Chapter 2 Teams

Time marches on and Misa fit in well, she became well liked and respected, no one could fault her peaceful yet steel hard nature. She was understanding and it was obvious she was a superb fighter, her echolocation was formidable.

Soon the time came for teams to be announced.

"Listen up everyone. Naruto Uzamaki, Sakura Haruno, Sasuke Uchiha and Misa Otasaka. You will make a team of four." There were various reactions to this Naruto groaning, Sakura cheering and Misa face palming, a subtle smile hidden underneath her mask. Sasuke just maintained his look of boredom.

He did, grudgingly, feel a little better upon hearing Misa would be in his team. Sure he was stuck with Sakura, annoying girl, and Naruto, irritating pest, but Misa had struck a chord within him. She has once, secretly, subtly shared a few unforgettable words.

'Come on Sakura let's celebrate! We're together :)' Misa scribbled cheerfully.

"Sure lets go!"

'Hey Naruto do you want to come?'

"Heck yeah Misa! I'm definitely coming."

'Now you two be nice to each other, oh and Sasuke do you want to join?'

"Hn, no."

'Ok, bye.' She departed with Sakura and Naruto, standing in the middle of them as a weak attempt to stop them bickering.

As he watched her go her thought about the time that made him change his mind about Misa.

The new girl, Misa, sits herself opposite me. I scowl, what's she doing?

'It hurts when someone betrays you, doesn't it?' She writes. It takes a few moments for the message to sink in, when I realise what's she's referring to I shiver. I'm on the verge of storming away but she stops me.

'He was something of a hero to me. I looked up to him, strived to please him, he was my idol. In the end I realised that he had always carried ulterior motives, never really liked me. When he turned his back on me, left me in the dust, he hurt me beyond measure. I can't forgive him for it. When he showed his true colours, he was nothing other than a dirty traitor. And that hurt me very, very badly.
I had for a period of time an insatiable urge for revenge. It hurt, I had a hollow empty feeling, pain, loneliness, fear.  I just couldn't accept what had happened.' She stops writing. She rests her hands for a moment, allowing me to let her words wash over me. I was looking at a reflection of my own feelings, it was chilling to the core to see them splayed out right in front of me.

She flips the scroll over and continues, 'In the end I let it go. I clung onto the good memories and forgot the bad, what happened still haunts me but I'm safe where I am now. I feel at peace, I let the revenge go.'

I want to scowl at that, as if I could possibly let go of what Itachi did.

'If you ever want to talk, I'm here. If you don't, that's fine as well. But I've been told I'm very understanding, trust me. I hope you'll keep this a secret between us. Later Sasuke, thank you.'

Then she left, hair ruffled by the breeze. I couldn't see what her expression was but I imagined it to be soft and warm.

For the first time I felt like I had found someone like me, maybe even a friend.

Deep down, I think I have a soft spot for her.

"Hey Sasuke. Earth to Sasuke. You're spacing out", Kiba groaned while waving a hand across my face. I jumped slightly

'Hn.'

I walk back home, ambling amongst the trees I let the sounds of the world around me fill me. The location of my home is a bit of a secret, not even Naruto knows it.

I reach the lake. I take of my shoes and socks before focusing the chakra at the bottom of my feet. I step on the water, relishing in the feeling of it. I walk across until a reached a lump of stone. I twist it a little before lifting it up. It protruded a good way above the water so the water wouldn't flood it.

I jump into the tunnel hidden underneath the rock, sliding down before reaching step and climbing my way back up to the surface. Where I reached my little cottage.

It was surrounded by trees and flowers. I like to imagine this quiet and peaceful place would back the garden of Eden look plain. It was a beautiful place, surrounded by nature.

To the side of the cottage are two stone graves, engraved into them are the following words.

'Here my brave, beloved brother Sion lies in peace.'

Beside it was another grave.

'Here my beautiful and kind sister Nemare rests in peace.'

I sit in front of the graves, both are adorned with many lovely flowers. I let myself be submerged in the sound of the world. The rustling, chirping, shuffling.

This is the place I call home.
