The Grey

(( A/N: Another creative writing project. For this one, we were suppose to write it based off of a song. So, I picked The Grey by Icon For Hire.
This ties into my one story, To The World's End. Not all of this is accurate, the song will probably NEVER be mentioned in the story lmao, the only songs I could see Einar singing to the egg is Norwegian songs. Still, hope you enjoy it ;0 ))

How long has it been? Certainly hasn't been a year yet...however, it's been at least six months. Why? Because of the egg wrapped in his blanket.
Oh yes, he had an egg, which he carried with him everywhere. It was his duty, of course. Who is he, though? Well...that's obvious. This was no other than Einar Landvik, the embodiment of Sin.
The egg is his, yes. This would soon hatch into his son...or daughter. It felt like a son to him. What was he doing out in the mountainous wilderness with this egg, all alone? He ran away, is what he did, with this egg.
He was conflicted, however. Despite the fact he ran away, he wanted to go back really badly. He wanted to see his loved ones again... But the look in his mate's eyes... He was too afraid to see. He couldn't go back...yet he wanted to so badly. It honestly hurt him, that's how badly he wanted to return. But he couldn't, because he didn't want them to see what had become of him. Angelica already knew, but she would never forgive him for running off... He knew his way back, he could find it, but he couldn't return.
He hadn't the slightest idea where he was going, though. All he had was his child, still in the egg wrapped in the blanket, as well as his own shadow. The shadow being Sin itself, whispering to him all throughout his journey.
"In your deepest pain, in your weakest hour, in your darkest night, you are lovely."
Repeating those words over and over, Einar was honestly questioning whether or not the bastard was right.
Eventually, the sun was beginning to set, and Einar scrambled to find shelter for him and his beloved egg for the night. He flew far above the mountains, as he usually did when trying to find shelter. Even then, Sin kept repeating those words.
"In your deepest pain, in your weakest hour, in your darkest night, you are lovely."
Eventually, within the mountains, he spotted a cave. He flew towards it. It was dark, but that didn't matter. With a snap of his fingers, he created a fire in the middle of it. He then walked to it, gently setting the egg and its blanket down. He then sat beside it, staring at the egg. He eventually put his hand on it, feeling the warm of the being inside. Oh, what will they hatch to be? That, too, was a mystery. Despite the fact they haven't hatched yet, Einar sung a lullaby to them every night. He smiled, thinking about what to sing. He then frowned, remembering a song he liked to listen to before...all the chaos. Perhaps...he would sing something sad tonight. His child would need to know his true emotions eventually... So it was decided. He opened his mouth, beginning to sing the sad melody:
"I'm standing on the edge of returning or just running away..."
