Pidge turned out to be a big help around the base. She was still wary around people and usually talked to me but she also made friends with Allura, a sweet young lady who would take care of her. Allura is the motherly figure in our group. She always took care of everyone. She lost her sister to hunters shortly after the new society rose up and makes sure everyone is happy and taken care of.

"KEITH!" I heard Shiro call out to me. I smiled and waved to him as he ran up to me.

"What's up?" I asked casually. The walls around the base allowed me to relax a little unlike outside the walls where I had to stay alert.

"We got another scout mission to do," he said. Shiro and I are partners and since I'm still 'young' we only go on scout and scavenger missions once a month. If we encounter anyone we have to hide or retreat. We are not allowed to engage unless forced to.

"What time?" I asked, watching the sun begin to dip below the edge of the walls. It was late in the evening and I was sitting on the roof of the house Shiro and I shared. It was a small house with three rooms people could stay in. Pidge was going to sleep in the third room but she stays with Allura instead.

"We leave at 7 tomorrow morning. So expect a wake up call at 6," Shiro said with a cheeky smirk from the ground below me. I let out a short and rolled my eyes with amusement.

"As if you don't wake me up then anyway," I said with fake annoyance but a smile on my face.

"I know. Now get down and get some sleep. We're going out to the 12th quadrant," Shiro called out. Everything was marked in quadrants now by our leader. It makes it easier when scavenging and knowing where to find supplies or food. It also meant we could stay clear of people when needed.

"Ten more minutes," I called down, watching as Shiro shook his head and went inside. I could hear the door close below me and his light flicked out. I was left in almost complete darkness now as every other light was turned off as to avoid being seen by outsiders.

The setting sun was the only light reflecting across the sky. I couldn't see the sun itself anymore as it was below the wall but the sky was lit up with bright reds and oranges. It was the only beautiful thing the new society couldn't ruin anymore.

With a content smile I climbed off the roof and went to bed, making sure to be quiet as to not wake Shiro up. The 12th quadrant. We found Pidge in the 10th quadrant. Maybe we can find that guy again; the one that saved him. Pidge wouldn't tell us who he was or anything about the guys he was with, too afraid to open his mouth. But I knew we would encounter them again one day.

"Stay down," Shiro whispered, creeping toward an old warehouse like building. It was getting close to midday and we hadn't found anything useful yet. Shiro said we might find something in here after I spotted it so here we are, creeping towards a door that leads inside.

"Do you think people are inside?" I whispered as we approached the open door. He didn't respond which made me more nervous. He knew we might run into people so he wasn't going to lie and tell me we wouldn't; I know that. But sometimes a little reassurance is helpful.

"Shh," he whispered while creeping through the open door. I took a silent breath and followed, waiting a few second for my eyes to adjust. I couldn't believe my eyes at what I saw. The whole place was stocked with food, and this place is huge. All I could see was shelves lined with canned food and supplies. There was so much stuff.

I jumped slightly as the door shut, letting out a sigh when I saw it was just Shiro. He gave a small apologetic smile before moving down one side of the warehouse. I nodded, already knowing what he wanted me to do, and began to quietly walk down the wall, looking down every isle to make sure no one was here or if the place was trapped.

I stopped when I came to a section that was blocked off by curtains. I looked down the isle next to me, seeing Shiro at the other end. He gave a firm nod and we both entered with our knives drawn.

I held back a gasp at what I saw. Several bodies littered the floor, leaving pools of blood where they had bleed to death. Made up beds had people laying face up staring at the ceiling, the same as the people on the ground. I looked at the blood stained sheets in shock. What happened here?

I heard a sound behind me and spun around, freezing when I saw the dark figure from last time. Only now they were holding a gun in my direction.

"Where is she?" He asked quietly. He was wearing a dark coloured mask that covered his expression and muffled their voice but his tone was emotionless.

"W-what?" I stuttered out, keeping my eyes on the mask as Shiro crept along where he couldn't see. I wasn't sure if he knew he was there but I wasn't going to give anything away.

"WHERE is she?" He asked, more pressing this time.

"W-who? Pidge?" I stuttered out, my eyes shooting down to the gun for a second.

"Yes you idiot. Where is she?" He pressed, aiming the gun right at my head.

"Sh-she's at our base. She's safe," I said, closing my eyes and waiting to be shot.

"Thank you," the voice was soft and caring. I opened my eyes, seeing the gun still pointed at me but it suddenly wasn't as intimidating.

I glanced at Shiro as he got ready to leap at the figure but just as he did they stepped out of the way and grabbed him by the hood of his black hoodie. His head went flying towards a broken beam but he didn't hit it. The figure tugged on his hood, pulling him back into some of the shelves but not hard enough to hurt him.

"Clumsy. And your steps were too heavy. You sounded like an elephant," the figure spoke, putting their gun away.

"Who are you?" Shiro asked, rubbing his neck a little.

"There's a truck outside full of food and supplies. Take it and go back where you came. And don't come back," the figure spoke, ignoring him.

"I asked you a question," Shiro spoke, trying to sound intimidating.

"Doesn't matter. You need to leave before they come back," the figure pressed, striding over to a window and looking out.

"Before who comes back?" I asked, feeling anxious by their words.

"Hunters. Now go," he said, pointing to a second door across the area.

"Not until you tell us who you are," Shiro said, standing up straight. The figure turned to him but didn't respond straight away.

"Lance, now go," he said, shoving us towards the door with more strength than I expected.

I squinted as we entered the light again and turned around only to have the door slammed closed in front of me. I let out a huff and looked around the area, finding the truck Lance talked about.

Shiro was already in the truck turning it on, smiling a little when it rumbled to life. He waved me over and I ran to the passenger seat, climbing in and closing the door.

"It's stocked with stuff. Like he said. Your dad will be proud of us and maybe we can become scavengers instead if scouts," Shiro said with a slight smirk. (I know just shhh)

"Yeah. Maybe," I said, sitting back as Shiro drove into the road and headed towards our base.

I thought about Lance. She was wearing a black/dark blue hoodie with the hood pulled up and that dark mask. I wanted to know what he looked like and why he covered what he looked like. Is he the person those guys in black were looking for? If so, why were they looking for him?... Maybe Pidge knows.
