Annabeth POV

"WAKE UP ANNABETH!" Marinette yelled, jumping on my makeshift bed.

"Hey!" I yelled, jumping up. "What's the big idea, my alarm hasn't gone off yet!"

"GET UP! SCHOOL STARTS IN 30 MINUTES!"

"WHAT?" I checked my phone for the time. 6:30. "Really Marinette? It starts in one HOUR and 30 minutes."

"It does?" Marinette asked, checking her phone, then giggled. "Oh, oops! I'm so used to being late to school that I guess actually being on time is still foreign to me."

"Wait, you're always late? Why?" I asked.

"Because I always wake up late, or get so invested in my work that I never notice the time."

"Well that is going to change. Get dressed."

Marinette flopped down in her desk chair. "But I have one hour until I have to worry!"

"Just get dressed." Then my phone started ringing. "I'll get dressed in a minute."

Marinette rolled her eyes as I answered the phone. "Hello friend from America." I responded.

"Hello friend that's in Paris!" Piper said on the other line. "What's up?"

"Nothing, I just got a rude awakening from my roommate." I said, sitting down.

"What's her name?"

"Marinette Dupain-Cheng."

"She seems nice, at least, from what I saw on the live stream last night."

"Yeah, Marinette is awesome. And so is the boy that Percy is staying with, Adrien Agreste."

"Yeah," Piper sighed on the other end. "Adrien sounds dreamy."

"Piper!" I said, trying to stop laughing. "You already have Jason!"

"I know, but you have to admit, he's hot."

"Remind me to never let you near French boys."

"Not gonna help. I speak their language."

"Then I'll gag you."

"Like you would do that to one of your best friends." Piper taunted.

I laughed. "At least I know your type."

"And that would be?"

"Blonde."

"Come on Annabeth, aren't you a little turned on by Adrien?"

"Not really. I mean, he has his charm, but he's not my type. Besides, from what I could see, Marinette has a little crush on him."

"Seriously?" Piper asked.

"Yeah. I think they would be adorable together." I said as Marinette looked down.

"You called?" She asked.

"I was just telling my friend about your tiny crush on Adrien."

Marinette turned red. "I don't have a crush on him!"

"Say that to the blush on your face." I retorted as Marinette went back up.

"Hm, Adrinette. I ship it." Piper said.

I chuckled and lowered my voice. "Piper, your inner Aphrodite is showing."

"Sorry!" Piper paused for a moment. "Okay, okay, I'm just finishing up. Look, I have to go. Leo and I are visiting Jason at Camp Jupiter, and Leo is starting to get annoyed with this phone call."

"It's okay." I said, rolling my eyes. "I have to go get dressed for school. Skype you and the rest of the seven tonight?"

"Yeah. Bye! Oh, and let me know if there are any Drew's there!"

"If I can, I'll send you a video." I smirked as I said that.

"You are the best." Piper said as I heard Leo in the background.

"You can call your girlfriend back tonight Piper, just get off of the effing phone already!"

I started chuckling. "Bye Piper, oh, and tell Leo to put ten bucks in the swear jar for me."

"Will do. Bye!"

I hung up the phone as I grabbed a T-Shirt that I was going to use in my Halloween costume, along with the matching jacket. I grabbed a pair of jeans and walked over to the bathroom where I quickly changed. I combed out my hair, put on a hat, and walked downstairs as I put on my boots.

"Morning Annabeth." Mrs. Dupain-Cheng said as I walked down.

"Morning." I said, then turned around. "Marinette! Hurry up! If you're not down here in two minutes I'm leaving for school without you!"

"But school is just across the street!" Marinette complained.

"So? I may be in a different country, but I'm not letting my perfect attendance be ruined because a girl who lives just across the street from her school is running late! So hurry up!"

Marinette came running down the stairs and kissed her mom on the cheek. Mrs. Dupain-Cheng smiled. "Thank you Annabeth."

I smiled. "You're welcome."

"Now hurry up and eat girls! You don't want to be late!"

I grabbed a yogurt and a banana as Marinette made herself a bowl of cereal. I cut up the banana and put it in my yogurt as I sat down and started eating.

"Is that all you're eating?" Marinette asked.

"Yeah. I'm not really all that hungry in the mornings." I lied, not wanting to explain my life as a demigod.

"Okay?" Marinette said, though it sounded more like a question.

"We're coming up on the one year Anniversary of Ladybug and Chat Noir." Said an announcer on the TV.

"Those were those two super heroes Alya talked about last night, right?" I asked Marinette.

"Yeah."

"Have you ever met them?"

"I've met Chat Noir a couple times." Marinette said, taking a bite of cereal.

"What's he like?"

"Ugh!" Marinette threw her head back. "He flirts way to much for a normal person. Plus, at one point, I actually had to tell him how to do his job!"

"You're kidding!" I said, chuckling.

"Unfortunately, no. Then there was this one time where he actually saved me, and then he showed off and did some weird gymnastics routine as he jumped off."

