chapter one,
against all the odds

Winnie put down a draw four card, with a sly smirk. "Winnie, you poor girl." Zion laughed as they picked out a card and dropped it onto the uno pile.

"No." Winnie groaned, throwing her head back.

Zion's card was another draw four meaning Winnie would have to pick up eight uno cards.

"I suck at this game. Like I really do." Winnie says out loud as she picks up her cards through the deck.

Over at the pool, Elowyn heard her best friend smacking her phone as well as yelling at it. "Kitty, you better not be throwing a fit because you can't talk to your boyfriend."

"Wyns, you just don't get it! I have to talk to Dae, he's like my only reason in life." Kitty sulked.

"Oh come on Kitty, he can't be your only reason to live," Winnie sighs.

"Why not? He makes me happy." Kitty huffs, crossing her arms over her chest.

Kitty's stubbornness was apparent as she continued to pout about her boyfriend.

"Kitty, you can't let one person be your entire world. Especially, when you have me!"

Winnie flashed a smile at Kitty making Kitty give in and stop calling Dae.

As the two smile, Kitty's phone buzzes from an incoming call.

"That better not be, Dae." Winnie says unenthusiastically.

Kitty squealed with excitement, "Oh my god. Oh my god."

"What!? What is it?" Winnie yelled, starting to get annoyed.

"It's K.I.S.S!"

"What!!" Winnie yells as she bolts up from the pool chair and to edge of the pool. "Well, answer it!"

Kitty answered the phone, and immediately burst out into tears of happiness as she splashed around in the pool.

"I got in! I got in! I got in!" She exclaimed, splashing water everywhere.

Winnie couldn't help but scream and jump up and down with Kitty, joining in the celebration.

"Oh my god, Kitty! We're going to Seoul!"

In no time, Winnie and Kitty had arrived at the airport, very excited to see Seoul.

Winnie only applied for K.I.S.S for the art program that they did, and after finding out that her best friend was planning on attending the school - she couldn't wait any longer.

"Katherine Song Covey."

Kitty placed down her passport on the table at the counter, "Kitty to my friends and I'm on my way to Seoul, Korea."

"Excuse her. She talks way too much when she's overly excited." Winnie patted Kitty's shoulder, signalling for her to take it down a notch.

"Sorry." Kitty calmly said as she shrugged off Winnie's hand.

The gate attendant scanned Kitty's passport and handed it back to her.

Winnie and Kitty walked through the airport to get ready to board the plane.

Kitty was messaging her sisters - Lara Jean and Margot, while Winnie was making sure they got to the right place.

They finally found a good spot to sit, and just as they sat down, a handsome boy walked past. Winnie put her hand on Kitty's phone.

"Put the phone down, now," she told her.

As Kitty looked up, the boy 'accidentally' hit her with his bag. "Excuse me!" she called out, getting his attention.

"What are you doing!" Winnie whispered to her. The boy turned around and Kitty saw the logo of Kiss on his duffel bag.

"Wait, are you going to KI.I.S.S?" she asked him. The courage this girl had was on another level. "We're going to K.I.S.S!" she smiled at the boy, Winnie standing next her with an unsure smile.

"No English," he replied back.

"Okay, rude," Kitty said, and then went back to messaging her sisters.

The two ignored the boy and boarded their plane. Winnie was so excited that words could not express how she was feeling in that moment.
