Chapter 6

***Serena's POV

I reapply ice to my ankle as Jason orders Charizard to burn down the shelter. The fire cracks as it devours the wood.

"Good job Charizard." He says, patting Charizard's head.

"So, Jason, where are we going?" I ask.

"Kanto."

"Kanto? That's at least going to take us about a week. We gotta get going now!" I exclaim, getting up.

"Easy there Serena. I have a way that we can get there in just a few hours," Jason says as he grins.

I frown.

"That's not possible."

"Bet."

...

He helps me get on Charizard, then he gets on. He reaches into his pocket and pulls out a Pokeball.

"Umberon, come on out!"

The white light appears, swiftly forming into Umberon.

"Umberon!"

He shakes a little bit, his black fur shining in the light, then stares at us with his red eyes.

"Umberon, get on," Jason says, making room. Umberon easily gets on, and with a mighty flap of Charizard's wings, we are off into the sky once again.

We fly steadily for about five minutes.

I start getting impatient.

"Jason, I hope you have a better idea then this. No offense Charizard," I say, patting his back. Charizard grins at me, while Jason doesn't answer. I turn back, and I see Jason whisper to Umberon.

"Is everything ok?"

"Yeah, everything is great. We're ready."

"Ready for what?"

Jason then jumps on me, so my back is pressed against Charizard's back and I'm face to face with Jason.

"W-what in-"

"Umberon, use Teleport!"

I close my eyes shut, and I feel a strange pull in my stomach. Next thing I know I'm tumbling down and I hit the ground. Dirt ends up in my mouth.

"Ew!"

I open my eyes, and quickly get up, spitting out the dirt out of my mouth.

Charizard is standing next to me. He must've stood up straight, causing me to fall. Next to Charizard, is Jason kneeling over Umberon, who's on the ground, barely breathing.

"Oh no! Is he ok?" I yell, limping over. Umberon struggles to breath as he sweats up a storm. Jason slowly pets him.

"Jason, what happened? Why is he like this?" I ask, kneeling and touching Umberon's forehead. It's as hot as a Charizard's tail flame!

"You ambitious idiot. I clearly told you not to do it," Jason says softly, still slowly stroking Umberon's fur.

"Do what?" I ask, putting down my backpack and reaching for a water bottle.

"Teleport is usually a move for only Physic types since they have physic powers naturally. But my Umberon was able to learn one or two Physic type moves, and I needed a pokemon to learn Teleport, and he volunteered. The thing is, it takes a ridiculous toll on his body, so I asked him to teleport us about three hours away from our destination. Instead, we're about ten minutes away," he says, sighing.

"I should've never taught him it."

I stared at Jason as he explained, then I tried to offer Umberon some water but he didn't move at all.

"Umberon, thanks for being so brave and doing so much for us. Now, please, do us all a favor and focus on getting better," I say with a smile, before Jason returns him into his Pokeball.

"Where exactly are we going?" I ask, taking a look around. We're on a road in an open field, with the flowers dancing in the wind. Ahead of us lies a forest.

"Somewhere you may or may not recognize: Professor Oak's lab."

...

We arrive to Professor Oak's lab. It seems to be more a mixture between a mansion and a ranch. It sits dominantly on a small hill. We go up, and Jason walks in.

"Come on in."

I slowly follow, and I see papers, books, metal machines, and chemicals everywhere. I'm speechless. It's incredible.

"Hello there."

We turn and see an a small man in about his fifties, with white hair and in an lab coat. He greets me with a smile.

"You must be Serena," he says, offering his hand. I accept it in a handshake.

"How did you know?" I ask.

"Ash was talking about quite a storm about you. You are a lot prettier in person," he says.

I blush on the mention of Ash.

Ash. I hope he's ok.

The mention of Ash causes Jason to spring into the conversation.

"Professor, do you have somewhere Serena can go get cleaned up?"

"Ah yes, of course! Follow me," Professor Oak says, and he begins to walk into the house.

"Go ahead. We'll all talk afterwards," Jason reassures me, as he walks in the opposite direction.

Professor Oak leads me down a series of halls. We eventually stop in front of a brown door.

"You can wash up in there. There should be towels, soap, and anything else you might need in there already. I'll have Chansey come in to help with your injuries. Take all the time you need."

"Thanks a lot Professor Oak," I say, as I walk in.

I avoid looking in the mirror.

I don't want to remember what happened at Hoenn. I just need to get cleaned up, and get some answers.

I slowly get undressed and get into the shower. I scrub as hard as I can at my body. I grin as I see all the dirt, dried up blood, and anything else stuck to my body wash down the drain.

I dry off, and I look in my backpack to decide what to wear. I decide with comfortable clothes, with some black sweatpants and a pink t-shirt. Then clear up the mirror from any fog and look into it.

My eye is still a dark purple, but other than that the rest of my face looks normal. My hair is now a golden blonde, shining in the light.

I smile.

That's better.

Someone suddenly knocks on the door.

"Come in!"

As promised, Chansey slowly enter with a smile. Her pink fur looking so soft, I resist the urge to engulf her in a hug.

"Chansey!"

Chansey offers me the egg from her pouch.

"Are you sure?" I ask.

She nods.

I then reach for it, and I take a bite. I instantly feel refreshed again, and relaxed.

"Thank you so much!" I say, giving in and wrapping my arms around Chansey. She happily hugs me back.

I eventually let go, and I look in the mirror once again.

My eye is no longer purple!

I take a few steps, and don't feel any pain at all!

I smile.

Things are finally looking for the better.

As I gather my things, Chansey picks up my dress.

"What are you going to do with that?" I ask.

Chansey points at the trash can.

"Good idea."

I watch as Chansey moves over to it.

"No!"

Chansey jumps and squeals.

"Sorry. I uh, actually want to keep it instead." I blush.

Chansey glares at me, then puts it in a laundry basket instead.

"Thank you!" I yell, as she waddles her way down the hall.

I walk out into the hallway, and I look out a window. The moon illuminates the sky, its yellow hue beautifully presenting itself.

"Ash. I promise, I will do whatever it takes, to bring you back home safely." I say as I stare at the moon, who now is the only witness of my promise.

Author's Note:
I'm sure Umberon being able to use Teleport is not possible, but for the sake of the story I made it happen so please, just go with it for now. Please & thank you :)
Also, I went with this cover of "Talking to the Moon" because I thought the animation was cool and for some reason I couldn't use the orginal. Idk, both Wattpad & YouTube were being weird.
But as always, Happy Reading :)
