis wipes her tear. "You're not. You're still our Aaliyah. Even if we pretend to be the bad guys... we're still here to stand by your side."

"Sometimes I don't deserve this kindness..." Aaliyah is starting to fade slowly. "I have to go... we will be free someday."

"We will."

Gotham City || Harmony of Arts and Musical Girls Academy April 10 12:30 EDT ||

"We promised it long ago." Zara finished the song and closed her notebook. "I feel like I didn't take this song wholeheartedly." Groaning and slamming her head on the wall.

Zara is all alone on the roof and writing the song for the upcoming new show. She's a singer and voice actor under the alias name of Morgana Benedict. To work and earn money as she can't rely on to ask Doctor Fate's money. She's an independent girl and prefers to earn herself money.

"So this is where you're hiding, Zara." Zara turned around to face Lydia.

Lydia and Zara are attending the same school at Harmony of Arts and Musical Girls Academy. One of the prestigious school here in Gotham. The successful rate of entering this school is 4% considering this school is an elite class. They are one of the scholarship students because Bruce Wayne sponsored them. Zara has a feeling either Dick or Arthur are asking Bruce to sponsor them.

"Hey, Lyds." She greeted Lydia weakly and groaned in annoyance. "Ugh, it won't work!"

"Won't work with that?" Lydia pointed at her music notes. "Zar, you're one of the best singers."

"I didn't sing it wholeheartedly unlike my previous song." She clutches her notebook tight. "I don't know why!"

"Maybe because you've been stressed for the last couple of days." Lydia suggested noticing her eyes are a bit dark due to lack of sleep.

Zara's grades from A or B turned into D for the past couple of days. She barely eats, sleeps and lacks focus. It's like her mind is jumbling from work, education and hero. She's beginning to lose weight and it worries them.

"I'm fine, Lydia." Zara assured the cream-haired girl and she didn't believe her. "I'm not stressed-"

"More like annoyed, cranky and biting someone's head off." Lydia smiles sarcastically. "I have to ensure you didn't get yourself in trouble by your sharp tongue."

Zara cringed and nearly got detention if it wasn't for Lydia. She's not one of those people who loved to get in trouble when it involved school. "I-"

"Look, Zara." Lydia held her hands. "You need to catch a break. When was the last time you slept?"

"Uhh... 2 days ago?" She said in a weak tone.

"Zara!"

"I know, I know!" She raised her hand in defense. "After everything what-"

"No excuses! Didn't Arthur tell you to take a rest?" Zara simply pursed her lips. She didn't mean to make everyone worried of her well-being. "Zara, everyone is worried about you. You're pale and I feel like you lose weight." Lydia is completely worried if she's going to continue doing it without catching a break.

Lydia isn't the only one who's worried, Tim and Jamie too because Zara is barely catching herself a break.

"I-" Her body is beginning to sway and seeing black dots in her sights. "Ly-"

"Woah!" Lydia immediately catches Zara before she could fall off the building. "Zara!" She hissed to feel her body is warm. "You're burning!" The cream-haired girl immediately carried Zara in her arms. "You're so much in big trouble, Zara."

Dick holds Zara's hand while stroking it. He received a call from Zara's school regarding her collapse and high temperature. They send Zara to the hospital straight away and called one of them which happened to be him. He knows Zara's behavior and the cause of her collapse.

"You really outdid it this time, Zara." He sighs heavily and strokes her hair. Ruby wouldn't able to come because their son has Doctor's appointment. Arthur, on the other hand, he's stuck in the exam which leads Dick to look after her.

"Dick?" He hums and turns around to face Tim. "How's Zara?"

"She's fine and not burning up as before." Dick answered with reassurance. "How did you know she's here, Tim?"

"Uhh... Lydia called me and explained everything..." Tim trailed off to see Dick smirking. "Come on, we're just friends!"

"Zara is my first child." Dick commented sarcastically and crossed his arms. "Tim, there's nothing wrong with liking someone. Take me and Ruby for example."