I laughed again. "Kinda reminds me of Percy. He likes to 'play with fire' if you will. Then again, I'm the same way." It keeps us alive.

"That's Chat Noir for you." Marinette looked at the clock. "We should probably head to school. We have fifteen minutes, and I would like to get there before we get in to much trouble."

"Good idea." I said, grabbing my backpack and walking out the door.

"Hey! Wait up!" Marinette yelled, running out the door and tripping. She quickly recovered and giggled quietly. "Sorry..."

"Don't worry." I said. "I'm the exact same way."

"You're a klutz to?"

"On occasion." I said, walking down the stairs. "Come on, we don't want to be late."

"Right, we have school. I forgot." Marinette grumbled as she followed me.

"Suck it up, buttercup." I said, holding the door.

Marinette walked through as we walked across the street. As we approached her, Alya started clapping.

"You're actually on time this year!"

"Only because Annabeth forced me to get dressed earlier." Marinette grumbled.

"Suck it up." I said as a limo pulled up and Adrien, along with Percy, walked up.

"Morning Puddin'." I greeted.

"Seriously Annabeth? Why are you dressed like Harleen Quinten?" Percy asked, laughing.

"Because I can, and I'm going as her for Halloween."

"You want me to go as Joker, don't you?"

"What do you think, Mr. J?"

"You owe me. I wanted us to go as The Little Mermaid!"

"We did that last year!"

"But I went as Ari and you went as Erica!"

"It's not my fault the costumes got mixed up!"

"What are you two complaining about?" Adrien asked.

"It's hard to explain. We'll show you the pictures eventually." I said as I heard Marinette complain.

"Leave me alone Chloé!"

"No way! You still need to learn your place!"

"Do what she said Chloé." Alya said, stepping in front of Marinette.

"Percy, record this and send it to Piper, saying 'Annabeth says 'This remind you of anyone?' Okay?" I commanded as I ran towards them.

"Why?"

"Just do it dude!" Adrien took the phone and recorded everything.

"What's going on here?" I asked, looking around.

"This little it just stepped in front of me." The blonde girl, who must've been Chloé, said, pointing to Marinette.

"It has a name and her name is Marinette." I said, trying to sound threatening.

"More like MariTrash."

"Oh hell no." Alya said, glaring at Chloé.

"Take that back right now, or my fist goes up your ass." I said, stepping in front of both Alya and Marinette as Nino and Adrien crowded around us, Percy with his phone again.

"Would you look at this Sabrina?" Chloé said. "This American exchange student is standing up for a girl she barley even knows! You know, I heard that Americans are dumb, but since you're a blonde, that already means you're dumb, doesn't it?"

"Bad mistake." Percy muttered.

"Like you have room to talk, you blonde she-devil." I said. "And I may not know Marinette all that well, but I do know what's wrong, and what's right. My family was originally from Greece, same as Percy's. And I have one thing to say to you: erre es krokas."

Percy's eyes widened. "Annabeth!"

"It had to be done Percy."

"What does that even mean?" Chloé asked, referring to the red head next to her.

"It means go to the crows, an Ancient Greek curse." I explained. "You know, you are a sad, strange little person, and you have my pity."

Percy giggled.

"Please, I'm the mayor's daughter, so if anything, you are the small person here."

"I actually have two I would like you to meet. Their names are Fuck and Off, and they are right over there. Go on. Leave!" I almost yelled as Chloé and Sabrina ran away, either scared or they were being smart. I turned to Marinette. "You okay?"

"W-Why did you do that?" She asked, stuttering.

"Because unlike a couple people, I have very strong concepts on right and wrong. That girl represents all the wrong in the world. And we represent all the right."

"I mean, why did you stand up for me? You barley even know me!"

"You're a good person Marinette. Same goes for Alya, Nino, and Adrien. I may know know you guys all that well, but you guys are the closest things Percy and I have to friends here. And friends protect other friends. I'll protect you guys to the best of my ability."

"Same goes for me." Percy said, putting an arm around me. "Annabeth and I are a team. And what she does, I do as well."

"How can you guys protect us though?" Adrien asked.

"We'll do it to the best of our ability. Can you guys do it to?"

"I'll try." Alya put her hand in the middle.

"Same here." Nino laced his fingers with Alya's hand.

"I'll probably fail, but I'll try." Marinette also put in her hand.

"Have more self confidence Marinette." Percy said, holding my hand.

"I'm in to." Adrien was the next to put his hand in.

Percy and I put in our hands last. "Go team?"

Everyone nodded. "Go team!" We all yelled. Then the bell rang.

"Guys, we do not want to be late." Nino said, stating the obvious.

"When did you get here?" Marinette asked.

"During the fight with Chloé." Nino said, looking at the school. "Now we really have to go."

"Right. Come on guys!" Adrien said, dragging me and Percy along.

"I sorta forgot to say this, but did you have to use a Toy Story reference as a comeback?" Percy whispered.

"Oh shut up!" So far, school is off to a good start.