Tim looked away sadly. "I feel like Zara doesn't want to take any relationship. She only thinks of me as a friend. Heck, even Jaime has feelings for her." The new boy wonder wouldn't forget the way Jaime is looking at her.

Dick scratches his neck nervously. He also has insecurities before they were together until Dick confesses to her. Until now, Dick is a bit possessive to Ruby but he trusts her.

"She kinda reminds me of Aaliyah a bit." He chuckled in amusement and Tim simply looked confused. "The point is, give Zara time. She has a lot of plate in her mind."

"They're not biologically related, right? Zara and Aaliyah?" Tim asked Dick curiously.

"No." He chuckled in amusement and stared at her face. "Zara thinks of Aaliyah as her own mom and she always looked up on her."

They heard a groaning sound to see Zara is beginning to wake up. "Wh-where am I?" She asked weakly and about to sit up.

"Woah, there." Dick immediately helps Zara to sit up. "You're in the hospital, Zara."

"Here." Tim immediately holds a glass of water for Zara to drink.

Zara silently thank Tim and drank the water slowly. "What happened?" She asked after finishing her drink.

"You want a long version or short version?" Dick asked her sarcastically and she gives him a look. "You collapse because of overwork and a little bit of temperature. So, Zara... care to tell us why you're not looking after yourself? This is the first time you pull that stunt and you scared half of us to death."

"I..." Zara pursed her lips and didn't know where to begin with. "The crimes in Japan are getting high and I have a feeling it has something to do with them."

"The League of Assassins?" Dick couldn't help but ask curiously since he remembered they tried to recruit Aaliyah before.

"No, like Magnus for instance." They both froze to hear that name. "He knew about us whether it's our real name or alias. "

"How?" Zara raises her right eyebrow in Dick's direction. "Lust. Of course."

"I don't want to ask Ruby because she has Orion to look after and Arthur is busy." Dick gives her a glare. "I know, I know, I should've asked Lydia or the others. It's my country to protect them."

"Technically you were born in Edolas." Tim corrected her and Zara simply glares at him. "The point is, you don't have to be alone to take this job all by yourself."

"Let the press wonder why the foreign heroes are helping Luminous?" Zara asked sarcastically.

"Zara, there's nothing wrong to ask help." Dick reminded Zara and she simply pursed her lips. "What would Aaliyah say if she finds out about this? You're not looking after yourself."

"You can always lend your problem to us, Zar." Tim spoke up softly and held her hand. "I know that you're strong and even the strong ones need help."

Zara sighs heavily and slumped down on the bed. "You guys are a pain."

Dick chuckled in amusement. "Who is this Magnus guy anyway?"

"Don't know only heard his name from those guys." She shrugged her shoulders. "When am I going to get discharged?" Zara changed the subject.

"Tomorrow morning and you're grounded by the way." They turned around to see Arthur is leaning on the door. "For pushing yourself too hard and causes you to get sick."

"What!? You can't do that, Arthur!" Zara exclaimed and wouldn't accept being grounded. "I have a lot of things-"

"You can share responsibilities with others too." Arthur cuts her off calmly. "I called the manager and she'll give you two weeks off. That also included no patroling."

"What!? You can't do that, Arthur!" She yelled in anger and began to glow brightly. There's no way for Zara to leave the city unprotected.

"Deleas cigam." Arthur immediately put a temporarily sealed magic to Zara before she could cause some trouble. "I can and I will. Lydia and I will do your shifts okay? By the time your grounded is over, you two can look after the city."

"Are you sure letting them do it by themselves without an adult?" Tim asked worriedly.

"Zara is the first youngest hero and I trust her judgment." Arthur answered and smiled at Zara. "No more arguing with me and that's the final decision. Unless you want to add another week." He threatened Zara and she immediately closed her mouth in annoyance.

Dick didn't want to intervene between them because it was not in his place to punish Zara. After all, Zara is under the care of Arthur and it's his responsibility to look after her.
